Ji Wan died suddenly.
When she regained consciousness, she felt as if she were lying in bed.
"Your Highness, wake up..."
Ji Wan buried her face in the quilt in a daze, but the sound still did not disappear, instead it became more and more rapid.
She felt someone reaching out and gently pulling at her cuff.
"Your Highness, Your Highness the Princess!"
Ji Wan opened her eyes suddenly. The familiar screen was gone, the computer desk was gone, and the bedroom was gone.
Instead, there was a strange scene.
Looking around, the whole house is simple and elegant, with a mellow sandalwood scent filling the air.
Opposite the bed stood an exquisitely carved sandalwood low table, on which stood an ancient book with yellowed pages.
Ji Wan blinked, not reacting.
There was a row of people standing outside the wooden bed, all staring at her intently.
Several of them were dressed the same as the palace maids in movies and TV dramas, and were looking at her with hidden sarcasm.
What the hell is this place? Shouldn't she be writing to catch up on her work?
Ji Wan's mind was in a daze. Working overtime for a whole day and night to update the novel had pushed her mentally and physically to the limit.
I just remember that I couldn’t hold on any longer, breathing became difficult, and then I lost consciousness.
"Your Highness, please get up quickly. The people from the Governor's Mansion are waiting at the door."
The person who spoke was the guy who was secretly pulling at his sleeve.
Ji Wan's gaze slowly fell on him.
The man had an ordinary face and was about seventeen or eighteen years old. He was wearing a green round-necked robe and was kneeling beside the bed with his head lowered. He was holding a tray filled with exquisite fabrics.
Ji Wan licked her dry lips. What did this person just say? Your Highness?
Suddenly, there was a sudden noise outside.
Ji Wan subconsciously sat up and looked down.
She wanted to find a pair of shoes.
Seeing that Ji Wan was finally willing to get up, the palace maids in the room began to clean up quickly.
Some people wiped her face with a wet cloth, while others held her arms and helped her get dressed.
Some were so anxious that they stumbled several times while running around the house.
After it was all over, Ji Wan vaguely heard a disdainful snort in his throat.
Ji Wan frowned and looked around, only to find two people standing in the direction of the sound.
To be honest, she had only seen such ancient scenes in movies and TV shows.
But the current situation did not allow her to calm down and think carefully.
After finishing the cleaning, Ji Wan was supported by a group of palace maids and the eunuch-looking boy who had just woken her up, and hurried out the door.
Behind him was a row of young eunuchs walking with a hunched back.
A large group of people came.
These palace maids and eunuchs had a clear goal and ignored the noise outside. They turned around and helped her directly into the cell in the backyard.
She took a moment to look back and saw more than a dozen yamen runners kneeling outside the courtyard.
Ji Wan secretly pinched herself hard, damn! It hurts!
In less than a quarter of an hour, Ji Wan stood in front of the cell.
The cell smelled strange, filled with the damp smell of earth after rain mixed with the smell of dried blood.
The whole space was very dark, with only a few oil lamps on both sides flashing faint lights.
Following the faint pearl light, Ji Wan's gaze shifted to the man who was like a drowned dog.
The prisoner had disheveled hair, his head lowered, an unreal expression on his face, his hands tied behind his back, and he was soaked.
His hair, like dry grass, trembled along with his body.
He was wearing a rough gray linen suit that looked as worn as if he had just been fished out of the mud. He was thin, and there was no flesh on his exposed arms.
He knelt opposite Ji Wan with his back straight.
My goodness, what crime did this poor guy commit to be locked up here?
Just as he thought of this, a "beep" sound suddenly rang out, and Ji Wan shivered all over with fright.
The scenery around me almost stopped in an instant, and the people on both sides stopped reacting.
After a long pause, Ji Wan turned his head and looked around. He felt as if he was isolated from the world and was the only one who could move.
"Ding, welcome to bind to the Empress System. Your system will serve you wholeheartedly."
Empress system?
Ji Wan suddenly had a memory in her mind that did not belong to her.
The content is comprehensive and profound, as if you have actually experienced it.
"System? What's going on?"
Thinking about the nature of his job, Ji Wan suddenly had a bad feeling.
Could it be... traveling through time...
"Hello host, your body in the previous world has been cremated. This system has taken a fancy to your abilities, so it is giving you a chance for rebirth and binding with you."
The mechanical sound fell into her ears with a cold texture.
Ji Wan's bad premonition came true, and he really traveled through time.
She is an ordinary novelist. Why did she travel through time and space? Aren’t mobile phones, air conditioners and computers more useful?
And what does that mean.
Empress System? Becoming an empress? What's the price? She didn't believe the so-called 'Empress System' didn't come with a price.
"Does it cost anything?"
The mechanical voice spoke at the same calm pace as before: "You don't need to pay anything. This system only requires you to protect the people of the country under your rule after you ascend to the throne, and prevent them from having their lives and deaths decided by the 'immortal cultivators'.
I hope you can give your people the right to control their own life and death."
Ji Wan gave a fake smile. Immortal cultivator? This is actually a fantasy novel.
How to be an empress? She has no idea!
"Are you kidding me? I'm just an ordinary novelist. How can I become an empress?"
The mechanical voice paused for a moment without sincerity, and then ignored Ji Wan's question: "Ascend to the throne of empress and rule the four kingdoms. The sea of stars is waiting for you to conquer.
