Feeling Chu Jinghuai's gaze fixed on him, Chen Jingxi raised his head and asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
Chu Jinghuai asked calmly, "Did you have fun in the palace?"
"It's okay, just drinking tea and admiring the flowers, nothing special."
Chu Jinghuai sighed and said, "Don't do that again in the future."
Chen Jingxi blinked and asked, "Is that so?"
Chu Jinghuai said seriously: "You knew there was danger, but you still stood there and let her shoot. Aren't you playing with your own life?"
Chen Jingxi understood and said with a smile: "It won't be dangerous, Han Yu is here."
"If it were any other archer, Han Yu's darts would be useless."
Chen Jingxi shook her head, shrugged, and smiled, "If it weren't for Jiang Xiwan, I wouldn't be standing there like a sitting duck."
Her choice to stand there was part of a gamble; she was betting that she wouldn't be able to shoot accurately in this highly stressful situation.
"What's more, you won't let anything happen to me, right?" Chen Jingxi smiled as she looked at Chu Jinghuai's disapproving eyes.
Chu Jinghuai was startled, then nodded gently and said, "You're right."
If Jiang Xiwan's arrow had not missed the target, or if Han Yu had not been at the scene, he would not have let the arrow fall on Chen Jingxi.
Chen Jingxi looked at Chu Jinghuai holding the teacup and playing with it nonchalantly, and asked, "What's wrong, Your Majesty?"
Chu Jinghuai looked into her eyes and said, "The princess is not an ordinary lady from a noble family."
Meeting Chu Jinghuai's eyes, Chen Jingxi smiled calmly, "What does Your Highness think of me?"
Chu Jinghuai put down the teacup in his hand and stared at her face, not missing any details. "You are very special."
It was so special that it surprised him. He had checked the previous Chen Jingxi, who was raised in seclusion and only knew etiquette and education. She was a woman who didn't even understand the fighting in the inner house.
The personality is completely different from the person in front of me.
When did she become like this? It was after Zhao Yue pushed her down from the attic and she woke up.
Chen Jingxi once talked about why she became like this, but if you think about it carefully, you will find that what she said does not stand up to scrutiny. No matter what, a person cannot become completely different overnight.
It's like a different person.
Personality may change, but a person's experience will not. Something that you don't know can't be learned overnight.
How many sides of her did she hide that he didn't know about?
Chen Jingxi knew that with Chu Jinghuai's intelligence, he must have noticed something, and she didn't intend to hide it. Living together for a long time, it was almost impossible for him not to know.
It was tiring for her to pretend to be someone else every day, and she couldn't really act like one.
After a moment of silence, Chen Jingxi said, "Your Highness, I am not the same Chen Jingxi as before."
Chu Jinghuai's expression did not fluctuate much when he heard this. He just responded calmly: "Go on."
Chen Jingxi was stunned. She thought that this sentence would shock and surprise Chu Jinghuai, and even question her identity and purpose.
Chu Jinghuai's calm reaction surprised her. Thinking of this, she couldn't help but ask, "Why didn't you feel strange when you heard what I said? Why didn't you point at my nose and ask, 'If you are not Chen Jingxi, then who are you? What is your purpose? Why did you approach me?'"
Chu Jinghuai's mouth twitched, and he laughed inwardly.
Before he could say a word, she had already thought of his possible reactions and words, and they sounded quite reasonable, like the questions everyone would ask when hearing such words.
He sighed and said, "I guessed it."
Upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed in Chen Jingxi's eyes: "You guessed it? Then you..." She hesitated, as if hesitating about what to say next.
Chu Jinghuai looked at her and spoke slowly: "I have noticed that you are different. Your words, actions, and way of thinking are very different from the previous Chen Jingxi."
Chen Jingxi nodded, "Then when did you become sure that I wasn't?"
"From the moment you learned to swim, I was certain of it."
Chen Jingxi didn’t know how to swim before, but the person in front of him could, or was very good at it, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to swim ashore in such a wide river.
"Then why do you..."
Before Chen Jingxi could finish her words, she was interrupted by Chu Jinghuai, "No matter who you are, you are my princess."
Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, Chen Jingxi's heart moved, "Aren't you afraid that I might harm you?"
Chu Jinghuai smiled and said, "You won't, I believe you."
Chen Jingxi was slightly shocked. She was originally a little worried about how Chu Jinghuai would treat her after knowing the truth, but now she was completely relieved.
Chu Jinghuai continued, "But I can't understand why we are the same person, but everything is different."
Having said this, he paused slightly, and a few words vaguely emerged in his mind - resurrection from the dead.
Chen Jingxi keenly caught the flash of understanding in his eyes, and a faint smile appeared on the corner of her mouth, knowing that he had guessed some of the truth.
She didn't intend to hide it any further, so she told him frankly, "You're right. This body is indeed Chen Jingxi's, but the core is not."
Chu Jinghuai's gaze deepened, and he asked in a low voice, "Then who were you originally?"
"I don't belong to this era. I come from the distant future, or rather, from a completely different world. As for why I ended up here, the reasons are complex and mysterious, and it's hard to explain in a few words."
Chu Jinghuai was silent for a moment, digesting this shocking fact. He stared at Chen Jingxi, his eyes gleaming with curiosity and thought.
"Then do you know what will happen in the future?" Chu Jinghuai suddenly asked.
