The servants swallowed their saliva and looked at each other. If they offended the princess, they could still survive, but if they offended Concubine Zhao, they didn't know if they could see the sun tomorrow.
Chen Jingxi had a faint smile on her lips. The original owner had been cowardly for a long time, so when she suddenly got ruthless, naturally no one took her seriously. They were probably waiting to see her make a fool of herself.
She was in no hurry. She scanned everyone with her eyes, then stood up and walked to a woman in brocade clothes. Her tone was cold and polite: "Where is this nanny from? How many people are there in your family? What do you do for a living?"
The nanny was stunned for a moment before she said, "I am from Tuba Village outside the city. There are six people in my family, but they are all farmers."
Chen Jingxi looked her up and down and said, "They are all farmers, so it's really hard work."
"Farmers are used to it."
"Mammy, you should have a grandchild at this age!"
When talking about her grandson, the nanny grinned and said, "I am so lucky. My grandson is already six years old."
Chen Jingxi pondered for a moment, "This princess has always liked children. Madam, please bring him to the palace to play when you have time."
The nanny's heart skipped a beat. Her grandson was already six years old and should have started elementary school next year. Although the palace was nice, he was just a servant after all. Even the greatest favor from heaven was not as important as passing the imperial examination.
"My grandson is a naughty child, and I'm afraid he will offend the princess. If you have anything to say, please tell me."
Chen Jingxi snorted in his heart, you are smart, some people are like this, unless it involves their own interests, they will never get involved and stay out of it.
"In that case, why are you still standing there?"
The nanny swallowed her saliva and quickly glanced at Chen Jingxi. Looking at Chen Jingxi's frosty face, she felt a sense of awe for no reason and nudged the old sister beside her with her elbow.
After a while, Zhao Yue was caught tightly.
"Let me go, you two old bastards,"
No woman would be happy to be called an old thing, so the two men restrained Zhao Yue even harder, while the people next to them helped to restrain her maid.
Chen Jingxi sat back in the reclining chair, closed her eyes, and listened to the sound of slaps and Zhao Yue's insults.
From the moment she chose this nanny from among the crowd, she knew that she was no ordinary person. Her shoes, clothes, and hairpins were all newer and more valuable than those of the nanny next to her.
This means that she is either rich or the leader of this group.
I also asked her if she had any grandchildren. At her age, she was still working as a slave in the palace. It was unlikely that she would have any grandchildren if she was rich and didn't go back to enjoy the company of her grandchildren and have a wife to serve her.
…
"Your Highness, the princess is beating Concubine Zhao." A handsome man in black clothes and holding a sword suddenly appeared outside the door and reported.
Chu Jinghuai was slightly angry: "When did this happen?"
"A while."
Chu Jinghuai pondered for a moment, his expression a little amused, "Why would that woman Zhao Yue provoke the princess?"
The man in black glanced at Chu Jinghuai quietly. Seeing that he seemed angry, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, as if he was in a good mood. He swallowed his saliva and said, "Your Highness, Concubine Zhao seems to have insulted the princess."
Chu Jinghuai's eyes twitched. He had just witnessed that woman's verbal skills. Could she be scolded? Could she suffer a loss?
"Are you sure it was the concubine who scolded the princess?"
"Yes." The man in black nodded heavily, my God.
This was the first time in so many years that the prince questioned his ability. He didn't suspect that he had stolen the enemy's secrets, but actually suspected that he had heard it wrongly.
Ji Yunzhou said with great interest: "Jinghuai, your princess is different from what you said."
Chu Jinghuai glared at him and walked out of the study.
After a while, a maid whispered in Chen Jingxi's ear: "Princess, the prince is here."
Chen Jingxi opened his eyes and calmly picked up the tea.
"What are you doing?" Chu Jinghuai saw two old women holding Zhao Yue from a distance.
When the two maids heard Chu Jinghuai's loud shout, they were so scared that they quickly let go and knelt down to pay their respects.
Zhao Yue was freed from her shackles and stood up, running towards Chu Jinghuai, bursting into tears: "Prince... Lord, you're here! Sister wants to kill me, wuwu."
Chu Jinghuai looked at Zhao Yue, whose hair was disheveled and who was originally as delicate as jade, but now had a swollen head like a pig, and his face was filled with shock.
"Send Concubine Zhao back to the West Garden to rest." Chu Jinghuai ordered.
"Wait a moment."
"My Lord, I will not go back. You must make the decision for me."
Two voices sounded at the same time.
Chen Jingxi's lips curled up slightly. It was just right, she didn't want Zhao Yue to leave so soon.
"Your Highness is so protective of his people that it makes it very difficult for me, the princess, to do anything." Chen Jingxi stood up and walked to Chu Jinghuai's side, clasping her arms across her chest and looking at Zhao Yue carefully.
"You, what do you want to do?" Zhao Yue hid behind Chu Jinghuai in a panic.
"What do I want to do? Don't you know it very well, sister?" Chen Jingxi suddenly grabbed her hand.
"Ah!" Zhao Yue screamed, "Let me go."
"What's your name, sister? If someone doesn't know you, they would think I did something to you." Chen Jingxi's tone was very gentle.
"Your Highness..." Zhao Yue looked at Chu Jinghuai for help, but saw that he had no expression on his face and didn't want to pay any attention to her.
Instead, he looked at Chen Jingxi with a bit of amusement, which made her even more scared and helpless.
Chen Jingxi grabbed her hand and said with a caring look, "Sister Concubine, I'm going to teach you how to be a good person. What are you afraid of? I won't eat you."
Zhao Yue's eyes welled up with tears as she begged, "Sister, please forgive me. I won't dare to do it again."
"Then tell me where you went wrong?"
"A younger sister shouldn't insult her older sister."
"And more!"
"And...and you shouldn't disobey your superiors and offend your sister."
"Get to the point."
