Chapter 8: Don't Know What to Do

As soon as Chu Jinghuai finished speaking, the temperature in the car suddenly dropped to freezing point.

A chill emanated from his body, and his eyes, as cold as ice, stared at her intently.

Chen Jingxi couldn't help but tremble, and said meekly: "Your Majesty, please calm down."

She sighed, a little disappointed and continued, "How could this princess plot against Your Majesty? You and I are husband and wife, what good would it do me to plot against you?"

Chu Jinghuai threw the letter in his arms to her, "What is this?"

Chen Jingxi spread out the piece of paper and took a look at it. "This is the letter I wrote to the prince. Is there any problem?"

"Chen Jingxi, you ask even though you already know the answer."

Chen Jingxi blinked and asked innocently, "Your Highness, please tell me clearly. I really don't know how I have offended you."

"You are quite eloquent. You actually dared to write in this letter..." Chu Jinghuai took a deep breath, "saying that this king is inhumane."

Chen Jingxi covered her mouth, somewhat surprised, and said, "Your Highness, you are inhumane. How could I have known this? We've been married until today, and we've only seen each other for a day at most. Why didn't you tell me earlier that Your Highness had this hidden illness?"

"Chen Jingxi!" Chu Jinghuai suddenly overturned the small table and shouted angrily.

"I'm here." Chen Jingxi frowned slightly as she watched the tea spill onto her feet. Fortunately, the tea was not hot, but it was still uncomfortable to feel wet.

Chu Jinghuai squeezed out a few words from between his teeth: "Chen Jingxi, you really don't know how to live or die."

After hearing this, Chen Jingxi's expression remained unchanged, still showing no fear. She looked up at his stern face and said softly, "Since the prince wants me to die, let me die knowingly."

Chu Jinghuai sneered: "You wrote it yourself, do you still want me to read it to you?"

Chen Jingxi read the letter again and said seriously, "My letter says that the prince is not in good health. I will report it to my father and grandmother truthfully. I won't let my father and grandmother think that the prince is putting on airs and doesn't want to go to his father-in-law's house. That's fine!"

Chu Jinghuai's mouth twitched. Looking at this audacious woman who spoke of his poor health as if it was a matter of course, he suddenly wanted to laugh. Laugh?

He actually wanted to laugh. When a woman told him no, and this woman was his wife, he really laughed.

"What's wrong with my body?" He was obviously very healthy and doing well.

"Ah! Wasn't the prince seriously injured in this battle? A broken bone takes a hundred days to heal. I saw that the prince was irritable and breathless yesterday, so I think he must not have fully recovered yet."

"I originally wanted to go and tell the prince in person, but I thought it would be better not to disturb the prince's recuperation, so I wrote a letter to tell the prince that I would be returning to my parents' home today."

"I also told the servant that I knew you were injured. If you hadn't asked me about it, I wouldn't have had to give you this letter."

Chen Jingxi laughed secretly in her heart. Of course, she wrote the word "no" on purpose. Any man would be furious when hearing these two words, let alone Chu Jinghuai, a proud man.

Chu Jinghuai was stunned when he heard her say this. The servant did have something else to say, but was interrupted by him. Could it be that he really misunderstood her?

Chu Jinghuai coughed lightly: "Princess, you are really considerate of me."

Chen Jingxi smiled shyly: "That's natural. Your Highness is my heaven. Everything in the future depends on Your Highness. We must be buried together even when we die."

Chu Jinghuai: "..."

After a long silence in the car, he suddenly said, "This prince has no health problems and is very healthy. If Princess wants to know anything about this prince in the future, you can come to my study directly and don't listen to rumors anymore."

Chen Jingxi held back her smile and said, "I don't care whether you have any problems or not, and I have no feelings towards you. It's best for the two of us to live in peace and live our own lives."

"Since the prince is well, please come back to my parents' home with me."

"Um."

Chen Jingxi nodded in satisfaction, and then pressed on, "Your Highness, when you get to my wife's family later, you must not have such a stern face."

"Hmm!" Chu Jinghuai's face darkened.

Chen Jingxi chuckled: "My princess said the wrong thing. Your Highness, please smile a little and show that you are very satisfied with me as your wife. It would be best if you can show that you like me very much."

Chu Jinghuai snorted coldly and closed his eyes.

Everyone outside the carriage was sweating profusely at first, but now they were completely bewildered. In the past, if anyone dared to speak to the prince like this, he would have probably been killed long ago.

Chen Jingxi naturally understood that Chu Jinghuai had not done anything yet. First, she was the Princess Su appointed by the emperor himself, and second, it was probably a common problem among men that they liked to be humiliated.

I never cherish things that come easily, especially people.

He is now like a high-ranking person in power. He only plays with her because he finds her, a variable, interesting and wants to conquer her.

If she had asked him to go back to the Chen family together at the beginning, he would probably have ridiculed her or even ignored her. In that case, why didn't she just play with him?

Sure enough, she guessed right.

The Chen family held a very grand ceremony to welcome her as the princess. To be more precise, it was to welcome Chu Jinghuai. She was there as a by-product, and there were quite a few people standing at the door.

Chen Jingxi had already brushed up on the relationships among the entire Chen family last night. Chen Qiyuan, the original owner's father, had four daughters and one son, and she was the only one born to the late first wife, Zhou.

The other three daughters and one son, Chen Jingtang, who is married, is born to concubine Jiang.

Chen Jingxu, who was about to get married, had a youngest son, Chen Hanbao, who was born to his second wife, Wang.

The youngest, Chen Jingxin, was born to Aunt Fang.

"Greetings to His Royal Highness Prince Su, and Princess Su."

Chu Jinghuai glanced at them, his wide sleeves swept past, and his tone was cold: "No need to be polite."

Chen Jingxi glanced at Chu Jinghuai. Perhaps only the royal nobles who truly lived here could fully display the royal dominance.

As soon as he entered the door, Chen Jingxi went to see Old Madam Chen first.

Old Madam Chen was half lying on the bed. When she saw Chen Jingxi come in, she immediately smiled and said, "Xi'er, come and let grandma take a look at my poor child."

Chen Jingxi walked over and sat down next to Old Madam Chen, looking at this elderly woman who was over fifty years old and fell ill because of worrying about the original owner.

My nose felt a pang of sadness. If I knew that Xin was no longer my biological granddaughter, I don’t know how sad I would be.

Old Madam Chen looked Chen Jingxi over, nodded with satisfaction, and said, "Are you fully recovered?"

Chen Jingxi smiled and said, "I'm sorry to have worried you, grandma. Xi'er is doing fine."

Old Madam Chen nodded repeatedly and said, "That's good, that's good. Then Concubine Zhao..."

Chen Jingxi said: "Xi'er has already punished her. I think she will behave herself in the future."

Old Madam Chen agreed, "That's how Xi'er should treat these ignorant people. I was always worried that you wouldn't be able to handle marrying into that place with your personality. Now it seems I was overthinking it."
