Chapter 167 Don’t Tell Bai Juncheng Yet

Bai Jinjin thought about it carefully and realized that this made sense. She took out the letter that Concubine Ye had put away and asked, "Mother, should we talk to Father about this?"

"Let's wait for some time. Your father is still worried about the border issues." Concubine Ye thought about it and decided not to tell Bai Juncheng about this matter. "Your uncles are also trying to find a way to collect evidence."

Bai Juncheng, who was outside the door, heard the voices of Bai Jinjin and Concubine Ye. Just as he was about to open the door and go in, he heard this conversation.

Bai Juncheng sighed, opened the door, and walked in. "Madam, is there something you can't tell me, your husband?"

The sudden sound scared Bai Jinjin so much that her heart stopped beating for a moment. She put her hands on her heart.

"Dad, you scared Jinjin. I thought someone overheard it."

Concubine Ye also glanced at him coquettishly, "How come you've learned to eavesdrop outside?"

"If I don't eavesdrop, how would I know what you two, mother and daughter, are discussing?" Bai Juncheng sat between Concubine Ye and Bai Jinjin, holding one of them with each hand.

"Is there anything we can't talk about now?"

As Bai Juncheng spoke, his eyes were fixed on Concubine Ye without moving away.

"No, Daddy is still worried about the border situation. Mom and I want to wait until this matter is over before we talk to Daddy."

Seeing that Bai Juncheng was in a bad mood, Bai Jinjin quickly added a sentence.

Hearing this, Bai Juncheng's expression improved a little.

"What on earth is it that you two, mother and daughter, want to hide from me?

"My uncles sent a letter to Mother, stating how much military pay and disaster relief money the Prime Minister and Empress had embezzled. They even sent people to burn winter clothing being shipped to the border today, blaming everything on my uncles."

As she spoke, Bai Jinjin's face turned ashen.

Bai Juncheng's face was so gloomy that it looked as if ink could drip out of it, and his tone seemed to pierce ice. "How dare the Prime Minister and Shen Yue do such a heinous thing! How dare they pretend to obey my imperial decree and secretly disobey it!"

He immediately stood up and was about to walk out. Bai Jinjin knew without a second thought that Bai Juncheng wanted to go straight to Shen Yue's palace, so she hurried forward to stop him.

"Dad, we can't go now. If we go, we'll alert the enemy. If we don't succeed this time, it will be difficult to catch them later."

Concubine Ye also stepped forward and took Bai Juncheng's arm, "Yes, it just so happened that my brothers were also investigating. It was the eldest prince who told me about this matter, and the Ye family was able to escape disaster."

Bai Juncheng asked doubtfully, "Madam, are you saying Jing'er told you?"

Concubine Ye nodded, seeing that his emotions had stabilized, "Yes, the eldest prince's investigation into corruption must have made some progress. You don't have to be too anxious."

"In that case, let's wait for the general to return triumphantly." Bai Juncheng patted his clothes, a gleam of light in his eyes.

Seeing this, Bai Jinjin handed the cheese on the table to Bai Juncheng, "Daddy, try it. This can be eaten as a dish or a snack."

The solemn atmosphere was immediately destroyed by Bai Jinjin.

"Then Daddy, try it and see if the cheese recommended by Jinjin is delicious." Bai Juncheng smiled happily and took a bite of cheese.

Bai Juncheng's brows immediately jumped, "Is this Jinjin thing really so delicious?"

Bai Jinjin nodded in confusion when she heard this. "Yes, this cheese is delicious, with a strong milky flavor."

The man didn't know what to say, so he could only nod and put the uneaten cheese back on the plate.

"Jinjin's taste is very unique."

Hearing this, Bai Jinjin glared at Bai Juncheng with dead eyes, "Daddy, it's obviously you who can't eat sweets, not Jinjin's unique taste."

Shen Yue was waiting for news of success in the palace when Ruyi hurried in and told her, "My Lady, those men in black failed. The Ye family suddenly showed up to help Mo Yunqiu, and the men in black had to retreat first for fear of being exposed."

"What? Failed? Did they reveal any information?" Shen Yue looked at Ruyi in surprise. She immediately stepped down from the phoenix chair and walked quickly to Ruyi's side. She grabbed her arm and asked nervously, "Did those men in black carry any palace badges?"

Ruyi could only shake her head upon hearing this, "I don't know. The Prime Minister asked me to tell the Queen that the recent turmoil has been so great that many things have to be put on hold."

Shen Yue knew what the Prime Minister was worried about, "Tell the Prime Minister to blame the Ye family for the corruption whenever he gets the chance, absolutely!"

"Yes, I'll go right away." Ruyi nodded and left the palace.

Shen Yue's mind was spinning wildly. Those men in black should not have anyone's palace badge on them. They should only be treated as traitors.

Thinking of this, Shen Yue immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but she didn't expect that Bai Yu heard everything clearly outside.

Bai Yu wanted to have dinner with Shen Yue, but he heard such news as soon as he walked to the palace gate. Even Ruyi didn't notice him when she ran over. His mood became even more complicated. It turned out that his mother really interfered in state affairs.

He even wanted to destroy all the supplies. Bai Yu turned and left, having lost the last hope for Shen Yue in his eyes.

At night, Bai Jinjin wanted to go see Ye Jiuge. She hadn't seen Ye Jiuge for the past two days and didn't know how he was doing or whether he had complained to her.

When she walked to the door, Bai Jinjin quietly squatted down and wanted to sneak in to scare Ye Jiuge, but as soon as she opened the door, Ye Jiuge appeared in front of her.

"Don't run around at night. What if you run into some bad guys?"

Bai Jinjin chuckled, stood up, and hugged Ye Jiuge, "It's okay, I'll be fine as long as Brother Ye is here."

Hearing this, Ye Jiuge chuckled and touched Bai Jinjin's hair, "What's the matter with you coming to see me so late?"

"Hehe, Brother Ye, how did you know that Jinjin called you here for something?" Bai Jinjin came out of Ye Jiuge's arms and smiled.

"You come to see me so late, it's impossible that you come to chat with me at this time?" Ye Jiuge chuckled and walked into the palace with Bai Jinjin's hand.

Bai Jinjin was led by Ye Jiuge to sit on the chair and explained.

"Today, my uncles prevented the winter clothes from being burned. We also know that it was the Queen and the Prime Minister who did it, but we want to wait until the General who guards the border comes back to investigate this matter."

Ye Jiuge raised his eyebrows slightly when he heard this and said, "So Jinjin wants me to help?"

"Yes, Brother Ye is so smart."
