Chapter 35 The eldest prince's question

Bai Lingling sat in the tent, feeling happy when she thought of the unconscious Mo Yunqiu and Ye Jiuge who was imprisoned. She was able to deal with two people at once. Although she just wanted Ye Jiuge to lose the game, it was indeed an unexpected surprise that Ye Jiuge was imprisoned.

As for Mo Yunqiu, Bai Lingling hesitated for a moment, but still laughed. She should blame him for showing up in that kind of occasion. If he hadn't suddenly appeared and scared her, the tent wouldn't have been set on fire. It was just Mo Yunqiu's bad luck.

After all, no one else knew about this matter. Bai Lingling felt relieved and picked up the snacks beside her and ate them in small bites, without noticing the flickering eyes of the eldest prince looking at her outside the tent.

In fact, Bai Lingling's testimony does not stand up to scrutiny. If she just saw the two of them arguing, why did the hairpin fall into the fire? Lingling said that he fled in panic when he saw the fire. It seems that Lingling is hiding something from me.

And the hairpin that Lingling gave to her was given by myself.

Bai Lingling was just about to go chat with her brothers when she was startled by the eldest prince outside the tent. She patted her chest and said to the eldest prince in a coquettish tone, "Brother, why didn't you say anything when you came? You scared me."

The eldest prince has not yet figured out the series of events, so he did not ask Bai Lingling directly, but answered Bai Lingling with a smile.

"I wanted to give you a surprise but ended up giving you a surprise."

Perhaps Bai Lingling would have noticed the complexity in the eldest prince's smile before, but she was still immersed in the sobriety of having escaped a disaster and did not realize that she was already under suspicion.

Still smiling, he said to the eldest prince, "Okay, big brother, let's go find the other brothers. Lingling wants to go horseback riding."

The eldest prince looked at the excited Bai Lingling, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded.

Seeing the eldest prince nodded in agreement, Bai Lingling smiled and walked ahead.

On the other side, the Third Prince and others were racing horses. The Second Prince's horse was obviously faster than the others. Just when the Second Prince thought he had won, the Fourth Prince was waiting for the opportunity not far away from him. With one effort, he surpassed the Second Prince and won the victory.

The Third Prince rode his horse behind him and said with a smile, "Second brother, why haven't you changed your habit of relaxing when you see yourself first?"

The second prince was a little depressed.

“Oh, how did I know that Fourth Brother would suddenly exert force.”

Seeing this, the Fourth Prince smiled and said, "Second brother, I've been waiting for you to let your guard down for a long time, and I finally got what I wanted."

Upon hearing this, the Second Prince threw the kettle in his hand over and scolded him with a smile: "You little bastard, you are waiting for me here."

When Bai Lingling and the eldest prince arrived, they happened to see this scene. Bai Lingling found it funny and walked towards the third prince and the others with graceful steps.

"Second brother is always so careless."

When the third prince saw Bai Lingling coming, he looked at her in surprise.

"Lingling, you're here. Do you want your third brother to teach you how to ride a horse?"

Bai Lingling smiled and shook her head.

"No, I'm really afraid of riding."

Seeing Bai Lingling say this, the Fourth Prince raised his lip and said teasingly, "Lingling, are you afraid that I will throw you off the horse like my second brother did before?"

The second prince opened his eyes wide and looked at the fourth prince.

"That happened so long ago, and you're still talking about it!"

Bai Lingling lowered her eyebrows and smiled, "If Fourth Brother hadn't mentioned this, Lingling would have almost forgotten about it. Now that it's mentioned, Lingling is even more scared."

Upon hearing this, the Second Prince led his horse up to the Fourth Prince and hit him on the head.

"It's all your fault. Why bring this up?"

The fourth prince covered his head and explained.

"How do I know Lingling will suddenly remember this?"

After saying that, he rode his horse and galloped into the woods.

The second prince was so angry that he followed her. It was because Bai Lingling had been smiling since she came here.

The eldest prince also smiled when he saw this.

"Third brother, go check on your second brother. He's not going to hold back. Don't start a fight."

The third prince originally wanted to watch a show, but when he heard what the eldest prince said, he decided to watch it up close and went in, leaving the eldest prince alone with Bai Lingling.

The eldest prince looked at Bai Lingling and suddenly said, "Lingling, there are some things I think we should go back and talk about."

Bai Lingling's smile froze. There was always a voice in her heart telling her that this was not a good thing, but she still followed the eldest prince back to the tent.

The eldest prince looked at Bai Lingling with a complicated expression.

"What were you doing during the Lingling fire?"

Bai Lingling said with trembling fingertips: "Lingling said it. Lingling saw Ye Jiuge and Mo Yunqiu arguing, so she lied out of fear."

The eldest prince shook his head after hearing Bai Lingling's explanation.

"Lingling, aren't you going to tell me the truth?"

Bai Lingling's throat tightened when she heard this. Words kept flashing through her mind, but she couldn't form a favorable explanation.

Seeing Bai Lingling remain silent, the eldest prince looked disappointed and said slowly, "Lingling, do you know that your testimony is not convincing at all?"

"That hairpin was a gift from me to you. If you only saw them arguing from a distance, why would your hairpin be in the center of the fire?"

When Bai Lingling heard this, her face gradually turned pale, but the corners of her mouth trembled and she really didn't say anything.

As expected, her eldest brother had already suspected her. She always felt that there was something wrong with the way the eldest prince looked at her when he was protecting her, but perhaps she was feeling guilty at the time and thought that the eldest prince was suspicious of her because he saw her panic.

But he didn't expect that his testimony was so vulnerable. Then why did Bai Juncheng still put Ye Jiuge in jail?

The eldest prince looked at Bai Lingling with a panicked look of confusion and said directly, "Do you think that Father imprisoned Ye Jiuge to convict him? This is just a delaying tactic. Who is Mo Yunqiu? He is the son of the General who protects the country. If this matter is not explained, how can Father face the General who protects the soul?"

Bai Lingling, upon hearing this, realized what kind of trouble she had gotten herself into. Her body immediately began to tremble. She glanced at the eldest prince, whose eyes showed a hint of disappointment towards her. Bai Lingling could no longer bear the mental strain of such a long time.

She cried and said to the eldest prince, "Lingling didn't want to do this. I just wanted to light Ye Jiuge's prey on fire. I didn't intend to harm Mo Yunqiu. But before I could light Ye Jiuge's prey, Mo Yunqiu saw me. I was so scared that the candlestick in my hand fell on the tent. I was so scared that I ran away. Lingling really doesn't know the rest of what happened."

"Lingling just wanted to help her brothers win the game. Lingling didn't expect it to turn out like this."

The eldest prince looked at Bai Lingling, who looked like a tearful woman, and could not utter a word of the reprimand he wanted to say because of her.
