Chapter 86 Duke Zhou’s Governance (1/2)

"Teacher Pu, are you really not going to have dinner with us?" Qiu Changmin confirmed with Pu Li again.

"I have a live broadcast tonight, so I won't go today. You guys can go to the dinner party, and tonight's expenses will be on me."

Seeing that he insisted, Qiu Changmin didn't say anything more. Even if he couldn't read the atmosphere, he could still sense the low pressure coming from his boss. He could only say, "Okay! Then we won't waste your time."

After saying that, he chased after the others without looking back, as if he was afraid that he would be beaten if he was too late.

After Pu Li and the others left, he boarded Luo Ze's aircraft and returned home. It was already late.

The two of them didn't plan to eat. They drank the nutrient solution and changed their clothes before starting the live broadcast.

As soon as the live broadcast started, I saw a dense barrage of comments.

[Wow! The livestream is finally starting! Lizi and you guys are late!]

[What were you doing? Why are you late?]

[I thought you were going to cancel today! Glad you're here.]

[Ahhh, finally here! I thought I wouldn't see you tonight.]

Pu Li saw these comments and apologized, "We both had something to do today, so we went on air right after we got back. We didn't delay everyone's viewing time."

They came back in a hurry, and it was exactly seven o'clock, so I didn't chat with them. I clicked on the video and started playing it.

Chapter 18: Duke Zhou governs the country.

Narrator: In the previous episode, we told the story of King Wulong's conquest of the Shang Dynasty and the founding of the Zhou Dynasty. With the new dynasty in place, there was much to do. But before anything could be done, Ji Falong died of exhaustion. The young ruler was too young to govern. In the midst of this panic, a savior emerged, later known as Duke of Zhou.

Narrator: Duke of Zhou Dan, surnamed Ji and given name Dan, was the first Duke of Zhou in the history of the Zhou Dynasty. Duke of Zhou Long was the fourth son of Ji Chang Long and the fourth brother of Ji Fa Long. After King Wu Long's death, Duke of Zhou Long feared that the people would rebel against the court upon hearing of King Wu Long's death, so he handled government affairs on behalf of the young emperor and assumed the helm of state.

Narrator: Duke Zhou was known for his virtuous character from a young age. He was loyal, kind, and deeply respectful and protective of his brothers. He was also highly capable from a young age, achieving numerous military feats alongside King Wu. After the establishment of the Zhou Dynasty, he became an even more dedicated workaholic. He sought out talented individuals, and regardless of his work, he would welcome them.

Narrator: He works very hard anyway. Why does he work so hard?

Narrator: At that time, the Western Zhou Dynasty had just been established and there was unrest everywhere. In order to consolidate the court, he had to fight so hard.

Narrator: After conquering the Shang Dynasty, King Wu adopted a policy of using the Yin to control the Shang. He enfeoffed King Zhou's son, Wu Kanglong, as the ruler of the Shang Dynasty, using him to rule the people. At the same time, King Wu sent his brothers, Guan Shulong, Cai Shulong, and Huo Shulong, to establish the states of Ye, Yong, and Wei near the capital of the Shang Dynasty to monitor Wu Kanglong. These states became known in history as the Three Surveillance Guards.

Narrator: After King Wu's death, Guan Shulong and his brothers, upon learning that Duke Zhou was handling government affairs on behalf of the young emperor, grew suspicious of him. Seeing an opportunity, Wu Kanglong enlisted the help of Guan Shu, Cai Shu, and others, who began to spread rumors throughout the kingdom.

Guan Shu: "Duke Zhou will be detrimental to the young emperor."

Duke Long of Zhou told Tai Gong Tu and Duke Zhao Tu, "King Wu died young, and King Cheng is still young. I am only doing this to complete the great task of stabilizing the Zhou Dynasty."

Narrator: Guan Shulong and Cai Shulong colluded with Wu Kanglong and united with the Dongyi tribes to rebel against the Zhou Dynasty. Duke Zhou, following orders, led an expedition eastward. After three years of arduous battle, he put down the rebellion, killing Guan Shulong and Wu Kanglong, exiling Cai Shulong, and demoting Huo Shulong to the rank of rabbit. He also subdued the resistance of the Dongyi tribes and expanded the power of the Zhou Dynasty.
