Chapter 156 My Senior Brother and I

Today, the weather was clear and the breeze was gentle. Shen Qingmang led a large group of over thirty disciples to Invisible Peak, where they were warmly received by its leader, Jiang Qin. The two sides engaged in active discussions on disciple training, reaching a preliminary consensus on techniques and combat effectiveness. Then, the leaders of Wuya Peak and Invisible Peak jointly observed their disciples' sparring sessions.

"This kid looks a little familiar." Shen Qingmang said as he looked at the first cultivator who stepped onto the Cangfengtai and specifically challenged Gu Suihan.

"This is the last disciple of Master Baopu, Gongshu Yi," Jiang Qin introduced.

"Oh... the name sounds familiar, maybe I've seen it before."

"He performed well in the sect competition, but Junior Sister was in seclusion at the time, so I guess she didn't get to see him."

"Yes, it's a bit regrettable. But... Senior Brother Jiang, this... the closed disciple of Master Baopu, should I call you Uncle or Brother?"

The participants in this competition were mostly new disciples. Logically, they and Gu Suihan and Si Rong should address each other as brothers, and thus should call Shen Qingmang and Jiang Qin "Uncle Masters." However, Jiang Qin, the new Peak Master, was a disciple of Junior Brother Baopu Zhenjun, and therefore should be considered a peer of Baopu Zhenjun's disciples.

I don’t know if becoming the peak master can automatically count as a generational advancement.

"Junior Sister Shen, are you still concerned about this? Aren't you afraid that your eldest disciple will lose on the field?" Jiang Qin pointed to the hidden front stage below. Two people were fighting fiercely.

Shen Qingmang curled his lips. "Don't be afraid, he will definitely not lose."

As soon as he finished speaking, the battle was decided. Gongshu Yi was already considered a leader among his peers at Wuxing Peak. He was the first to take the stage today, presumably intending to give Wuxing Peak a good start. However, he was defeated in less than a moment. When Gu Suihan pressed his sword to his throat, he even looked a little bewildered.

"Okay Sui Han, put down your sword. That's enough." Shen Qingmang said.

Gu Suihan immediately lowered his sword. Gongshu Yi, regaining his composure, bowed to him. "My skills are inferior to yours. I sincerely admit defeat. I hope to have another opportunity to learn from you, Brother Gu, in the future."

"Oh, I see. He calls you uncle-master." Shen Qingmang said.

Jiang Qin laughed and said loudly, "My men, don't be discouraged and don't lose your fighting spirit."

"yes!"

The second person jumped onto the hidden platform and said that the person he wanted to challenge was also Gu Suihan.

Gu Suihan had just stepped down from the stage. Upon hearing this, he looked up at Shen Qingmang who was sitting in the stands.

Shen Qingmang said, "For the sake of fairness, each player will only play one round, to prevent physical exhaustion from affecting strength, and to prevent others from missing out on a chance to spar."

The Wuxing Peak disciple on the stage looked unwilling. "Then, then it's Hao Xin."

"Hey, why are you looking so sad? Wouldn't it be more fun to fight with me than with my senior brother? I'm the new champion and I'm more powerful than my senior brother." Hao Xin jumped onto the stage and said.

"Excuse me, my third disciple is rather... flamboyant." Shen Qingmang said to Jiang Qin.

"I admire young men with outspoken personalities." Jiang Qin said with a smile, "And when it comes to outspokenness, the boys of my Invisible Sect are probably even more outspoken."

"That's true. The children of the Formless Sect are all as tall and straight as green onions."

"What are you laughing at, Master?"

Shen Qingmang turned his head and found that Gu Suihan had come to the stands and sat next to him quietly.

"Why don't you sit downstairs?" Shen Qingmang asked him, "Your fellow apprentices are all sitting downstairs."

"Seeing that Master and the Peak Master were chatting happily, I was afraid of missing out on any valuable comments, so I couldn't help but come forward to learn." Gu Suihan said seriously.

Shen Qingmang turned his back to Jiang Qin and winked at Gu Suihan.

It sounded so reasonable, but why did she feel that this guy came here just because he was upset seeing her talking to another man?

Jiang Qin didn't feel anything unusual at all. Instead, she praised Gu Suihan and said that he would become a great man in the future.

Shen Qingmang shifted his gaze to the stage and noticed that Hao Xin's sword moves were not as sharp as before, but rather had a touch of gentleness. His moves were also disciplined, and he no longer treaded on the edge of forbidden techniques.

It seems that he has been keeping up his habits very well recently, and there is no sign of him drifting closer to the original.

The two men seemed evenly matched, and the fight lasted for a quarter of an hour before the winner was decided. Hao Xin finally won the game.

"It's time for us at Wuya Peak to choose someone first, right?" Shen Qingmang asked.

"It's natural. It's best if there's give and take."

"Arong, go up and tell the name of whoever you want to challenge." Shen Qingmang encouraged.

Si Rong lifted her skirt and walked onto the stage. She looked around, a look of helplessness on her face. "Sorry, I don't know you all. How about that pretty sister? I want to see how cool a girl looks with a sword."

The girl she was pointing at raised her eyebrows slightly. "Thanks for the compliment."

"She was born with a sword bone." Jiang Qin whispered, "I don't know whether to praise your disciple for being lucky or unlucky to have chosen the strongest female cultivator in my Invisible Sect.

"It doesn't matter. Winning or losing is not important. As long as the kids can learn a little bit from the battle, it will be worth the trip."

"Junior sister is indeed far-sighted."

Si Rong had the upper hand at the beginning, but later became somewhat struggling. Shen Qingmang sat a little closer to Gu Sui Han and discussed with him the performance of the female cultivators of the Invisible Sect.

"This child is very calm and steady, using her techniques fluently. Our Ah Rong is a bit too jumpy, and her techniques aren't very coherent. It's like a random attack that kills a master. If the opponent's morale is lower than yours, they can be easily intimidated. However, when facing a calmer opponent, the disadvantages of this approach become apparent."

"Yeah." Gu Suihan nodded. "Junior sister wants to win, it's very accidental."

In the end, Si Rong was defeated. After jumping off the Cangfengtai, she hugged Hao Xin and sobbed.

Shen Qingmang quickly walked over to comfort her: "Winning or losing is not important, Arong, it's just a competition."

"But I, I'm so useless. Big Brother and Little Brother both won, but it just happened that I failed. Will they think that the entire Wuya Sect is useless because of the joke I made?"

"Don't we still have me and my senior brother to hold up the front?" Hao Xin raised an eyebrow. "Don't worry, you're the only one holding the key. They won't make a mistake and accidentally hurt anyone else."

Shen Qingmang patted the back of his young disciple's head. "If you can't speak, then shut up. Our Wuya Sect doesn't need victory to maintain its reputation. I've already told you this is just a sparring match, to help you identify and address your weaknesses. Ah Rong, don't be so quick to cry. Calm down and think about why you lost just now."

Si Rong looked at her with tears in her eyes: "Now that I've thought it through, do I still need to write a summary report of several hundred words and submit it to Master?"

Shen Qingmang was pleasantly surprised and said, "You're going to give yourself additional tasks? That's great. I'll do as you say."

Si Rong burped.
