"Is it today? Master Qiongju and Master Qionggui are both here. That divine fortune teller from the Fangyuan Sect should be here soon, right?"
"My name is Miao Xuan Zhenren. 'Divine Calculator' is too frivolous, isn't it? Be careful or she'll punish you if she hears."
"What are you afraid of? Just because she says she's the daughter of destiny, does that mean she can really act on behalf of heaven? She's certainly very foresighted, but our Qiongju Master is no slouch either. Wasn't the solar eclipse a few years ago predicted by our Master Qiongju?"
"Your reputation is almost higher than your knowledge." Qi Yao listened to the discussion of the younger generation not far away and poked Shen Qingmang's waist.
"This is Taichu Sect, so the kids will naturally lean towards me. If even the people inside Taichu respect Yang Zhidu more, wouldn't you think it's scary, Senior Sister?" Shen Qingmang's expression was indifferent.
"That's true. But why did you come out to greet Zhidu? If it weren't for the fact that she had never been to Taichu Sect, I wouldn't have come out to greet her. I could have just let her go to Wuya Peak to find me."
"Of course I've heard of you for a long time, and I can't wait to meet this 'woman of destiny'."
"Master. Why didn't you call me? It would be so hard for me to find you."
Shen Qingmang heard Gu Suihan's voice and turned around quickly. "Why are you here?"
Gu Suihan walked over to her and whispered in her ear, "I'm worried that Master might be in danger. After all, that person is unfathomable."
"Oh, are you guys making it public?" Qi Yao said with a smile as he looked at the intimate posture of the two people.
"No, no." Shen Qingmang tried to move to the left, slightly away from Gu Suihan. "Senior Sister, you must continue to keep this a secret for me."
"Don't worry. If you can't stay in Taichu Sect any longer, feel free to come to Chaohua Palace to find me, your senior sister."
"I'm not going to be expelled from the sect, am I?" Shen Qingmang laughed. "Master already knows."
"Hiss..." Qi Yao took a breath. "How come you're still safe and sound..."
Before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by her Taoist companion Cheng Luan: "Sister, it seems that Master Miao Xuan has arrived."
Several people looked down the mountain. A woman in green slowly approached, holding an umbrella. Her face was mostly obscured by the umbrella, making it difficult to see clearly. Shen Qingmang looked up at the glaring sun and wondered if the ancients also had parasols.
"I've finally got you here. Is today a good day? This time is neither too early nor too late, right?" Qi Yao walked over with a smile, took the hand of the person under the umbrella, and led her to the mountain gate.
Shen Qingmang also symbolically took two steps forward, striking a welcoming gesture. "I've long heard of Master Miaoxuan's great name, but unfortunately, I've never met him. Qingmang has come uninvited today because I truly admire your demeanor. I hope you won't blame me for being so rude."
When she saw the true face of the person under the umbrella, she suddenly stopped talking.
Yang Zhidu raised his head and smiled at her. "How could I blame you? After all, even though we've never met, we've been friends for a long time."
"Li, Shu, Tong." Shen Qingmang squeezed out a few words from between his teeth. "Why is it you?"
Qi Yao asked curiously, "Did you two know each other before? Could it be that Zhidu and you have traveled under another name?"
Yang Zhidu said calmly, "Master Qiongju and I have a connection."
"Let's go. I'll take you to see our Wuya Peak... Junior Sister?"
Qi Yao led Yang Zhidu up the mountain, but was stopped by Shen Qingmang.
"Senior Sister, I'm truly thrilled to have seen the true form of Master Miao Xuan. Could you allow me to entertain him first? Qiong Ju is the honored leader of Wuya Peak. It's only natural that we should offer a warm welcome to this distinguished guest."
"Then... Zhidu..."
"It is a great honor for Zhidu to have the favor of Master Qiongju. I am not a bad guest, so I will not offend the host."
"Then, Master Miao Xuan, please."
"Master Qiongju, please."
The two of them walked hand in hand towards Wuya Peak together. The other three stayed where they were, all a little confused.
"Does your master have a past with Zhidu?" Qi Yao asked Gu Suihan, "Why do I feel like there's something strange going on between them?"
"Disciple doesn't know..." Gu Sui Han shook his head.
He couldn't hear clearly the name that his master had just called out, but he felt that it seemed familiar.
Had she mentioned this name before? On what occasion?
Li, someone with the surname Li...
Gu Sui Han's expression suddenly changed and he chased after him.
Qi Yao stayed where he was, looking at each other in bewilderment.
"What the hell is going on?"
"Who knows?"
Shen Qingmang brought Yang Zhidu to Linyuan Hall as quickly as possible. As soon as they entered the main hall, he closed the door behind him and leaned against it, saying, "Li Shutong, what the hell are you doing?"
"What is Master Qiongju saying? I don't understand. Is this how you, the Wuya Sect, treat guests? Not even a cup of tea, and you just lock people in the hall?" Yang Zhidu curled the corners of his lips.
Shen Qingmang looked at the familiar round face in front of him and suppressed his anger. "How can there be no tea? The best Yunding Mountain Mist, used to entertain Master Miaoxuan."
As she spoke, she flipped her hand and a cup of steaming tea appeared on the table in an instant.
"Alas, the magic that conjures up always lacks a certain flavor. The mist on the top of Wuya Peak's cloud-top is only truly pure when paired with the dew plucked from the veins of the Yuheng bamboo leaves before the first rays of morning sun filter through the bamboo forest." Yang Zhidu lifted the lid of the cup, squinted his eyes, and sniffed. "The water spirit energy extracted hastily lacks that flavor."
"Master Miaoxuan truly understands every detail of our Taichu Sect. I believe this is due to the meticulous care he put into his depictions." Shen Qingmang stepped forward. "In that case, Master, why don't you specify what kind of hospitality you require? Qingmang will do my best to satisfy your needs."
"Master Qiongju is so polite. You are Qi Yao's close junior sister, so naturally you are also my friend. As long as the intention is there, these conventional etiquettes don't matter."
"Then Qingmang will no longer be polite." Shen Qingmang sat down across from Yang Zhidu and looked at her intently. "What exactly is Master Miaoxuan doing here in Taichu? Is it to 'set things right'?"
"Where did these four words come from?"
Shen Qingmang's answer was irrelevant. "I thought this game of chess was a contest between pieces, but I didn't expect the player to be willing to become a piece and personally participate in the battle. Isn't he afraid of being defeated on the chessboard?"
"Qing Mang really cares about me. You don't have to belittle yourself and call yourself a chess piece. You are far more interesting than an unconscious chess piece."
"What about the person who overturned the chessboard? Maybe he would get a 'interesting' call from Master Miao Xuan?" Gu Sui Han pushed open the door of the hall and rushed in.
Yang Zhidu's expression suddenly turned cold, while Shen Qingmang became anxious. "Sui Han, this isn't the place for you. Go back to Qiongzhi Hall and wait for me, dear."
"What a loving couple!" Yang Zhidu sneered. "Aren't you afraid of never returning?"
Gu Suihan walked behind Shen Qingmang and rested his hands on the back of her chair. "Master, you don't have to protect me. I can share the responsibility with you."
