Shen Qingmang rambled on for a long time before retreating to the door. "Go to bed early tonight, and remember to set your alarm so you don't get late tomorrow. It takes me fifteen minutes to walk from here to school at my pace, but you should be able to walk faster."
"Where are you going, teacher?" he asked.
"I'll stay at a nearby hotel for one night. It's not too far away. If you need anything urgent, you can call me."
"Why are you leaving? This is your home." He bit his lip.
"There is only one bed at home. I can't possibly share it with you, right? We have no choice but to go to a hotel if we have nowhere else to stay. But hotels also have their advantages. The beds are softer, and you can get breakfast. The room with breakfast is not much more expensive." Shen Qingmang had already started putting on her shoes when she spoke, and Gu Suihan grabbed her.
"Teacher, you don't have to leave. I can sleep on the sofa."
"How can that be possible? This small sofa of mine isn't meant to be a sofa bed. It's simply not big enough. You're so tall, and if you want to sleep on it you'll have to curl up, which is too uncomfortable."
"It's okay, it's just for this one night. I don't need to sleep. Teacher, please don't leave. If you leave, I'll feel so guilty that I won't be able to sleep. Then neither of us will benefit. It's a lose-lose situation."
"Don't think too much. It's my duty to take you in. You wasted time to protect me. It's only normal for me to repay you. Don't feel any psychological burden." She said softly.
"Teacher, actually, I..." Seeing that she was unmoved, Gu Suihan hesitated for a moment and said, "I'm afraid of the dark, and I'm afraid of sleeping alone."
Shen Qingmang smiled. "You're afraid of the dark, yet you followed me all the way here? You're amazing. If you're afraid of sleeping alone... wouldn't you sleep alone on the sofa, too?"
"Knowing you're next door, I feel much more at ease. But if you were somewhere else, I'd be really scared if I were the only one left in such a big house. Please, just stay." He softened his voice and acted coquettishly.
Shen Qingmang sighed. "Okay, then I'll stay. I'll try to find a way to make you sleep more comfortably."
