Gu Suihan was thinking about his second junior sister who looked silly in his eyes, but she actually appeared in his sight, so that he was caught off guard and even forgot to look away.
The other person noticed him, his eyes sparkling, and he trotted over. "Squad leader! I caught you! Which pretty girl are you dating?"
After saying that, Si Rong turned around curiously to look at the person sitting opposite Gu Sui Han. When she saw this, she almost fell to her knees.
"Mr. Shen...Mr. Shen?"
Shen Qingmang greeted her awkwardly. "Arong, you're here for hotpot too."
"Yes, I came here alone." Si Rong swallowed. "No, I won't bother you anymore. I'll go first..."
"Miss, can you use your brains? You ran away when I wasn't watching you. The waiter clearly pointed us in the other direction, and you..."
The boy's loud voice suddenly stopped when he saw the person next to the girl, as if someone was strangling him.
Gu Suihan seized the opportunity and turned the tide of the battle: "Si Rong, you came here alone?"
"Teacher Shen." Hao Xin lowered his head. "We met by chance."
"Yes, yes, it was a chance encounter. I really wanted to eat hot pot today, so I ran out. Unexpectedly, I ran into Hao Xin at the door. He also wanted to eat hot pot, so we decided to eat together and save the money for the hot pot base." Si Rong said very quickly.
Shen Qingmang smiled and said, "Why are you so nervous? Even if you two had made an appointment to eat hot pot together in advance, I wouldn't say anything. But since we've met, do you want to share a table with us?"
"Forget it." Gu Suihan said immediately: "We've been eating for a long time, and the bottom of the pot has turned cloudy. It's not good to let others eat our leftovers, right?"
"I don't mind!" Si Rong said, "I want to eat hot pot with Teacher Shen! Let's share a table!" As she said that, she rushed to sit next to Shen Qingmang. Hao Xin glanced at her and sat next to Gu Suihan opposite.
Gu Suihan moved inward, his expression somewhat unhappy. The expression on Hao Xin's face was exactly the same as his, as if they were cast in the same mold.
The two girls started chatting happily.
"Teacher Shen, you look so beautiful today! Your earrings are so delicate, I didn't even notice you had pierced ears."
"I don't have pierced ears. This is an ear clip. Do you want to try it?" Shen Qingmang said as he took the ear clip off. Si Rong brushed aside the hair beside her ears and said softly, "Teacher, help me put it on."
"Okay." Shen Qingmang gently clipped the pentagram earring onto her earlobe. "I'm going to tighten it. Tell me if it hurts."
"Uh-huh!"
Hao Xin said in a low voice: "Squad leader, why are you eating with the deputy squad leader?"
"It's a long story."
Hao Xin listened attentively, but Gu Sui Han only said these four words and then shut up.
"No, squad leader, just keep it short."
Before he could even get an answer, Shen Qingmang's attention shifted to him. "What would Hao Xin like to eat? Snowflake beef?"
"Ah? Oh, that's too expensive, isn't it?" Hao Xin looked at the menu. "A regular beef roll will do."
"Let's order three more plates of meat. What else do you want besides beef? Lamb rolls?"
"Anything is fine."
The second half of the meal was spent with Si Rong chatting with Shen Qingmang while the two boys ate their meat in silence. When Shen Qingmang was about to pay, Si Rong took out his membership card. "Teacher, I'll do it! I have their VIP membership! I spent so much money on it, it won't go to waste!"
Gu Suihan sighed. No matter where she went, Si Rong was always the carefree little princess.
Shen Qingmang felt embarrassed and wanted to transfer the money to Si Rong, but Si Rong refused to give it to him. "Teacher, if you really can't feel comfortable without spending money, please buy us a cup of milk tea."
"Okay, what would you like to drink?" Shen Qingmang said cheerfully.
"Didn't you have a drink before eating hot pot?" Hao Xin said to Si Rong.
"That cup was an appetite whet, and drinking it now helps with digestion." Si Rong argued confidently.
After a while, four people were walking in the mall with four cups of milk tea in their hands. The combination of handsome men and beautiful women attracted a lot of people's attention.
"Teacher, do you want to go shopping on the first floor? There is a clothing store that I particularly like!" said Si Rong.
Shen Qingmang looked at her gently: "Have you finished your homework?"
As soon as the words were spoken, the expressions of the other three people froze.
"Well... okay then. I'll go home and do my homework after I finish this cup of milk tea." Si Rong said aggrievedly.
Shen Qingmang touched her head.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, she said goodbye to her three students and returned to her rented house. The house was silent. She recalled the laughter and joy at lunch and felt a little lonely.
For some reason, she felt that this was not the first time she had eaten with the three of them, and there was a strange sense of familiarity at the dinner table.
What's wrong with me? Is it because I've been alone for too long and long for company, so I see every lively scene as something I've once had?
There seemed to be something struggling in my mind, but no matter what I did, I couldn't break through the last layer of window paper.
The more she thought about it, the more her headache grew. She gave up, leaving only a lingering worry in her heart: Why hadn't the two children asked her why she was having dinner with Gu Suihan? Would they tell everyone about it when they returned to school on Monday? How could she explain it to Gu Suihan while protecting his privacy and preventing others from misinterpreting their special relationship?
However, she did not hear any rumors in the following days, and the hot pot seemed to have become an unspoken secret among the four people.
Gu Suihan had wanted to continue playing it down for a while, but he discovered that Shen Qingmang, the conscientious deputy head teacher, wasn't the only one paying attention to his grades. For every subject he failed in, the teacher called him in for a talk, and he was called on in class more often than before.
