"Mani Mani Shen Qingmang? He's distracted while having dinner with me. Do you still want to be friends with this person?" Qi Yao knocked on the table.
Shen Qingmang quickly put down his phone and looked up at her. "It's just a reply, how could I ignore you?"
"Hurry up, order the food."
"Hmm? Sister Miaoran hasn't arrived yet? Let's wait until she arrives."
"Tsk, you're just brushing me off before she even shows up. You're having this meal just to see her, right? Okay, I get it. I'm just superfluous. I shouldn't have introduced you two to each other in the first place."
Shen Qingmang smiled and said, "What's wrong with you today? You're so upset. Who has offended our Sister Yao?"
Qi Yao snorted coldly. "What a little bastard. I never thought that one day I would be used as a tool by others."
"Sorry, sorry, I'm late!" Su Miaoran walked over quickly, looking apologetic. "I realized I forgot my bag when I got to the station, so I had to go back home to get it. It wasted a lot of time. Is Ayao angry because of waiting?"
Su Miaoran is Qi Yao's good friend and an English teacher at another high school. Shen Qingmang met her through Qi Yao, and the three of them often go out shopping and eating together on weekends.
Qi Yao said: "No, don't worry, I was just complaining to Qing Mang about other annoying things."
"What's wrong?"
"Do you still remember the junior I told you about?"
"Remember, the guy who asked you about the postgraduate entrance exam, didn't you have a good impression of him?" Su Miaoran said.
"What junior fellow student?" Shen Qingmang looked bewildered.
"I met an undergraduate student online last summer. He said he was going to be a senior and wanted to apply to the School of Foreign Languages at our university for graduate studies. He asked if I had any experience sharing on the postgraduate entrance exam. I was originally going to reject him outright because I had been admitted to graduate school and wasn't familiar with the process. But I looked through his Moments and saw that he was a handsome guy, so I softened my heart and stayed with him."
"It's something you would do." Shen Qingmang smiled.
"He was quite polite, sweet but not greasy. I asked some of my former classmates and managed to share some of my experiences with him. After that, we chatted sporadically over the last semester. Sometimes he asked me questions about my major, sometimes we just chatted, and... I felt like we both had a crush on each other."
"Isn't this great? It's the young brother you like."
"The key is!" Qi Yao slammed the table. "Didn't the written exam results come out a few days ago? He scored pretty high, and as long as he didn't perform too badly in the interview, he'd be fine. And then he, he deleted me!"
Shen Qingmang and Su Miaoran looked at each other in surprise.
There are actually men in this world who would delete Qi Yao’s WeChat.
"So... he just treats you as a tool?" Su Miaoran asked, "You're useless after the exam?"
"Yeah! I'm so pissed! I've been playing around with women for so many years, but I ended up in a ditch and got tricked by this little brat! I spent ages helping him collect those postgraduate entrance exam materials, and even spent half a year chatting with him. Now I think about it, I was completely out of my mind!"
"This handsome boy isn't very authentic." Su Miaoran sighed.
"What handsome guy? Pah!" Qi Yao's face was full of anger. "Even his photos are fake. I later saw the photos he sent me on Weibo. It turned out to be a photo of a small internet celebrity. That internet celebrity was not him at all. This person is fake from head to toe!"
Shen Qingmang subconsciously glanced at his cell phone.
"Sisters, seriously, listen to my advice. It doesn't matter what kind of relationship you have, but don't get involved in online romance. You can't even tell if the other person is a human or a dog over the Internet!"
Shen Qingmang's phone screen lit up, and the junior student opposite her, who looked like a human or a dog, sent her another message.
Gu Suihan was doing the test paper while chatting on his mobile phone. He had become familiar with the routine in the past few days and was able to play the role of a male college student without any major flaws. The enthusiastic Shen Qingmang did not seem to be wary of him and was very willing to chat with him.
Just now, the two people were talking about the interesting things that Shen Qingmang encountered when he was teaching in rural areas. For some reason, the other party suddenly stopped talking.
He would occasionally check his phone screen, and every time the message bar was empty.
Is he busy? Or is he eating? It's noon now, so eating should be normal, right?
He waited patiently, but by three o'clock in the afternoon, there was still no reply from the other party.
He began to get anxious and checked his chat history again and again to make sure he had not been exposed.
It wasn't until after dinner that he finally heard from the other party: "Do you have any other questions for me about volunteer teaching and postgraduate study?" If not, let's not talk about it.
The cold years are like falling into an ice cave.
What happened? Why was Master so tough? Could it be that there was a flaw in his identity?
He held the phone, thought for a long time, and replied: "Sorry, did I bother you too much? Your words have been very helpful to me, so I really want to continue communicating with you. Did I do something wrong to upset you? Tell me, I will definitely change!"
He waited nervously for the next words. This time, Shen Qingmang replied quickly: "No, you're very nice, but I don't think we need to chat about so many insignificant things, right? You're a junior now, so you should still have classes, right? Spend more time on your studies. Teaching in rural areas doesn't completely ignore GPA for guaranteed admission to graduate school."
This means refusing further communication. Gu Suihan bit his lip, typed and deleted the words on his phone, and finally froze: I understand, thank you, senior sister. I'm sorry to bother you for so long, can you leave your address so I can send you a thank you gift
The other party rejected him again.
He turned off his phone and rubbed his face.
The two of them had a very pleasant chat over the past two days. He thought he had changed his identity and successfully become familiar with her, but he didn't expect that it was all in vain.
