Master and Disciple Extra: Modern Times (7)

Standing in the sun, Gu Suihan looked a little dazed when he looked up at the sign of "Phoenix Study Room" in front of him.

He found that he had underestimated the convenience of modern society. He did not expect that there would be a special study room to meet the students' holiday study needs.

Shen Qingmang's expression was delighted. "Let's go! This is the study room I carefully selected. It's not far from your home, and the environment is nice, much better than my shabby apartment. I've booked a single room for a month, and you can come here to study whenever you want."

"I'm sorry for the expense, teacher. I'll transfer the money to you." He came to his senses and said.

"No, no, it's not much money a month. Your good grades will be the biggest reward for me." Shen Qingmang waved his hand.

Gu Suihan sighed silently and followed her into the reserved study room. The room was small, with only two sets of desks and chairs, one for each of them. He pulled out three sets of papers. Shen Qingmang glanced at his watch and said, "The college entrance examination starts at 9 o'clock sharp. You should wait until 9 o'clock to start answering the questions. You can still rest for ten minutes now."

"Will you stay with me?" he asked.

"Yes. As the invigilator, I'm responsible for creating a more realistic exam environment for you. But walking around in this room isn't very practical. It's too small, and I'd just be walking around in circles. It's better for me to sit to the side so you can feel the presence of other people."

"Thank you, teacher."

"You're welcome. Get yourself ready for the exam. There are only eight minutes left."

Gu Sui Han nodded.

The study room became quiet. Shen Qingmang lowered his head and fiddled with his phone, stealing glances at her from time to time.

Was she waiting for news from her junior? He used to take time out every weekend to chat with her online. It had become a habit, but now he had broken it. He was so impatient that he kept wanting to pull out his phone and chat with her a few more times. He also wanted to deliberately leave her alone for two days to see if she would notice his disappearance and send a message to show her concern.

Being with her as a junior and as a student were two completely different experiences. When he was a junior, their interactions were more extensive and in-depth, and she seemed more like the person they were when they were together, though it was a shame he couldn't meet her in person. When he was a student, he could spend time with her, observing her every move, but in his presence, she would become more reserved, acting like a superior teacher.

"It's almost time, Gu Suihan, are you ready for the exam?" Shen Qingmang looked up at him.

"Oh, okay." Gu Suihan sat upright and gripped the pen tightly.

"One minute countdown... Ding-ling-ling, the test begins."

He began to answer the questions seriously, while Shen Qingmang put down his phone and took out a book from his bag to read. In the small study room, the only sounds were the rustling of pens across paper and the sound of pages turning.

Two and a half hours later, Shen Qingmang's phone rang, and she stood up. "The exam is over, student, please put down your pen."

Gu Suihan smiled and stepped back. "I've finished my answer. Please review it, Mr. Shen."

"Eat first, and then we'll talk after dinner."

The two men went to a nearby noodle shop and ordered a bowl of noodles each. Gu Sui Han took out his mobile phone and made a bold move.

He sent a message to Shen Qingmang using his junior’s QQ: I slept until noon and then got up to eat. What are you doing, senior?

Shen Qingmang took a sip of noodles and opened his phone, put down his chopsticks and replied to the message. "Lunch"

Gu Suihan used the big bowl as a cover, and used chopsticks with his right hand to eat noodles as usual, while operating his mobile phone with his left hand: With your sister?

“This time with students.”

"Working overtime on weekends?"

"I guess so. He is tutoring our class monitor."

"She's so lucky, I also want a private tutor from my senior sister."

"Haven't I been giving you special treatment?"

"Haha, that's true. Is this student as obedient as me?"

“He’s a very hard-working kid.”

Gu Suihan took a bite of the steak, sent another message, and then looked at Shen Qingmang across from him: "Who is the teacher chatting with? The noodles must be cold after not eating them for too long, right?"

Shen Qingmang quickly put down his phone. "Sorry, I'll just eat now."

"Am I taking up too much of your time? Are you talking to a friend?"

"It's just small talk. It's nothing important. It's okay."

"Oh... Is that Teacher Qi Yao? I see you have a good relationship with her."

"No, it's other friends."

"People who can be friends with teachers are all excellent, right?"

Shen Qingmang raised an eyebrow. "Why are you curious about the teacher's private life? Are you saying it's your way of relaxing?"

Gu Suihan looked embarrassed, as if he had been seen through. "Hehe, I'm just curious about the teacher."

"You seemed to be looking at your phone just now."

"My parents asked me how I was doing, and I reported to them."

"Oh, I see. Let's eat noodles."

"Let's eat noodles."

The two people said the same thing at the same time. Shen Qingmang was a little surprised. Gu Suihan lowered his head and smiled, concentrating on eating noodles.

After dinner, they returned to the study room. Shen Qingmang took Gu Suihan's test paper and began to grade it according to the standard answers. He looked a little nervous, and seeing this, she asked him to rest for a while.

Gu Sui Han obediently lay on the table and closed his eyes for a nap.

She carefully corrected his test paper and was satisfied with his accuracy in the multiple-choice questions. When she turned to the reading comprehension questions at the back, she was attracted by the other party's pleasing handwriting.

This kid has to have the best handwriting in the class, right? It's so pleasing to the eye. But the composition... why did it go off topic again?

Shen Qingmang gave his composition a slightly lower score, summed up the scores of each part, and wrote "121" on the first page of the test paper.
