Shen Qingmang considered herself a loving mother, just as she considered herself a gentle teacher. However, both the children and the apprentices seemed a little afraid of her. She had thought Yaoyao and Canggeng would be around her every day, but once they could walk, they rarely stayed quietly by her side and often ran around.
She visited her eldest brother, thought for a while, and then went to find her second brother.
Qi Xiao's courtyard was deep in the Wendao Peak. She finally found it and discovered that there was another old acquaintance there, Yi Qing.
Yiqing was a little surprised to see her, but still greeted her. "Madam, good afternoon."
Qi Xiao chuckled, Shen Qingmang was stunned for a moment, and exclaimed, "Ah."
Oh, what a misunderstanding! She actually forgot to tell Senior Brother Yiqing her true identity. When she told Second Senior Brother and Third Senior Sister, Yiqing was in seclusion, and she forgot about it afterwards. However, Ah Rong did such a good job of keeping it a secret that she even kept it a secret from her own father.
She looked at Qi Xiao and asked him, who looked like he was enjoying the show.
Yiqing was a little confused. "What's wrong with you guys? Did I call you the wrong name? I've been visiting Daofeng recently, and I heard that the master and his wife are still as loving as ever."
Shen Qingmang also smiled. "Brother Yiqing, you're not wrong. But I still prefer to hear others call me by my own identity, like you calling me Junior Sister."
Yiqing was stunned for a second, then slapped his thigh. "I was wondering why Arong is so close to you. It turns out you...it turns out you! Oh my, this, this, this is so great!"
As he spoke, he actually burst into tears.
Qi Xiao quickly persuaded him: "Alright, alright, why are you crying about such a good thing? Even if you don't feel ashamed, I do."
"Brother Yiqing hasn't changed at all over these years." Shen Qingmang's eyes were warm. "Thank you for your concern."
Yiqing wiped away her tears. "It's strange, even though you look nothing like Junior Sister Qingmang, as soon as you opened your mouth, I could tell you were indeed Junior Sister Qingmang."
"Would you have thought of it if she hadn't mentioned it?" Qi Xiao snorted coldly.
Shen Qingmang knew that he was blaming him for not telling him in time, so he smiled and said, "I came here today to thank Second Senior Brother. I heard that those two troublesome people in my family always come to bother you and beg you to teach them the magic."
Qi Xiao's expression softened considerably. "No problem, I happen to have some free time, so I'll give you some pointers."
"Those two babies you gave birth to? They're this big now? That's not right. I remember you weren't pregnant when I came out of retreat, and you were pregnant for more than two years before giving birth, right? Ah Rong has asked me several times about whether there's a difference between giving birth as a cultivator and as a mortal, and whether there's anything extra to be aware of. She spoke as if she'd seen mortals give birth before."
"They just turned three this year." Shen Qingmang said, pressing his hand down. "That's about the height."
Qi Xiao chimed in: "They are just two little idiots who can't even hold a heavy sword steadily, but they learn magic quickly. They can come back after just one or two lessons. They are much smarter than Huaining."
"Huaining is now Sui Han's right-hand man. He is very tactful in dealing with people. He doesn't seem like the kind of disciple you can teach." Shen Qingmang teased.
"Heh, I think he'd rather be your apprentice."
"Oh, let's not mention the trivial things from so many years ago. Second brother, I'm naturally grateful that you are willing to teach them magic, but you should slow down when teaching the high-level magic. These two kids used the Cloud-Stepping Technique to run to the Asking Dao Peak today while I wasn't paying attention. What if they ran out of strength and fell down? I'm scared just thinking about it now." Shen Qingmang frowned.
The two men were shocked when they heard this. Yiqing said that Arong was much more obedient than them when he was a child. Qi Xiao said that he would consider teaching him step by step in the future.
"If they do something wrong, talk to them properly, don't be sarcastic." Shen Qingmang was still a little worried. She could still vividly remember Huaining's disheartened look, and she didn't understand why her child had to cling to Second Brother.
"If you're really worried, just lock them up." Qi Xiao said impatiently, "How can I discipline children that young? You're overthinking it."
Yiqing smoothed things over. "Junior sister, you're just too concerned. I've been through this, so I understand your feelings. I haven't even met the two children yet, but from your description, I know they must be adorable. I'd love to see them if I get a chance."
However, no one expected that the "opportunity" Yiqing had mentioned would take fifteen years to come. A few days after saying this, he went into seclusion again, and when he came out again, it was already Yaoyao and Canggeng's eighteenth birthday.
As a modern person, Shen Qingmang held the deeply ingrained view that eighteen was considered adulthood. Gu Suihan, influenced by his surroundings in the modern fantasy world, also began to agree with this view. Consequently, the two of them attached great importance to their child's eighteenth birthday, hosting a large birthday banquet at Wuya Peak and inviting many people to attend.
Si Rong decorated the venue with her exotic flowers and plants, and Hao Xin made a giant birthday cake. Gu Suihan and Shen Qingmang each prepared a magical instrument of their own for the children. Gu Suihan forged a sword, and Shen Qingmang carved a flute. They put so much effort into it that the blisters and cuts on their hands still remained.
Other elders and peers that the siblings had met over the years also sent gifts to congratulate them. When Yiqing arrived, Yaoyao and Canggeng were trying out the magic weapons given by their parents. Canggeng performed a sword dance, which amazed everyone. Yaoyao was not to be outdone and played a tune on the flute.
"The girl's flute sounds clear and melodious, but it's a pity that she has the skills but no passion." Yiqing sighed after listening.
Many people turned around to look. Zhong Yingshao said with a smile, "So it was Senior Brother Yiqing. If someone else said this, I might have refuted them. But Senior Brother Yiqing is the best at playing the flute in the Wuyin Sect. Yingshao doesn't dare to act rashly."
