The next day, outside the city gate.
Feng Xin left the palace to see Feng Mo off.
She stood in front of Feng Mo's horse, looking up at him. Seeing that his face was much paler than usual, she felt a little worried.
Yesterday, my brother went somewhere and when he came back, his face was extremely pale and looked terrible.
She wanted to ask, but seeing that he was in a bad mood, she didn't dare to ask.
The reason my brother is like this is probably because he is about to leave the capital, and that's why he's feeling sad.
Aside from this reason, she couldn't understand what else could affect her brother's mood.
She whispered, "Brother, be careful on your journey. Take good care of yourself on your trip to Xuzhou. I will visit you in Xuzhou when I have time. Don't worry about Mother. I will take care of her."
Feng Mo patted her head, feeling a deep sense of reluctance to part with his only younger sister.
"I know I'm not here. Take good care of yourself. If anything happens, write to me."
"I understand," Feng Xin replied dejectedly, forcing back her tears.
"Go back, I'm leaving." Feng Mo said, pulling on the reins, taking one last look at the majestic city walls of the capital, spurring his horse forward.
Just then, a carriage sped out of the city gate.
Rong Yiyi poked her head out of the carriage, "Your Highness, wait for me."
Upon seeing her, Feng Xin forgot all her sadness and her expression instantly darkened.
"This woman is truly shameless."
Feng Mo glanced at the carriage approaching them, paused for a moment, and then said, "Xin'er, you mustn't be rude."
Feng Xin looked at him in surprise, then realized what he meant and stamped her foot, saying, "Brother, why are you still siding with her?"
“At least, she’s willing to go to Xuzhou with me,” Feng Mo said calmly.
Feng Xin was speechless.
Soon after, Rong Yiyi's carriage arrived.
Rong Yiyi lifted the curtain, about to speak, but Feng Mo said calmly, "Let's go." After speaking, he rode off on his horse first, and the guards quickly followed.
Rong Yiyi clenched the handkerchief in her hand, feeling somewhat unable to bear his coldness.
Feng Xin walked to the car window, stared at her, and warned, "Rong Yiyi, you begged to come to Xuzhou with my brother. You better remember to serve my brother well. If you dare to have any disloyal thoughts, I will personally go to Xuzhou and kill you."
Rong Yiyi was already somewhat unhappy, and this warning only made her feel more uncomfortable.
"Princess, you should mind your own business. You don't need to worry about my affairs with the Prince." With that, she lowered the curtain and ordered, "Let's go, follow the Prince."
The coachman cracked his whip and drove the carriage quickly away.
Feng Xin swallowed a mouthful of dust, and her eyebrows shot up in anger.
"Li Mei, I want Rong Yiyi's head!"
Standing behind her, Li Mei glanced at her and said helplessly, "This subordinate cannot do it."
Upon hearing this, Feng Xin turned around in anger and kicked him.
"Then what use are you to me?" he said angrily, then mounted his horse and rode into the city.
Seeing this, Li Mei quickly followed.
The Imperial Palace.
On this day, when Emperor Zhaojing finished his court session, he summoned Xie Jingrun to the Imperial Study.
Looking at his tall and handsome son, Emperor Zhaojing was very pleased. He took out a roster, tossed it to him, and said with a smile, "Take a look. These are portraits of noble ladies collected by officials of the Ministry of Rites. See if there are any you like."
Xie Jingrun had intended to reach out and take it, but upon hearing this, he withdrew his hand.
"Smack!"
The so-called roster fell directly to the ground.
Emperor Zhaojing: "..."
Xie Jingrun glanced at him. "There's nothing I like."
