The bold and explicit images in the book left him momentarily at a loss, unsure of what to do.
He could handle even the most difficult official matters with ease, but this situation before him left him somewhat helpless.
For a moment, he squatted there, not moving for a long time.
Shangguan Yanran had already come to her senses by now. When her eyes met the open screen, her mind went blank.
In private, no matter how bold and unrestrained she was, that was still in private. It was embarrassing for her to expose her little secret to others in such a blatant way.
Her face flushed, and she hurriedly squatted down, closing the picture book. She was thinking about how to resolve the awkward situation and make Fu Rongchen keep quiet so that it wouldn't be revealed to anyone, especially not to her father.
However, when she looked up, she saw that the man opposite her had turned completely red, even his ears were red. He was less aloof and indifferent than usual, and more down-to-earth.
She made a sound of surprise, then looked at him with a hint of amusement, ignoring her storybook and sketchbook. She crossed her arms and looked at him leisurely. "Fu Rongchen, why are you blushing?"
Fu Rongchen finally came to his senses and looked up at her calmly.
I don't know when it started, but this girl stopped calling him Rong Chen brother and started calling him by his full name.
"You've mistaken me for someone else." After a long silence, he said calmly, the blush on his handsome face fading, making it seem as if Shangguan Yanran had simply misjudged him.
Shangguan Yanran's beautiful brows furrowed, somewhat incredulous that this man would blatantly lie.
"I'm not seventy or eighty yet, my eyesight isn't failing me," she said defiantly.
Fu Rongchen glanced at her, then ignored her and reached out to pick up the fallen storybooks and picture books one by one, before casually handing them back to her.
Shangguan Yanran took the books and hugged them all to her chest.
Seeing how much she cherished it, Fu Rongchen held back for a moment before scolding her, "You're a young lady, you shouldn't be looking at these things. If others find out, it will ruin your reputation."
Shangguan Yanran rolled her eyes at him without any politeness, "Stop nagging!"
Fu Rongchen choked for a moment, really not wanting to care about her anymore, but thinking that she was still young, if she continued to make mistakes like this, who knew what she would become in the future.
He frowned slightly, then softened his voice, "Listen to me, don't look at those things."
Shangguan Yanran was taken aback. Seeing the genuine concern on his face, a chord in her heart was touched. But thinking of his distance from her lately, she couldn't help but blurt out, "You have the nerve to lecture me? You'd be better off worrying about yourself. I'm telling you, you're getting on in years, and you still haven't settled down. Shouldn't you reflect on your own problems?"
Fu Rongchen: "..."
Is he very old?
While I was still in a daze, something was stuffed into my hand.
The girl said in a cheerful voice, "I haven't even looked at this picture book myself yet, but I'm lending it to you first. You should study it carefully, otherwise it will be a laughing stock when you get married someday."
Fu Rongchen's eyelids twitched. What was this girl saying?
Just as he was about to scold her, she slipped away from him like an eel.
A vein throbbed on his forehead, and he raised his hand to press his brow.
He had never seen any young lady like her, so unconventional and devoid of any semblance of a proper lady.
