Rong Qingqing stared at her incredulously, "You said you didn't need my help, but you want me to admit that I wrote the book?" Wouldn't that be incredibly embarrassing? Most importantly, the plot is too explicit. If she directly admits that she wrote the book, what will Xie Jingrun think of her? She resolutely refused, "I can help you with anything, but I dare not take responsibility for this book."
"Qingqing..." Shangguan Yanran immediately tugged at her sleeve and acted coquettishly, "Can you bear to see the book I've poured so much effort into just sitting in a box forever, never to be published?"
"How could you bear to do that?" Rong Qingqing nodded, then, as if remembering something, compromised, "Fine, you just want to make money by selling books, right? How about this, I'll buy the book. You don't need to sell it outside."
"Do I look like someone who's short of money?" Shangguan Yanran rolled her eyes at her.
"Then why are you willing to risk your life to sell books?" Rong Qingqing looked at her in disbelief.
Shangguan Yanran sighed, "You would never understand the ideals of an author."
Rong Qingqing suppressed a laugh, "Then, Writer Shangguan, what is your ideal?"
"Of course, it's about making money and getting others to appreciate what I write. I don't seek lasting fame, but I hope that someone will like what I write right now," Shangguan Yanran said earnestly.
Seeing her persistence, Rong Qingqing said, "But if we announce to the public that I wrote this book, no one will know that it was actually you who wrote it. Is that okay?"
"Of course it doesn't matter. I just want people to enjoy reading my stories. Besides, I didn't originally use my real name to write the book, but I'm worried that Xie Jingrun might see it. With his methods, he could easily find out it was written by me. That's why I wanted you to admit to him that you wrote it. That way, even if he sees the book, he won't cause me any trouble," Shangguan Yanran explained.
Rong Qingqing nodded. That's right, most writers in later generations used pen names; very few used their real names.
“I can admit to Xie Jingrun that I wrote this book, but you have to delete those explicit scenes,” she demanded.
Upon hearing that the plot was to be deleted, Shangguan Yanran immediately hugged the book tightly, saying, "How can that be?"
"That can't be right, can it? Then don't come to me about this anymore." Rong Qingqing shrugged.
"I... I'll think about it," Shangguan Yanran said with a heavy heart.
"Hmm, take your time to think it over." Rong Qingqing patted her shoulder.
Shangguan Yanran returned to the Prime Minister's residence dejectedly.
However, as soon as she stepped into the mansion, she saw a man in blue standing under the eaves.
There was some distance between them, so she thought she was seeing things.
As she got closer, she froze.
The man noticed the footsteps and turned around. When he saw Shangguan Yanran, a smile appeared on his handsome face.
"Yanran, it's been a long time!"
"Thump!"
Shangguan Yanran dropped the book in her hand and stared blankly at the man walking towards her.
Fu Rongchen stopped in front of Shangguan Yanran. Seeing that she was in a daze, he bent down and picked up the book she had dropped.
He didn't mean to look at it, but when the book fell to the ground, it was accidentally opened. So when he bent down to pick it up, he could clearly see the contents of the book.
He paused for a moment, then casually closed the book and handed it to Shangguan Yanran.
Shangguan Yanran then came to her senses, opened her lips as if to say something, but the other person looked at her with a smile and then said softly, "Yanran, you really have grown up."
