Today is New Year's Eve. The emperor and his ministers are celebrating together, and the palace is filled with joy. They have also prepared songs and dances.
After finishing their meal, everyone moved to the city tower to watch the fireworks.
Rong Qingqing stood beside Xiao Zhen, watching the fireworks rise into the sky.
At this moment, Feng Xin walked to her side, tugged at her sleeve, and whispered, "Come with me."
Rong Qingqing looked at her with a puzzled expression, but still spoke to Xiao Zhen.
Seeing that the two girls seemed to have something to say, Xiao Zhen didn't stop them, but still reminded them, "Be careful and come back soon."
“Okay.” Rong Qingqing obediently replied and followed Feng Xin down the city wall.
Reaching a waterside pavilion, Feng Xin's eyes flashed with cunning. Suddenly, she said with a grin, "I won't bother you any longer." With that, she dashed away.
Before Rong Qingqing could react to what she meant by "disturbance," a tall figure emerged from the shadows of the waterside pavilion.
At first, she couldn't see the other person's face clearly. Suddenly, she saw a dark figure emerge from the shadows and was startled, thinking it was an assassin. Just as she was about to run, the other person's deep voice suddenly rang out, "It's me."
Hearing the voice, Rong Qingqing breathed a sigh of relief, then frowned and asked, "What are you doing hiding there so late at night?"
Xie Jingrun walked over slowly. "I've been waiting for you."
"Wait for me?" Rong Qingqing asked, puzzled.
Seeing this, Xie Jingrun's face flashed with displeasure. "Have you forgotten about me now that you have a father?"
Rong Qingqing: "..."
"Why aren't you saying anything? Did I hit the nail on the head?"
Rong Qingqing's face darkened, but she still said, "Of course not."
Upon hearing this, Xie Jingrun's expression softened slightly. Just as he was about to speak, a gust of cold wind suddenly blew by, and Rong Qingqing sneezed.
Seeing this, Xie Jingrun took her hand and led her to a sheltered spot.
"Why don't you wear an extra layer when it's cold?" he scolded, but quickly took off his cloak and wrapped it around her.
"I had no idea you would invite me here," Rong Qingqing complained, but still reached out to pull her cloak tighter around her.
The waterside pavilion offers no shelter from the wind; a gust of wind can freeze a person to death.
Xie Jingrun stood in the windy spot, blocking the cold wind from blowing in.
Rong Qingqing noticed this and felt a little touched. Seeing that he had taken off his cloak and given it to her, and that he was dressed in very thin clothes, she thought for a moment, then pulled open the cloak and said softly, "Come a little closer."
Xie Jingrun thought she was still cold, so he moved closer as instructed.
Rong Qingqing pulled up her cloak and draped it over his shoulders.
Xie Jingrun was taken aback. Looking at the petite girl in front of him, a warm feeling washed over him. "Silly girl, I'm not cold."
Rong Qingqing glanced at him and said, "Then why don't you get out?"
Xie Jingrun smiled and suddenly reached out to pull her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head and gently stroking it. "Qingqing, Happy New Year."
Rong Qingqing paused for a moment, then said, "Happy New Year."
A string of fireworks rose into the distant night sky, illuminating the darkness.
"I'm so happy to be able to spend Chinese New Year with you this year..."
As fireworks exploded in the night sky, Xie Jingrun suddenly spoke.
Rong Qingqing was watching the fireworks explode in the night sky, and because the sound of the fireworks was so loud, she didn't hear what he said at first. So she turned to look at him in confusion and asked, "What did you say?"
Xie Jingrun looked at her quietly for a while, then pulled her close to his chest. "It's nothing."
Rong Qingqing was somewhat suspicious, but her attention was drawn to the dazzling fireworks in the night sky, so she didn't ask any more questions.
