The room was quiet, and Fu Rongchen had been paying close attention to the sounds outside, so when the maids whispered among themselves outside the window, he could clearly hear what they were saying.
"I heard that the young lady is to be matched with a young master from the royal family. I wonder if it will work out?"
"It will definitely work out. I've heard that Young Master Wang is a handsome and talented man, and he and our young lady are a perfect match."

Fu Rongchen frowned. Shangguan Yanran was looking at someone.
He suddenly remembered that she was already sixteen years old this year, which was indeed the age to discuss marriage.
Perhaps it was because he had been waiting for too long, but a sense of impatience arose in his heart. He frowned and asked the servant beside him, "What is your young lady busy with?"
"Miss is writing a storybook in her room," the servant replied crisply, his expression quite proud.
Fu Rongchen paused for a moment. Yanran was writing a storybook?
He glanced at the picture book in his hand.
He wanted to have a servant deliver it directly, but he was worried that the servant would see the contents, especially since it was he who delivered it. In that case, he wouldn't be able to explain himself no matter what.
After thinking for a moment, he turned to his servant and instructed, "Go and see how long it will take for your young lady to arrive?" If Shangguan Yanran couldn't get away for a while, he would have to come back another time.
The servant acknowledged and left.
A short while later, footsteps approached. Fu Rongchen looked up and saw Shangguan Yanran hurrying in from outside.
"Fu Rongchen, why are you looking for me in such a hurry? Is something the matter?"
After Shangguan Yanran finished speaking, she plopped down in the chair, sitting in a crooked and unrestrained posture.
Writing stories is hard work; it's mentally taxing, and it also makes her neck and wrists sore and tired.
A servant brought her a cup of water, which she took and gulped down in large mouthfuls.
Fu Rongchen looked at the girl sitting casually across from him and noticed that she was different from before. In the past, she was quite reserved in front of him, and her words and actions were refined. But ever since she started calling him by his full name, she had changed a lot.
In his presence, she no longer cared about her image, and he spoke to her without any politeness.
She was completely unaware that her face was smeared with ink.
How could she possibly resemble a lady from a respectable family?
He paused, then took the picture book out of his sleeve. "Here, take this back."
Shangguan Yanran glanced at it and her eyes lit up when she saw it was her precious picture book.
After all, she hadn't seen this picture book yet.
She got up and took it from his hands.
When Fu Rongchen saw her about to look through the picture book in front of him, his eyelids twitched, and he quickly stopped her, saying, "Don't look at it here, take it back to your room to look at it."
Shangguan Yanran paused, glanced at him sideways, and suddenly asked, "Does it look good?"
Fu Rongchen was taken aback, his gaze falling on her beautiful face, his eyes slightly closed, "What?"
Shangguan Yanran waved the sketchbook in her hand. "Aren't the paintings inside beautiful?"
Fu Rongchen then realized that she was asking about the picture book. For some reason, his face felt hot, and he mumbled, "I haven't looked at it, I don't know."
"Why didn't you look at it?" Shangguan Yanran asked, puzzled. "Are you even a man?" In her mind, no matter how refined a man was, he was a rogue at heart. She doubted there was any man who hadn't read this kind of material. Yet she had given the album to Fu Rongchen, and he was saying he hadn't looked at it?
She looked Fu Rongchen up and down with great suspicion. "No wonder you've looked at so many girls and haven't gotten together with any of them."
She muttered to herself, but Fu Rongchen overheard her.
