Chapter Nineteen: Anything she sets her sights on, she will take away.

"Sister, that's not how it is, you've misunderstood me..." Rong Yiyi said anxiously, "Father and Mother didn't do those things. I know you're upset, but you can't just falsely accuse them..."

"That's enough, that's enough." Rong Qingqing interrupted her wearily. "It's all over now. Whether they did it or not is no longer important. It doesn't matter if you don't admit it. Anyway, this is how my life is." As she spoke, she turned her head away and squeezed out a tear. Her restrained expression conveyed the helplessness and heartache of someone who had suffered so much injustice.

Rong Yiyi narrowed her eyes slightly. Only now did she realize that the Rong Qingqing in front of her was very different from the Rong Qingqing she knew.

When Xie Jingyi told her, she was still somewhat incredulous.

But now that she has seen it with her own eyes, she knows that Xie Jingyi was not exaggerating.

Upon meeting her, Rong Qingqing hugged her and cried. She had initially felt quite pleased to see her end up like this.

So what if that old woman favors me? I'll still end up as dust in no time.

She heard Xie Jingyi say that on the day Rong Qingqing married into the family, she was almost sent to be buried alive with them.

Now that old woman is too sick to get out of bed, there is no one to support her. Even if she escapes being buried alive with the dead, she still has that wolf cub Xie Jingrun around, so life will still be hard for her.

Who knows when he might die at Xie Jingrun's hands? Xie Jingrun is a ruthless and cruel killer who doesn't blink an eye.

She specially invited Feng Mo to come over today in order to rub salt into her wounds and enjoy seeing her in pain and disheveled state.

To her surprise, Rong Qingqing hadn't given Feng Mo a second glance since she entered the room.

Is she just pretending, or has she really let go?

But what made her feel flustered was Rong Qingqing's behavior.

Although she was crying, every word she uttered revealed the hidden truth.

Instead of making a scene or ignoring her as usual, she complained about what her parents had done to her in front of Feng Mo and Xie Jingyi, catching her completely off guard.

She tried to explain, but then she said that things were already like this, and it didn't matter anymore.

By saying that, wasn't she indirectly telling others that her current predicament was all her parents' and her own fault? But she didn't intend to pursue the matter any further.

Rong Yiyi clenched her handkerchief tightly, realizing for the first time that she had underestimated her elder sister.

She sneered silently to herself, regretting her underestimation of her opponent.

“I understand how you feel, sister. It’s only natural that you want to vent your anger on us. It’s just that the world is so unfair to you. If it weren’t for the Chunyanlou incident, none of these things would have happened, causing you to suffer so much.”

As she spoke, her eyes filled with tears, seemingly grieving for Rong Qingqing's plight. However, she was actually implying that Rong Qingqing's own behavior was immoral; she had gone to Chunyan Brothel and ruined her reputation, and that Rong Qingqing's current predicament was entirely her own doing. But it was only natural for her to vent her anger, given how miserable she had become. This was also a veiled way of saying that Rong Qingqing's earlier words were slander.

Rong Qingqing sighed, "Yiyi, you're just too kind, that's why you speak well of Father and Aunt Chen. It's true, Father has always doted on you more since you were little. Whatever you want, he'll do anything to get it for you. It's only natural that you want to defend them, and I understand you. But if you've taken a liking to the Third Prince, you could have told me earlier. If you had told me clearly, I would have backed down and let you have your way. Then Father and Aunt Chen wouldn't have had to resort to those underhanded methods."
