The black-clad team bypassed the first checkpoint and walked for another fifteen minutes before entering the maze.
They didn't know where they had stepped, but the once silent forest gradually began to rise in wisps of grayish-white mist, which quickly filled the air and obscured their vision. Just as they were wondering what was happening, one or two roars of wild beasts rang out.
Caught off guard by this sudden situation, everyone panicked and drew their weapons to defend themselves. As the roars grew closer, they huddled together in a circle, back to back, peering around.
Their eyes were wary and fearful. After a moment, finding nothing amiss, they dared to continue forward. But before they had taken two steps, a shrill scream pierced their eardrums, startling the men into gathering together again with their weapons.
It's unclear what they saw, but their eyes were filled with terror, and their hands gripping their weapons trembled violently.
The array was set up by Mo Lan, and the illusion was created by the tomb spirit. Mo Lan knew everything that the people inside heard and saw; even the sounds inside could not be hidden from her ears.
Seeing everyone's frightened expressions, Mo Lan curled her lips, casually picked up an apple, and took a bite. It was crisp, juicy, sweet, and fragrant.
Her territory is not so easy to invade.
Mo Lan watched with great interest, while Han Shuang, standing to the side, was somewhat confused. She could only see the people's terrified and cautious expressions, but she had no idea what had happened to them.
"Boss, did they trigger a mechanism?"
She knew that a wrong step would change the view of the forest. Even so, they shouldn't be that scared, right? Judging from their expressions, they looked like they'd seen a ghost.
"Hmm, maybe they saw something incredible." Mo Lan munched on an apple, looking at the group of people trembling with fear in the midst of the commotion.
Their strength is lacking. It's supposed to be a joint effort from several powerful families, but they're too weak and don't put in any effort at all.
It's pathetic that you get so easily frightened by the smallest accident.
As the fog thickened, Frost could only make out a few blurry figures; the rest were completely obscured. However, this obstruction did not affect Mo Lan's vision. A few white spirits, appearing and disappearing amidst the fog, bared their fangs and brandished their claws, gleefully playing games with the spirits.
Those people were terrified, and after a moment they began to scatter and flee. Some of the more timid ones even broke down in tears.
"It collapsed so quickly, it's meaningless."
The first group of people were too weak. Whether they were intentionally testing the waters or this was just their level, Mo Lan found it boring.
"Pack up and go back to sleep."
"Yes, boss."
It took less than an hour, which was indeed not enough to see. Han Shuang shook her head. Those people were like they were possessed. They didn't rush up the mountain or run down the mountain. Instead, they ran away with their heads in their hands. It was really shameful.
After the master and servant left, Qin Su and Wu Feng, who had been hiding in the shadows, came out and exchanged a glance.
What do you think?
Qin Su frowned as he looked at the situation in the woods. This situation was exactly the same as when they first went up the mountain.
"Your subordinate is incompetent and cannot see anything." Wu Feng only felt that the scene was strange, and apart from those who were in disarray, he could not see anything else.
“Do you remember the first time we went up the mountain? We encountered the same situation as them. I’m wondering if someone has tampered with this forest?” Qin Su squinted at the misty forest, his brows furrowed.
