"Haha... Alright, I'll accept your offer. I'll be waiting for you."
Jiang Mian couldn't help but smile when he saw Mo Lan's disgusted expression when she heard about playing chess. She was indeed a straightforward woman with a fiery temper; it was hard for her not to attract attention.
"Reporting to Your Highness, Young Master Qin has come to pay a visit."
Just as the two were speaking, the butler came in from outside with a visiting card to report.
Jiang Mian accepted the invitation card, looked at the blue card with gold trim, couldn't help but glance at Mo Lan, and smiled gently, "I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence that you two have come together. Please come in."
With that, Jiang Mian stood up. "Mo Lan, please sit for a moment. I will go and greet Prince Qin."
"Please go ahead." Mo Lan nodded, puzzled. She wanted to say goodbye but couldn't see him, but she didn't expect him to go down the mountain.
Mo Lan held her teacup. Qin Su was a good person in every way, except that he was too self-centered. Perhaps it was a common problem among scions of aristocratic families. He felt that everyone had to listen to him.
While he was thinking, Jiang Mian had already led Qin Su into the hall.
The moment Qin Su saw Mo Lan, his eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly.
Similarly, when Mo Lan saw Qin Su, she put down her teacup, stood up, and said, "What a coincidence."
"It is indeed a coincidence that we can meet among thousands of people and work together. It is a kind of fate."
Qin Su stared at Mo Lan, his slender fingers curling slightly. Following her words, he added, "After speaking, he felt something was amiss. The Buddha said that it takes a hundred years of cultivation to earn a single glance in this life. As for you and me, it would probably take at least three thousand years."
As soon as the teasing tone came out, Qin Su was stunned for a moment, and felt a little regretful.
Mo Lan: "..."
Has this guy lost his mind?
Jiang Mian watched as the two began their back-and-forth banter as soon as they met, especially Qin Su, whose tone, though cool, carried a hint of bitter resentment, as if accusing Mo Lan of being a heartless man…
When this thought crossed his mind, Jiang Mian almost burst out laughing. What was he thinking?
Qin Su, a scion of a prominent family, holds a pivotal position in Liangjing. How could he possibly be pitiful?
Putting aside the jumbled thoughts in his mind, Jiang Mian glanced at Qin Su with a slightly apologetic look, feeling as if he had offended him.
"Brother Qin is humorous and witty, I admire him. Please take a seat."
"Thank you for your kind offer, Brother Jiang. Although it is customary for a guest to follow the host's lead, Brother Jiang is the host, and I do not wish to overstep my bounds." Qin Su said, sitting down directly opposite Mo Lan.
"Haha... Brother Qin, it is an honor to have you grace my humble abode with your presence. I can only express my gratitude by sweeping my bed and welcoming you. Very well, since the three of us get along so well, we should have a good drink to celebrate the enduring friendship between us."
As Jiang Mian spoke, he directly instructed the steward to prepare a banquet to entertain the distinguished guests.
A moment later, Mo Lan sat at the table, looking at the exquisite dishes laid out on it, still feeling bewildered.
She's definitely a seasoned veteran of officialdom; she lured people to the dinner table with just a few words, promising a lasting friendship. It's one thing for her and Jiang Mian—they became friends after a fight. But Qin Su, that guy is so unpredictable and gloomy, where does this talk of friendship come from?
As the host, Jiang Mian was gentle and polite, personally filling their sake cups before sitting back down.
"This is osmanthus wine that I've been storing for ten years. I've never been willing to take it out before. Today I'm so happy, let's drink three cups to our hearts' content."
Qin Su picked up the wine glass and smelled it. "The wine is clear and bright, with a pleasant and mellow aroma. It is indeed quite old."
