If Song Jian has a talent for employing people and is flexible and adaptable, as long as he is not a bad person, with a little guidance, he could be a suitable successor.
As for the eldest brother, just give him a life free from worries about food and clothing.
Thinking of this, Mo Lan looked at Hua Fengyu beside her and said, "Find someone to send Father back, and you should get some rest too."
"Okay, leave it to me." Hua Fengyu nodded, watching his sister's departing figure. For some reason, he felt that he had disappointed his sister.
When Mo Lan returned to her courtyard, Hua Bao had already prepared hot water. The little girl was dressed in a pink dress with a white fox fur collar around her neck, and she looked very charming.
"Hua Bao is getting prettier and prettier."
"Miss is the most beautiful."
Hua Bao carried the clothes and placed them on the warm kang (heated brick bed) next to her. "These are the clothes that Miss will wear tomorrow. Hua Bao specially matched them with red embroidery. They're absolutely festive."
Mo Lan glanced at the clothes on the kang (heated brick bed). They were black brocade, a modified version of a fitted outfit, still with cuffed sleeves, black and red tassels hanging from the shoulders, red plum blossoms embroidered on the front, and a red cloak over which the hem was embroidered with black peonies.
Black and red, understated luxury, looks good, but she's not planning to turn evil. Black with purple is fine, but why pair it with bright red?
It looks weird.
"Miss, how is it? Doesn't it look good? Granny Jiang said that only people of high status wear this kind of outfit. I embroidered it especially for you." Hua Bao held up the dress, which sparkled as she looked at herself.
"It's beautiful. Hua Bao's cooking skills are getting better and better." Mo Lan shook her head, took a hot bath with Hua Bao's help, and went straight to bed to rest.
Mo Lan was awakened by a firecracker shortly after falling asleep. She opened her eyes, looked at the hourglass beside her, and realized it was the last quarter of the morning, the time to eat dumplings at dawn.
She hadn't slept for long before she had to get up. Mo Lan turned over, dozed off for a while longer, and then sat up.
Children at this age wake up early, and soon other children will come over asking for candy; she can't sleep in.
After drinking some warming sweet soup, Mo Lan went to the front yard to wish her father a Happy New Year and received a big red envelope. The three of them, along with Ting Yu, ate dumplings together and then went to the main hall to wish the village chiefs a Happy New Year.
When Mo Lan returned to her courtyard with a stack of red envelopes, she was exhausted.
Sitting in my room, I enjoy giving the children candy from time to time, and I can even tease the cutest ones.
"Little sister, I knew you were hiding in the house for peace and quiet. It snowed again last night, and everyone is discussing organizing a hunting competition. Do you want to participate?"
As they were talking, Hua Fengyu walked in wearing a silver cloak and said with a smile.
“No, I’m more comfortable lying down. You guys go have fun.” Mo Lan looked at him, thinking about yesterday’s decision. Even if she didn’t let her eldest brother inherit everything from the stronghold, she would still make him a well-off and wealthy man.
"Brother, the New Year is celebrated differently in the border regions than in the interior. Didn't Karen come to see you?"
“We’ve been corresponding, but we haven’t met recently.” When Karen is mentioned, Hua Fengyu’s eyes always wander, especially when it comes to his sister, he seems to lack courage.
“I thought he would come to spend the New Year with you.” Mo Lan glanced at him, thought for a moment, and couldn’t help but suggest, “The grasslands are vast and boundless, it wouldn’t be bad to visit her. How about we go to the grasslands for horse racing early the day after tomorrow?”
