Chapter Four: A Family of Three

"I appreciate Chief Hu's kind offer, but my daughter is still young. I would like to stay for a couple more years. I hope Brother Hu Biao will understand!"

As Hua Yifei spoke, he politely clasped his hands in a fist and palm salute.

"My daughter is still unconscious. I have no heart to entertain guests. Please excuse my rudeness. Fourth brother, see the guests out!"

Seeing that Hu Biao's expression was not good, the fourth chieftain Pang Yi quickly stepped forward and smiled gently.

"Chief Hu is a magnanimous man. Ever since you came to propose marriage last time, my eldest niece has been in a coma and has been treated by several doctors. My brother is worried about his daughter and is inevitably anxious and irritable. Please forgive him."

Pang Yi's meaning was clear: the people had already been frightened into fainting, and if they continued to pester him, it would be a provocation.

At that point, it'll be more like turning into an enemy than a marriage alliance.

Hu Biao glanced at Pang Yi and snorted coldly. He understood what Pang Yi meant: that cowardly woman, Hua Molan, had been frightened into fainting by him, and he couldn't deny that.

Thinking of this, he glanced at Mu Renchangliang beside him.

After receiving a look from the chieftain, Changliang smiled gently at everyone.

"Alas, Chief Hua is right. Miss Mo Lan is still unconscious, and we should not disturb her. Fortunately, we have a doctor with outstanding medical skills at White Tiger Cliff. We will send him over later to check Miss Mo Lan's pulse. Only when she is well can our Chief be at ease."

Upon hearing Chang Liang's suggestion, Hu Biao's mind immediately stirred. For the sake of the future, taking a roundabout approach might not be a bad idea.

“Mr. Changliang is right. Since this matter arose because of me, the chieftain, I cannot stand idly by. Please wait a moment, Chieftain Hua. I will return to White Tiger Cliff and personally bring the doctor over.”

As long as she's alive, she has to be the chieftain's wife at White Tiger Cliff!

Having made up his mind, Hu Biao didn't give Hua Yifei a chance to refuse and left with his men.

Hua Yifei stared at Hu Biao's retreating figure, the smile on his face slowly fading.

“Father,” Mo Lan came out from around the corner.

"Daughter, you're awake?"

Hua Yifei turned around and saw her daughter looking refreshed. Joy flashed in her eyes, but when she thought of Hu Biao's determined look towards her daughter, she began to worry again.

Even if he didn't want to admit it, he knew that Qinglong Village was no match for Baihu Cliff!

Mo Lan felt a warmth in her heart when she saw the fleeting worry in her father's eyes.

"Why are the people from White Tiger Cliff here again?"

In my memory, Hua Yifei treated both his son and daughter well. It's rare that he can still think about his daughter now that the enemy is strong and we are weak.

Hearing her daughter's question, Hua Yifei was afraid of scaring her, so he changed the subject, "You just woke up, how did you run out? Don't attract any more attention, Dad will take you back."

Seeing that her father wasn't going to say anything more, Mo Lan didn't press the matter. "I'm feeling much better now. I'm sorry to have worried you these past few days."

Judging from Hu Biao's attitude, this matter is not over. Whether her father says it or not, she will find out sooner or later.

"It's good that my daughter is alright."

Looking at the graceful young woman before him, Hua Yifei felt a mix of emotions.

The daughter looks more and more like her mother as she grows up. With such a beautiful face, she must attract the attention of countless wolves. Thinking of Hu Biao, Hua Yifei's face darkened immediately.

The father and daughter remained silent throughout the journey. Mo Lan was new to the place and was not yet used to the sudden arrival of her relatives.

As for Hua Yifei, he was lost in his own thoughts, racking his brains to figure out how to thwart Baihu Cliff's marriage proposal.

Even after sitting down at the tea table in the side hall, Hua Yifei remained lost in thought, and Mo Lan didn't disturb him. She quietly arranged a tea set on the table, made of pure white porcelain, which was quite elegant.
