Chapter 36 The Incomplete Full Moon
Pei Xiangwan sat lazily on the chair, his tired body seemed to be swallowed by the sofa, but his eyes were attracted by the lively little white cat.
The kitten hopped happily around the sunlit living room, bouncing around like a tiny marble, excitedly exploring every corner. Its fur was as white as snow, reflecting the warm light. Pei Xiangwan couldn't help but smile. "Let's call you White Ball. That's perfect."
While busy wiping her hands, Aunt Zhang poked her head out of the kitchen door and said with a smile, "Miss, you like cats again now." There was tenderness and concern in her eyes.
"I like it very much." Pei Xiangwan's voice was a little lazy, but the smile on her face was very real.
The kitten's vitality made her feel a long-lost sense of relief, as if it could dispel the haze in her heart.
Aunt Zhang wiped the water off her hands and said with a look of relief, "Miss, Madam said the teacher we hired for you will be here soon."
"Okay! Thank you, Aunt Zhang!" Pei Xiangwan looked up in surprise. She hadn't expected her mother to be so efficient. She had just casually mentioned this to Lin Muyao and hadn't expected her to actually ask for a teacher.
Aunt Zhang smiled innocently, the water stains on her clothes gleaming in the sunlight. "Thank you, Madam. Madam is truly amazing. Miss, you may not like to hear this, but Madam loves you."
Pei Xiangwan nodded slightly. "I know, Aunt Zhang."
Seeing that the young lady stopped talking, Aunt Zhang went about her own business.
The living room fell silent. Pei Xiangwan was captivated by the "Extreme Spirit Design Competition" on the computer screen.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Aunt Zhang ran to open the door and said excitedly, "You must be the teacher! It's amazing that you're a teacher at such a young age!"
The door opened with a woman, probably around 25 years old, exuding a fresh and capable aura. Her black hair flowed down her shoulders, and her features were delicate. Dressed in a simple white shirt and dark trousers, she looked like a lively woman straight out of a painting.
"Hello, Auntie, I'm Teacher Lin's call." Bai Jie's voice was clear and pleasant, with a kind of affinity that made people want to get closer.
"Just call me Aunt Zhang. The young lady is waiting for you inside. Please follow me."
After saying this, Aunt Zhang couldn't wait to look at the young teacher one more time. The envy on her face was beyond words. It was great that she could achieve such a brilliant result at such a young age, unlike her who had lived like this all her life.
Pei Xiangwan turned around and saw the new teacher, and a surge of curiosity surged in her heart.
Bai Jie's smile was warm and sincere. She extended her hand. "Hello, Pei Xiangwan. I'm the teacher that Teacher Lin has hired to teach you. My name is Bai Jie."
"Hello, Teacher Bai." Pei Xiangwan held her hand.
Bai Jie put down her bag, and when she opened it, a faint scent of books emanated. She took out a book and a few sheets of white paper and spoke softly.
"Because I don't know much about your level or your style, Teacher Lin showed me your drawings. You are very talented, and I want to learn more about you."
"This way you can find your shortcomings." Bai Jie's voice was gentle but firm. "You can rely on books for gems and jade, but ideas, new ideas, need to rely on..."
She gently poked Pei Xiangwan's forehead with a pen, and a smile appeared on the corner of her mouth. "Lean here."
Pei Xiangwan nodded obediently.
In the following time, every word Bai Jie said drew her in. As the discussion deepened, Bai Jie's originally tense brows gradually relaxed, and the corners of her lips unconsciously raised.
Her expression became more relaxed, as if she was impressed by Pei Xiangwan's talent.
Bai Jie pondered this, even feeling that Pei Xiangwan's talent surpassed Lin Muyao's back then. She couldn't help but wonder why so many people described Pei Xiangwan as "a broken full moon." Such judgments and misunderstandings were so unfair.
"You have some very creative ideas. How did you come up with them?" Bai Jie asked gently, her voice as soothing as a spring breeze.
Pei Xiangwan answered seriously, "Actually, I just had a rough idea in my mind, and then it came out." There was determination in her eyes, as if she was defending her creativity.
Bai Jie smiled slightly, her expression full of admiration. "Is that so? Then tell me about the shortcomings. It's missing something here, it's too empty, and it's very obvious."
Time flew by as they chatted. Sunlight streamed in through the curtains, casting golden specks of light across the floor like a merrily dancing elf. Outside the window, leaves swayed gently in the breeze, and the occasional bird song filled the air.
“Time flies.”
When you are serious, time flies by quickly, just like sleeping comfortably for a day and opening your eyes to find that it is over. No matter what you do, you cannot keep time.
"See you next time. I'll be leaving first." Bai Jie packed up the books.
Pei Xiangwan hurried forward and said, "Let me take you there, Teacher Bai."
Bai Jie shook her head and said gently, "No, I drove here. You must be tired after talking for so long. Goodbye, Pei."
"Goodbye! Teacher Bai." Pei Xiangwan watched her leave.
The conference room was full of people and the atmosphere was tense. Only the empty seat in the middle attracted attention.
"What's going on? There haven't been any problems recently."
Chen Cheng shook her head helplessly. She herself didn't know. "I don't know. Let's just wait."
There were hurried footsteps outside the door, and the conference room suddenly fell silent. Everyone held their breath and even breathed carefully.
The door opened and Jiang Shiyuan walked in. Her eyes were as cold as a piercing chill as she scanned the entire room, making people shudder.
"Is everyone here?" she asked coldly, her voice full of authority. "Begin the report."
Under her gaze, everyone lowered their heads, afraid to meet her gaze. Jiang Shiyuan remained cold throughout, her tone devoid of warmth, making those present nervous and sweaty.
Her presence is like an iceberg, emitting an invisible sense of oppression.
"Do you think everything is okay?" Her voice was as cold as the winter wind.
"Yes..." Everyone said in unison, with a hint of hesitation in their tone.
"I mentioned before that we wanted to launch new products, but none of your proposals were original. The only acceptable one was Ling Wan's dessert proposal."
A sneer appeared on her lips. "The current performance is better than before, but that doesn't mean we can stop. We want better, not just good enough."
As she spoke, the atmosphere in the conference room became increasingly oppressive, as if the air had frozen.
Everyone felt their hearts racing, fearing they would be singled out for criticism any second. Jiang Shiyuan was like a judge.
The meeting proceeded extremely quickly under Jiang Shiyuan's pressure, and ended only with her last sentence: "Further plans should be submitted next week."
Everyone felt relieved and breathed a sigh of relief.
"The boss's cold face is so scary!"
"No, I've been with the boss for several years, and he's always like this."
"That's really novel. I'm racking my brains. How about a rose-baked milk?"
Chen Cheng followed Jiang Shiyuan closely, feeling anxious. "Boss, what's wrong? What do you need me to do?"
"You should ask them to be more careful about the stray cat matter." Jiang Shiyuan's tone was still cold, without any emotional fluctuation, as if the person sitting in front of Chen Cheng was a robot.
"Okay, I'll arrange it right away." Chen Cheng responded quickly, secretly vowing to himself to handle it as soon as possible.
"And how's the investigation going on with Lin Su?" Jiang Shiyuan continued to ask, his eyes as sharp as knives.
