Chapter 24: Difficulties

The opening ceremony started at 8:08. The whole process was just like any other.

However, due to Shao Qian's joining, there were a lot of reporters here today. Everyone was trying to get first-hand intelligence, and they were all armed with guns and cannons, making it almost impossible for Zhou Xiao to open his eyes.

Especially during the question-and-answer session, everyone was like crazy, rushing to Shao Qian's side.

However, everyone knew Shao Qian's taboo, so even though there were many people around, no one got too close.

"Excuse me, Director Chen, there's news that 'Wushuang' is the biggest challenge in your directorial career. Is this true?"

"Director Chen is said to have invested 800 million yuan in this film, arguably the largest investment in Chinese film history. Do you feel any immense pressure?"

"Actor Shao, is this collaboration with Director Chen and starring in this martial arts film another attempt for you?"

"It's said that this film will have a lot of martial arts scenes. I wonder if Mr. Shaw will use a stunt double or do it himself?"

"Lin Xuan is said to..."

Questions came one after another, most of them were directed at Director Chen and Shao Qian, some also focused on the female lead Lin Xuan. Even other actors were mentioned, except Zhou Xiao.

Chen Xue frowned as she watched this scene from the audience. But there was nothing she could do. Zhou Xiao was truly a relatively unknown figure in the entertainment industry. To put it bluntly, anyone in this film was a bigger star than her.

That's how things turned out, but Zhou Xiao was in good spirits, happily watching the others being interviewed. The interview concluded, and the reporter left.

Then the training and script reading began. The script reading was not bad for Zhou Xiao because, as the third female lead, she didn't have many lines.

However, as the male protagonist's master and the powerful figure in the early stage, she has a lot of fighting scenes.

The first thing that started was the script reading.

Shao Qian sat at the director's table, and Shao Qian read the lines first.

There was a certain kind of person who found it a real pleasure to listen to him speak, especially when he addressed her as "Master." Even a straight woman like Zhou Xiao panicked for a moment.

"You, are you sure you want to take me as your master?" Zhou Xiao was stuck. Seeing the way everyone was looking at her, Zhou Xiao blushed instantly.

After adjusting himself, he asked, "Do you know that becoming my disciple is a huge price to pay? Are you sure?" Zhou Xiao calmed himself down, got into the role, and imagined himself as the good and evil lady in red, and asked playfully.

Shao Qian's voice suddenly changed, becoming firm and resolute: "I'm sure, as long as you can help me avenge the extermination of my family, I'm willing to pay any price!"

Zhou Xiao chuckled, as if he had found something fun. His tone became cheerful and mysterious: "Okay, then from now on you will be my Ye Wuqing's disciple! Don't die so easily!"

Zhou Xiao didn't have many lines, most of which were with the male lead. Soon she had memorized all her lines and the room was filled with silence.

Zhou Xiao was nervous, not knowing how he would perform, and secretly glanced at Director Chen.

But Director Chen didn't say anything. He just frowned and wrote and drew on the paper. He waited for a few seconds before speaking.

"Ye Wuqing's emotions are okay, but he's lacking in technique. Practice more! Keep going!" Although the director pointed out the shortcomings, one could tell from his expression that he was very satisfied with Zhou Xiao.

Director Chen was indeed somewhat satisfied with Zhou Xiao because he was such a surprise! You know, when Shao Qian approached him and said he wanted to arrange someone to play Ye Wuqing, he was extremely reluctant.

Although Ye Wuqing was described as a vase, he was a capable vase. He was highly skilled in martial arts and had a treacherous personality. In the early stages, he was almost the driving force of the plot. Director Chen was afraid that such an important early role would be played by a real vase, so he would mess it up.

But who can blame her for having such a strong background and so much money? He could only accept it with a pinch of his nose. Fortunately, it was only Ye Wuqing. If Zhou Xiao's acting was too bad, the worst that could happen was that she would be recast.

Anyway, he is just a minor villain in the early stage, and his collapse does not have much impact later on!

But it turned out that Zhou Xiao wasn't as bad as he thought? At least his lines were good? That was a good thing!

Director Chen, who appears serious but is actually quite reserved, was overjoyed!

Zhou Xiao was ecstatic. He had never expected to receive such recognition from such a famous director. This proved that his efforts had not been in vain.

Cheng Qingqing felt uncomfortable listening to this. She had never expected Zhou Xiao to have made such great progress.

Is this still the Zhou Xiao who had no acting skills at all and relied entirely on his looks? What a huge change!

The line reading continued. Everyone present was a talented actor in the industry, and the line reading went very well. Except for Zhou Xiao, who was criticized, everyone else passed.

This made Zhou Xiao realize the gap between himself and everyone else.

In the following fight scene, Zhou Xiao encountered even greater setbacks.

Because Ye Wuqing has too many fighting scenes!

Even though Zhou Xiao thought he had some basic skills, he was still criticized. The main reason was that people who had actually practiced martial arts would find it difficult to accept this soft and aesthetically pleasing martial arts movement.

The action director of "Wushuang" is a big shot in the industry invited by Director Chen. His professional ability is good, but his character is not very good.

Maybe they were bullying Zhou Xiao because of her low status. She had the most fighting scenes in the early stages, but was arranged to the end.

When the director was there, he would scold a few people he taught. Once the director left, he would just ignore them and scold anyone he didn't like.

Zhou Xiao saw that the fourth female lead and even some supporting roles with few roles had learned it, while he himself was still sitting on the bench.

Zhou Xiao gritted his teeth. Even if he was a fool, he knew that he was being targeted.

Looking around or seeing looks of ridicule, Zhou Xiao was no longer prepared to tolerate it.

Run straight to the martial arts director.

"Master Wang, isn't it time to start Ye Wuqing's martial arts instruction? Ye Wuqing has the most fighting scenes. If you don't start teaching now, I'm afraid it will be a waste of time!"

The other party said impatiently: "Am I the martial arts instructor or are you? Wait, it will be your turn later!"

Zhou Xiao couldn't stand it any longer, "Master Wang means it's my turn in the evening, right?
