Chapter 37: Testifying

When Zhou Xiao found out who the real murderer was, he was still discussing with Xiao Baozi what he was going to do.

Because it was already Friday, the little bun was bargaining with her.

The little boy insisted on taking the evening flight to the hospital after class because his reason was that get out of class ended at 3:30 and he had plenty of time to catch the 5:30 flight to the hospital.

Zhou Xiao firmly refused. If the little one died early, he would have to endure another night of suffering. Although Zhou Xiao was staying in a VIP ward, the conditions were no match for the comforts of home. There was only one bed in the hospital, and it was too crowded for two people.

The little bun argued. "Then I can go to the hotel with Aunt Xue and sleep there, and go to the hospital during the day!"

Zhou Xiao refused outright, "No!"

"Why?" the little boy asked unwillingly.

"Because I'm your mother, if I say no, it means no!" Zhou Xiao replied righteously.

The little bun was speechless. Zhou Xiao looked at Zhou Qihan, the future villain boss, who was looking at him with a speechless expression that said, "How could you cheat?" He suddenly felt relaxed, like eating an ice cream on a hot summer day.

Hehe, little rascal, you must be dumbfounded. Hey, who told me to be your mother?

Zhou Xiao looked at the little boy Zhou Qihan with pride.

But this happiness did not last long.

When Zhou Xiao saw Chen Xue coming to the ward with a female police officer in police uniform and holding a sealed bag, the smug smile on his face immediately disappeared.

Seeing Chen Xue's eyes, Zhou Xiao knew what was going on. She immediately glanced at her phone, and seeing the little one looking at her curiously, she said, "Baby, Mommy has something else to do. I won't chat with you for now. I'll video chat with you when I'm done."

Zhou Qihan was smart enough to guess when the police officer arrived that the mastermind behind the attack on his mother might have been found, so he didn't really want to hang up the video.

He also wanted to know who had attacked his mother. A hint of anger flashed across the little boy's eyes, but it was too quick for Zhou Xiao to notice.

"Mom~" The little bun just opened his mouth when he was interrupted by Zhou Xiao.

"No, children shouldn't interfere when adults are talking. Okay, let's talk later. Bye, baby!" After saying that, he quickly hung up without giving the little one a chance to respond.

"......" Before the little bun could react, the other side had already gone dark. Zhou Qihan could only put down his phone with a look of frustration.

After hanging up the video of Xiao Baozi, Zhou Xiao took back his phone and asked Chen Xue.

"Sister Xue, who is this?" Ever since Zhou Xiao treated Chen Xue as her own relative last time, Zhou Xiao no longer followed the original owner in calling her Sister Chen. Everyone noticed this, and Chen Xue was very happy, so naturally she would not ask her to change her words.

The little bun was also perceptive and followed Zhou Xiao in changing his address to call her Aunt Xue.

Chen Xue introduced, "This is Officer Sun from the police station. I'm here to get some information from you about the wire act and to tell you the situation."

"Oh, hello, Officer Sun, thank you for your help!" Zhou Xiao said politely.

"You're welcome, it's my duty!" replied Officer Sun.

"You're here, do you mean that the real murderer has been caught? Who is it?" Zhou Xiao asked.

Because of the special nature of artists, it is naturally impossible to call the police in a big way as soon as everything is found out. Firstly, they are afraid of alerting the suspects, and secondly, it is the result of discussions between Chen Xue and the crew.

Zhou Xiao also knew that they would call the police only after finding the real murderer, so when he saw Officer Sun, he knew that Chen Xue and the others must have found the real murderer.

Zhou Xiao couldn't help but be surprised. It had only been so long, less than three days at most. This was too fast! Zhou Xiao had no idea that Shao Qian was involved in this, and he was still marveling at Chen Xue's speed.

"Yes, according to the evidence collected so far, the mastermind is Wang Jiancheng and the accomplice is Li An. Wang Jiancheng was responsible for bribing Li An, and Li An was responsible for the implementation and cutting the wire rope." Officer Sun replied.

"Lee An?" Zhou Xiao was puzzled. Who was this? How come I had never heard of him before?

Chen Xue understood Zhou Xiao's confusion and explained, "It's Xiao Li from the props team."

"Oh, it's him!" Zhou Xiao suddenly realized, and then his expression became complicated.

Xiao Li had a good impression of her. Because Ye Wuqing had a lot of fighting scenes and wirework, Xiao Li coordinated the arrangement and adjustments of her wirework.

He had the impression of being an honest and somewhat shy person. Although they didn't talk much, Zhou Xiao was convinced from their few conversations that he would never do anything like hurting others.

So when Zhou Xiao was questioning the suspects, she didn't even consider him. As a result, the person she thought was least likely to harm her turned out to be the real murderer?

Zhou Xiao couldn't accept it. Because if his perception was correct, he wasn't...

Zhou Xiao confirmed with Chen Xue and Officer Sun again.

"Did Xiao Li really do it?" Wang Jiancheng didn't surprise her at all, but now that he told her that what she thought was not what she thought, she really couldn't accept it for a while.

"That's what we see based on the evidence we have so far." Seeing that she didn't believe him, Officer Sun opened the sealed bag he was carrying and showed her the evidence inside.

Zhou Xiao took it and scanned it carefully one by one. Only then did he completely believe that it was Xiao Li who cut his wire.

For a moment, Zhou Xiao didn't know whether to be angry and sad, or to feel sorry for Xiao Li.

From the evidence provided by Officer Sun, Zhou Xiao knew why Xiao Li attacked her: for his daughter.

She knew that Xiao Li's daughter was sick. She had once accidentally seen him crying in a corner.

After repeated questioning, Xiao Li said that as an orphan, she understood best what it felt like to be broke and sick.

But the irony is that on the day he cut his own rope, he wanted An Yue to help him transfer 200,000 yuan to his daughter's medical treatment.
