"Go back as soon as you find it."
Gu Ying's words made Lian Chuchu's face turn slightly pale for a moment. She bit her lip and tried to stand up by supporting herself on the floor with one hand. The housekeeper felt a little sorry for her when he saw her like this.
So he stepped forward and knocked on the door. "Master, we've searched everywhere for the bracelet, but we can't find it. Miss Lian's ankle sprain is quite serious. Should we call a doctor to come and take a look?"
Gu Ying remained silent for a while, then, remembering that Lian Chuchu was Lin Feifan's fiancée, she said:
"Then go and call the doctor, and help her to the guest room next door first."
The butler reached out to help Lian Chuchu up, but the girl lowered her head, concealing the expression in her eyes. She said to the butler:
"No need to trouble you, I can get over by myself by holding onto the wall."
At Lian Chuchu's insistence, the housekeeper turned and left to find the doctor.
Lian Chuchu jumped a few times, leaning against the wall, "thump," "thud."
The two consecutive sounds caused a flash of displeasure to appear in Gu Ying's eyes.
He turned his gaze to the person lying face down in his bedroom door, frowned, and couldn't understand how Lian Chuchu had ended up in his bedroom.
Lian Chuchu raised her head, her face pale, and looked at Gu Ying. She struggled to sit up, supporting herself on the ground, tears welling in her eyes. She spoke apologetically:
"I'm sorry, Brother Gu Ying, I didn't stand properly when I jumped. I'm really sorry."
Gu Ying stared at her for a while, then said calmly:
"It's okay. Since you can't stand up, just wait there for the doctor."
The bedroom floor is covered with blankets, so it's not too cold.
Upon hearing this, Lian Chuchu smiled and said, "Thank you, Brother Gu Ying."
Her gaze then fell on a blanket not far ahead, where her bracelet was shimmering.
Her eyes lit up, and she said with delight, "Brother Gu Ying, the bracelet was here! We've finally found it!"
Following her gaze, Gu Ying peeked out and saw the bracelet lying on the carpet.
He gave Lian Chuchu a meaningful look; the girl's expression seemed genuine.
Gu Ying's tone softened considerably, "Now that we've found it, let Feifan come pick you up after the doctor has examined you."
Lian Chuchu nodded, "Thank you, Brother Gu Ying. I'll wait for the doctor then."
Next, Lian Chuchu did not initiate a conversation with Gu Ying, but instead focused on waiting for the doctor to arrive.
For a moment, the bedroom fell silent.
Until the butler brought the doctor to Gu Ying's place, and saw Lian Chuchu sitting on the ground, the butler was stunned for a moment, and then said:
"So Miss Lian is here? Let me help you over."
As he was about to help Lian Chuchu up, Gu Ying, who was sitting on the bed reading a book, turned her head and said:
"Let's show it to her here, and help her to the sofa over there."
A look of joy flashed in Lian Chuchu's eyes. She then stood up with the help of the butler and hopped towards the sofa.
The housekeeper gently helped her sit down, then turned to the doctor and said:
"Show her."
The doctor nodded.
After examining Lian Chuchu, the doctor applied a medicated plaster and said:
"Just be careful not to do strenuous exercise, and you'll be fine after a week of rest."
Lian Chuchu thanked the doctor.
After the doctor left, Lian Chuchu looked at the housekeeper and asked, "Could you please bring me that chain over there? Thank you."
Lian Chuchu pointed with her index finger to the carpet very close to the bed.
The butler walked in the direction she pointed and indeed saw an exquisite bracelet.
He squatted down to pick it up, walked over and handed it to Lian Chuchu. Lian Chuchu thanked him again, which made the butler feel a little embarrassed.
Lian Chuchu glanced at Gu Ying discreetly, noticing that he seemed very tired, and then whispered to the butler:
"Please go out first. I think Brother Gu Ying is tired. Let him rest well. I won't disturb him here."
The butler nodded to Lian Chuchu, then took a few steps toward Gu Ying and respectfully said:
"Master, you must be tired. Please rest. I'll go and have someone prepare lunch."
Gu Ying was in poor health when he was a child, and catching colds and fevers were common. However, as he grew up, his health improved.
This sudden cold was mostly due to working too hard, and part of the reason might be that Shen Xingmian angered me.
"Gu Ying, you should get some rest. I won't bother you."
Lian Chuchu smiled and said something to Gu Ying. Gu Ying just glanced at her, then pulled up the blanket and lay down.
Gu Ying soon fell asleep.
Lian Chuchu looked around the bedroom. It was large but quiet. The building had an antique feel to it, but Gu Ying seemed to be more casual, and the furniture inside was very modern.
It doesn't look like the architectural style here, but it doesn't seem out of place.
About half an hour later, Gu Ying on the bed frowned, seemingly trapped in a nightmare.
When a person gets sick, they often dream of frightening scenes, muttering, "No, run!"
Before long, these sounds reached Lian Chuchu's ears.
Lian Chuchu could only hear Gu Ying making sounds, but she didn't know what he was saying.
Lian Chuchu stood up. Although she still walked with a slight limp, the pain was nowhere near as unbearable as before.
They quickly reached the bedside and saw the man on the bed with a frown and his face covered in sweat.
You could tell he was in a lot of pain.
Lian Chuchu took a tissue from the cabinet next to her and gently wiped the sweat from Gu Ying's forehead.
Gu Ying was clearly lost in a dream. After wiping the sweat off his face, Lian Chuchu's gaze fell on Gu Ying's hand outside the blanket. She gritted her teeth, reached out and took one of his hands in hers.
......
When Gu Ying opened her eyes, she saw Lian Chuchu kneeling by the bed, looking at her with concern.
A strange feeling flashed through his mind; that look in his eyes... it wasn't his imagination.
When he tried to get up, he found that Lian Chuchu was holding one of his hands completely.
Gu Ying: "......"
Gu Ying's gaze fell on Lian Chuchu, and a feeling of disgust flashed through her heart. She had thought Lian Chuchu was a good person, but now it seemed that she might need to reassess her character.
His voice was somewhat cold: "Let go."
Lian Chuchu seemed startled, her face flushed as she explained:
"Yes, it was because you had a nightmare, Brother Gu Ying, that's why I came over and pulled you back. You calmed down a lot after that."
As she spoke, the tips of her ears turned slightly red, and she glanced shyly at Gu Ying.
Seeing Lian Chuchu like this, a cold glint flashed in Gu Ying's eyes, then a smile appeared on her lips as she asked:
"Really? Then I must thank you, Chuchu."
Lian Chuchu raised her head and gave Gu Ying a gentle smile. "You're welcome. It's what I should do."
If one doesn't let that hint of greed show in the depths of their eyes, perhaps they can truly be convincing.
Gu Ying didn't have much contact with Lian Chuchu; she learned more about her from Lin Feifan, only knowing that she was a simple, kind, and understanding woman.
