Chapter 23 Xi'er's Cousin Invites Her to Dinner

Nan Zhi and Lin Youyou were each sent home. Along the way, Qin Xi'er tried her best to blend in with the two of them.

Lin Youyou was initially quite resistant, but later she started chatting with Qin Xier.

We exchanged contact information and shared our dormitory room numbers for future communication.

Sometimes, getting along with people depends on first impressions. After spending a few days together, the three of them felt that they were quite compatible.

Qin Xier, in particular, even though she wasn't in the same dormitory as Nan Zhi and the others, insisted on coming over every day to stay with them.

On Thursday, the three of them went out for hot pot. On the way there, Qin Xi'er received a phone call and then said to Nan Zhi:

"My brother invited me to dinner. Why don't you two come with me?"

Nanzhi refused without even thinking, "No, you and your brother can go eat."

Qin Xi'er lowered her head, looking somewhat embarrassed:

"But I already told my brother that I'd bring both of you along."

Nan Zhi: "..." Now that you mention it, she doesn't know how to reply.

Lin Youyou had an indifferent attitude, since she could eat and drink for free anyway.

Under Qin Xier's persistent feigned pitifulness, Nan Zhi had no choice but to agree. However, she did not expect that this so-called brother was actually Lian Jin, not Qin Xier's biological brother.

Upon seeing Nan Zhi, Lian Jin was visibly taken aback for a moment, then nodded and said, "Miss Nan."

Nan Zhi smiled and said, "Mr. Lian."

Qin Xi'er: "Zhizhi, do you know my brother?"

Nanzhi smiled at her, "It was just a brief encounter."

Qin Xi'er was even happier, because this way, the awkwardness wouldn't happen.

Lian Jin's main purpose in coming here this time was to see his innocent little cousin. She was the apple of the eye of the Lian and Qin families and had been pampered since childhood. Secondly, after Nan Zhi reminded him last time, Lian Jin had to put in a lot of effort to find out Lian Chuchu's information.

He discovered that even Chu Chu's information had been deliberately concealed, but unfortunately, Lin Feifan was not cautious enough, and he eventually found a breakthrough.

It's truly unexpected that Lian Chuchu could actually hook up with the young master of the Lin family. Her classmates at school are all very protective of her, which is enough to show that she is no ordinary person.

Knowing that Qin Xier and Lian Chuchu went to the same school, Lian Jin hurried over, after all, his little cousin was too naive, and he wanted to prevent her from being deceived.

When Lian Jin saw Nan Zhi, his worries disappeared. Being friends with Nan Zhi would only be beneficial for Qin Xi'er, and there was also the connection with Shen Xingmian. Nan Zhi could also take good care of her little cousin.

Lian Jin took the three of them to a Sichuan restaurant near University A, and sent Shen Xingmian a WeChat message on the way.

Qin Xi'er introduced the group to each other, and when they got to Lin Youyou, Lian Jin paused slightly, "Are you a young lady from the Lin family?"

Lin Youyou nodded nonchalantly, "I guess so."

Lian Jin: "......" What do you mean by "sort of"? It's either yes or no.

Nan Zhi could roughly guess that Lian Jin's purpose in coming here was mostly because of Lian Chuchu. At this moment, he was looking at Lin Youyou with some displeasure, presumably because of Lin Feifan.

“Youyou is different from her brother. You’ll understand once you spend more time with her.”

Nan Zhi lowered her head and sent a message to Lian Jin. Lian Jin's expression softened; he had been too nervous.

"What would you like to eat? Order whatever you like. Thank you for taking care of Xi'er." Lian Jin smiled slightly and spoke to Nan Zhi and Lin Youyou.

Lin Youyou's eyes lit up. She loved this kind of talk the most. Someone was treating her and she could eat whatever she wanted. Nanzhi knew Lin Youyou's personality. Although she was a young lady of the Lin family, she was not liked by her family. Only Lin Feifan treated her quite well.

Now, for Nan Zhi's sake, she has disobeyed Lin Feifan many times. In the book, after Nan Zhi's death, Lin Youyou never forgave Lin Feifan and even caused trouble between the male and female protagonists many times. In the end, Lin Feifan sent her abroad and she never came back.

"Can I really order whatever I want?" Lin Youyou stared at Lian Jin, her eyes sparkling.

Lian Jin nodded, "Of course, Miss Lin, please make yourself at home."

He handed her the menu, and Lin Youyou didn't stand on ceremony. She picked up the menu and ordered several of her favorite dishes. Then she glanced at Nanzhi and added a few more dishes.

"Zhizhi, you love sweet and sour pork ribs and boiled fish the most, I ordered them for you." (A tone seeking praise.)

Nan Zhi was slightly taken aback. Was this her favorite dish? After a moment, she realized that this must be what the original owner of the body liked.

Lian Jin also looked puzzled. He was always observant, and when he had dinner with Nan Zhi last time, she clearly didn't like these two dishes. It was strange, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong.

Nan Zhi smiled and thanked Lin Youyou, "Youyou, you really know me so well."

The original owner was truly blessed to have such a good friend as Lin Youyou.

When the menu reached Lian Jin, he added several more dishes, and in the end, there were more than a dozen plates.

Even Lin Youyou, who always loves to eat, felt a little sorry for the food. "Brother Xi'er, you ordered so much. Can the four of us finish it?"

Even if she wasn't paying for it herself, Lin Youyou didn't want so much food to go to waste; she really couldn't bear to see it go to waste.

Lian Jin laughed, "I can finish it."

Lin Youyou: "I only have one stomach, it really can't hold this much."

Seeing Lin Youyou's troubled expression, Qin Xi'er couldn't help but chuckle softly and even made a joke:

"Youyou, if you hadn't told me, I would have thought you had a lot of stomachs. After all, you are the girl I've ever met who can eat the most."

Lin Youyou blushed. Any girl would feel shy if someone said that to her. She explained, her face still red:

"I just don't like wasting food, so I eat a lot."

It made Nan Zhi and Qin Xi'er laugh, and even Lian Jin smiled because of her adorable performance.

After a while, Lian Jin's phone rang. He answered the call and went out, returning a few minutes later.

However, there were two other people with them. When Nan Zhi looked up and saw that it was Shen Xingmian and Hu Lai, she immediately spat out the water she had just drunk.

Hu Lai said with a hint of schadenfreude, "Nan Zhi, were you scared out of your wits when you saw us? You're so excited."

As soon as Shen Xingmian entered the room, his gaze fell on the girl. He caught the fleeting panic on her face and began to wonder if he had frightened her.

Nan Zhi picked up a tissue and wiped her mouth. All eyes were on her. She first gave Lin Youyou and Qin Xi'er a reassuring smile, then her gaze fell on Hu Lai:

"How could that be? You and I are, at least... relatives."

Nanzhi gave him a meaningful look.

Hu Lai: "..."

Finally remembering the fear of being dominated by "calling her grandma," she took a step back, completely distancing herself from Nanzhi, and found a place to sit down far away from Nanzhi.

Shen Xingmian walked along the table, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and slowly sat down next to Nan Zhi.
