Chapter 344

Nan Zhi stood up, poured a glass of water and handed it to Si Yang, "Drink some water to moisturize your lips, they're a little dry."

Si Yang took it, his eyes full of smiles. He took a sip of water, and his throat felt much better. Sure enough, Nan Zhi was very good to that good-for-nothing Gu Ying. He was injured yesterday, but he rushed to see him today.

"Now that I'm here, I'll wait until you're better before I leave. You were beaten up like this because of me."

Nan Zhi sighed, a mixture of helplessness and heartache in her voice.

Si Yang shook his head. "Zhizhi, you just focus on your own things. I'm fine."

“I’m also feeling restless at home, so it’s good for me to relax here. You should just lie down and rest.”

Nan Zhi's expression softened, and she smiled. "You don't have a place for me to stay here, do you?"

Si Yang chuckled, "How could that be? I'll have someone arrange a room for you."

Nan Zhi settled down at the Gu residence. Her room was next to the master bedroom on the second floor. Si Yang treated Nan Zhi very well, after all, he wanted to learn from Gu Ying's attitude towards Nan Zhi. To avoid arousing suspicion, Nan Zhi basically didn't go anywhere on her own initiative.

The servants here all looked like this imposter's people, and she felt like she was being watched all the time.

Si Yang lay in bed, acting like a patient. Nan Zhi would visit him every day to chat. Her gentle and kind demeanor made Si Yang believe from the bottom of his heart that Nan Zhi was indeed there to see him.

A week passed quickly, and Si Yang was almost fully recovered.

He can walk now and can take Nanzhi for a stroll around the Gu residence.

"Zhizhi, you haven't looked around here yet, have you? The Gu residence is very big, I'll show you around."

Since Si Yang had said so, Nan Zhi wouldn't refuse. She couldn't act rashly now, but she had basically figured out the layout of the place. The building where Gu Ying lived had three floors. The bedrooms and study were on the second floor, the servants and such were on the first floor, and since she arrived, she had never seen anyone go up to the third floor. Once, she even asked Leng Qian curiously, "Couldn't you hold back on the third floor?"

Leng Qian replied respectfully, "No one lives on the third floor; it's all covered in dust. Miss Nan, it's best not to go up there; it's not good for your health."

Nanzhi didn't ask any further questions and nodded to indicate that she understood.

Her sixth sense told her that Gu Ying was likely in one of the rooms on the third floor. However, there were ten rooms on that floor, and she couldn't pinpoint the exact location. She also couldn't go up there rashly, lest she alert Gu Ying.

Si Yang took Nan Zhi to the garden, to the pavilion, and to the Mirror Lake in the Gu residence. Nan Zhi had only been to the Gu residence once before, when Gu Ying was elected as the head of the family.

I didn't look at it carefully back then, but now that I see it, the Gu family's residence is completely built in the style of an ancient prince's mansion. The Gu residence is very large, with many pavilions and living quarters, and the scenery is also designed like a garden.

"Where are the rest of the Gu family?"

Nan Zhi asked, and Si Yang smiled, “They live far from where we live. We live in the southernmost part, and they live in the northernmost part. Under normal circumstances, they don’t come here.”

"Does Aying feel lonely?"

Nanzhi looked up and asked him. Siyang was taken aback, then shook his head. "I'm not lonely. Now that you're here, I'm even less lonely."

Nan Zhi: "..." She didn't know how long this charade would last. Shen Xingmian had already begun investigating the identity of this imposter. If he came from another country and was a member of the royal family, the police would definitely get involved. Who knew if this member of the foreign royal family had any ill intentions?

Nanzhi's current task is to find a place where Gu Ying is being held as soon as possible.

That night, Nan Zhi turned off the lights but couldn't fall asleep. She tossed and turned, and somehow managed to go find Gu Ying without anyone noticing.

The whole building was quiet. Just as Nanzhi was about to fall asleep, she suddenly heard a "thump thump thump" sound. She sat up abruptly, frowned, and listened for a while. In the dead of night, the "thump" sound became clearer and clearer.

Nanzhi picked up her phone and glanced at the time. It was already midnight. Everyone should be fast asleep by now.

Something unusual must be going on. Nan Zhi got out of bed, put on a coat, and tiptoed to the bedroom door. She listened to the sounds outside for a while, and when she found no one was there, she quietly opened the bedroom door.

At that moment, she was glad that she had good hearing and just hoped that no one else could hear her.

When Nanzhi reached the stairwell, she saw that the entire floor was dark, and there was no light in Siyang's room either. She could tell that everyone was asleep.

Nanzhi decided to go up to the third floor to find out what was going on. The sound of knocking on the floor was clearly coming from upstairs.

When passing by Si Yang's house, Nan Zhi didn't dare to make a sound, for fear of waking up the others.

After going upstairs, she could no longer hear the sound, and Nanzhi walked in the direction on the right side of the corridor.

She listened to the sound, and it was coming from the right side of her room.

Nanzhi was in the second room on the right. She walked past the second room and began to investigate from the third room.

There are only three rooms in total.

Nan Zhi first knocked lightly on the door, but the sound was so soft that it might not be heard if you didn't listen carefully. She tried turning the doorknob and it opened. The second to last door also opened directly, but there was no one inside.

When they reached the last room, Nanzhi began to wonder if she was hallucinating.

When she reached out to open the door, she found that the door to the room could not be opened.

A question popped into my head: why could the other rooms be opened, but this one was locked?

She knocked gently on the door, but there was no response. Nanzhi frowned. Could it be that she was mistaken?

Nanzhi knocked again, pressing her ear to the door and listening carefully to the sounds.

Seeing that there was still no movement, Nanzhi couldn't help but feel a little strange. Just as she was about to leave, she heard the sound of a chair falling over inside.

Nan Zhi's heart skipped a beat, and she felt a surge of excitement. She pressed her face against the crack in the door and whispered, "Is that A Ying?"

The other person tapped the floor. Nanzhi suppressed her excitement and continued, "If I ask you a question, you tap the floor; if not, you remain silent."

"Thump."

"Ah Ying, is that person your twin brother or younger brother?"

The other person was silent for a moment, then tapped the floor.

"Are you a descendant of the royal family of Country E?"

"Thump."

Nan Zhi finally understood, which confirmed their previous suspicions. "Aying, just stay put and don't give yourself away. Shen Xingmian and I will rescue you soon."

The other person tapped the floor again, and Nanzhi breathed a sigh of relief. "I can't stay any longer, I have to go now."

"Knock knock knock knock".

Nanzhi: "You told me to be careful?"

"Thump."

"I know, just wait patiently."

After saying that, Nanzhi quickly left.

Knowing where Gu Ying was, Nan Zhi couldn't leave the Gu residence. However, she couldn't contact Shen Xingmian by phone. Si Yang was holding the title of Gu family head, so it would be easy for him to find out if she had been in contact with Shen Xingmian.
