Over three days, Nanzhi took Xu Chaoci to the Nan family home. Her parents still don't know that Nanzhi's biological mother is not actually Xu's biological child.
Nan Li happened to be home as well. Upon seeing Xu Chaoci, he frowned and spoke to Nan Zhi:
"Sis, where's my brother-in-law? You didn't betray him, did you?"
In Nan Li's mind, Shen Xingmian was like a savior. He was now doing incredibly well in the entertainment industry.
Upon first seeing a handsome man with Nanzhi, this reason came to mind.
Nanzhi reached out and patted his head. "What are you thinking about? This is my cousin."
Nan Li covered his head, glanced at Xu Chaoci, and then shouted, "Don't lie to me, I've met your cousin before, he doesn't look like this at all."
Nan Zhi: "...Never mind, there's no point in talking to you. Where are Mom and Dad?"
Nanli glanced upstairs. "Dad's in the study, and Mom's in the bedroom tidying up her clothes."
"Why aren't you going upstairs to call for help?" Nan Zhi kicked Nan Li's shin, urging him to go upstairs and call his parents.
Nan Li turned around and shouted upstairs, "Dad, Mom, my sister is back."
Nanzhi: "..."
Xu Chaoci: "..."
My cousin's brother is quite a character.
Nan Li's roar was actually quite effective. Bai Ya Rou hadn't even straightened her clothes before she hurriedly opened the door and came out. When she saw Nan Zhi downstairs, her smile was brighter than ever before.
Nan's father slowly walked out of the study, and upon seeing his daughter, he went downstairs with Bai Yarou.
Nan Li stared at Xu Chaoci quietly for a while before deciding to inform her brother-in-law.
Without further ado, I picked up my phone and sent a message.
"Brother-in-law, my sister has a dog outside, and she's already brought it home to meet my parents."
Shen Xingmian was working on his computer when his phone vibrated. He picked it up with one hand and glanced at it. The words he heard made him furrow his brows deeply.
He stopped looking at the computer and sent a question mark.
Nan Li replied quickly, "My sister still won't admit it. I think she wants a divorce. You'd better come quickly."
Shen Xingmian: "......"
Nan Li couldn't explain it clearly on the phone either. He put down his phone, sat quietly for a few seconds, and then Shen Xingmian stood up, picked up her phone and car keys, and walked towards the door.
Hu Lai and Shen Xingmian, who had just arrived, met at the door. "Old Shen, I need to talk to you about this project."
"You and Lian Jin can handle the planning. I'm leaving now."
The project they're talking about is the same one the Lian family is working on. The Lian family head had to put on a smiling face for Lian Jin and completely change his attitude towards him before Lian Jin was willing to take it on.
Shen Xingmian walked past Hu Lai and left, leaving Hu Lai looking bewildered. "Hey, it's not time to leave work yet."
His response was Shen Xingmian's ever-receding steps.
Hu Lai: "......."
Nanjia
After listening to Nan Zhi's story, Bai Yarou, Nan's father, and Nan Li fell silent in the hall, because none of them had expected that Nan Zhi's mother was not Xu's biological child.
Nan Li quickly took out his phone and sent a message to Shen Xingmian: "Brother-in-law, I made a mistake. The man who came is really my sister's cousin. You don't need to come."
After sending the message, there was no reply, so Nanli stopped paying attention to it.
"Oh, I see. It's good that you recognized each other."
Nan's father sighed. He was already marrying above his station with the Xu family of Yuecheng. His first wife had voluntarily married into the Nan family for business reasons, which led to the Nan family's current prosperity, which was much better than before.
But Nan's father could sense that his wife didn't like him and wasn't very happy after marrying him. However, she was gentle and considerate, and the two lived a respectful life together. But unexpectedly, a little over a year after giving birth to Nanzhi, she went back to her parents' home and never came back.
Xu Chaoci did have a rather cold demeanor, but he was extremely respectful when facing Nanzhi's father.
"We were also very fortunate to meet Zhizhi, and that's when we found out that she was her aunt's daughter."
Just then, the doorbell rang. Nan Li ran to open the door and saw Shen Xingmian standing there with a gloomy expression.
Nan Li immediately beamed with joy, "Brother-in-law, you're here? Did you see the message I sent you?"
Shen Xingmian was taken aback. A message? He had rushed over by car; he didn't have time to check messages.
Thinking of this, she opened the window and took a look. When Nan Li sent the message, he was almost there. Shen Xingmian glanced at Nan Li indifferently, then stepped inside.
As Nanli closed the door behind him, he felt as if his brother-in-law was disliking him, which was unacceptable.
He ran a few steps to catch up, and shouted loudly:
"My brother-in-law is here."
Nan Zhi looked at Shen Xingmian with surprise, "You haven't gotten off work yet, have you? What brings you here?"
Shen Xingmian sat down next to Nan Zhi with a cold face, squeezing a space between Nan Zhi and Xu Chaoci. Nan Zhi found him amusing and moved aside to make room for Shen Xingmian.
Everyone: "......"
This was the first time I had ever seen Shen Xingmian like this.
“Your brother sent me here. He said if I hadn’t come, you would have run off with some other man.”
Upon hearing Shen Xingmian's whispered words in her ear, Nan Zhi looked directly at Nan Li with unwavering eyes.
Nan Li: "......" What did he do wrong?
He silently lowered his head, picked up an apple, and started eating it. It was fine as long as he couldn't see or hear anything.
