Chapter 37: Initial Change of View on Lin Shuang

As soon as I entered the door, I saw Li Qing coming out of the room.

"Sister-in-law, you are back. I didn't keep an eye on Jingyu. I'm so sorry." Li Qing's face turned a little red. He really didn't know what happened to him. He couldn't keep an eye on someone.

"It's okay. It's not your fault. He insisted on running away."

Lin Shuang could only sigh at the pull of the plot. No matter how she prepared, the plot would unfold in various ways. She was here to modify the plot.

"Sister-in-law, since you are back, I will leave first."

After saying this, Li Qing ran back home.

Before Lin Shuang could finish her words, Li Qing left.

"Xiao Ce, let's move these things downstairs. You stay home with your brothers and sisters. I'll go return the ox cart to the village chief."

"Okay, stepmother." After Xiao Ce said that, he started to move the rice. He couldn't move rice and flour, so Lin Shuang moved them herself and asked Xiao Ce to take the pastries.

The other three kids also helped, and after they were done, all three ran to the room to see Xiao Yi.

"Xiao Ce, I'm going to return the ox cart. You guys stay home and lock the door. Don't open it for anyone."

Lin Shuang gave instructions to prevent anyone with bad intentions from coming over.

"Stepmother, I understand."

Xiao Ce also understood Lin Shuang's thoughts, but the people in this village were really nice, and at most there was some verbal wrangling.

However, I have always been on guard, and in the past I was only wary of my stepmother.

Lin Shuang was pulling the oxcart towards the village chief's house. People saw her along the way, and some of them had a better impression of her because they had eaten her wild boar meat the previous day.

"Lin Shuang, are you back from selling wild boar meat today?" Immediately, villagers came forward and asked, with curiosity and a hint of exploration on their faces.

"Auntie, it's sold now. How about you eat?" Lin Shuang saw that everyone in the village was more concerned about her affairs, so she just said it. It seemed that this aunt had no bad intentions.

Most people in the village are very simple and honest, unlike the officials who are full of schemes.

"Did you buy some rice and flour after selling the wild boar meat? You have several people in your family, so you need food."

When the aunt saw Lin Shuang replied to her, the smile on her face deepened a little, and she unconsciously moved closer to Lin Shuang.

"Thank you, Auntie. I've already bought some rice and flour. It'll last me for a while."

Lin Shuang smiled slightly, the fierceness on her face had disappeared, and she looked gentler and more like a kind mother.

"That's good, Lin Shuang. You seem different now. But everything is fine now. The children usually look very well behaved. If you are kind to them, they will take it to heart."

The aunt said this with a smile. Seeing that Lin Shuang was not angry, she thought about the cucumbers at home.

"Wait a moment, I'll go back to the house." Auntie immediately ran back quickly.

I went back and took out two cucumbers.

"Lin Shuang, take this, don't think it's too little, you can use this to make a dish.

Now that you have made money from selling wild boar meat, you can't spend it lavishly. You have several people in your family and you eat a lot, even though you are just a few kids. As the saying goes, little brats can eat the old man out of house and home.

You have to spend it sparingly." Auntie said earnestly, fearing that Lin Shuang would spend all the money and the family would go hungry again.

"Auntie, thank you so much. I can cook a dish now. I remember everything you said."

"Now, I've figured it out. These kids are sensible and cute. I was crazy before. My parents-in-law treated me so well, but I still did something like this.

From now on, I will treat them well."

Lin Shuang took the opportunity to tell the villagers about her future plans, so that they would naturally accept her greater changes in the future.

"It's best if you think so. Look, Auntie is really talkative. It's getting dark, so you should get busy."

"Okay." Lin Shuang wasted some time here and quickened his pace to rush to the village chief's house.

When Lin Shuang arrived at the village chief's house, she saw a little boy playing in the mud outside the door.

When I heard the voice, I looked up and saw that it was Lin Shuang, the famous vicious woman in the village, who was said to eat children.

Shi Tou swallowed, a little nervous, stood up suddenly, and slowly backed away.

His eyes never left Lin Shuang, fearing that she would suddenly go crazy and hit someone.

"Shi Tou, where is your grandfather? I'm here to return the ox cart." Lin Shuang asked.

But Shitou not only didn't answer, but he shouted at the top of his voice, "Grandpa, the vicious woman is here, she wants to eat me."

He ran and shouted and went straight into the house.

Lin Shuang stood there awkwardly.

The original owner's reputation really lasted from the age of sixty to the age of three.

The village chief heard his grandson's shouting and came out of the house.

"What are you doing? Calling for the soul? Your grandpa is not dead yet."

The village chief grabbed Shi Tou directly and saw the fear on Shi Tou’s face.

"Grandpa, the vicious bad woman is here. She is Xiao Jingyu's stepmother." Shi Tou shouted.

Why does Shi Tou hate Lin Shuang so much? Xiao Jingyu is a good friend of his. Later, he always sees Xiao Jingyu being beaten by Lin Shuang.

As time went by, Shi Tou hated Lin Shuang more and more, and was also afraid of her. Every time he saw Xiao Jingyu's miserable condition, Shi Tou shuddered.

"How can you talk like that, kid? You should call me Aunt Lin."

The village chief pulled Shitou's ear, and the beard on his face moved in anger. His brows were furrowed, and the wrinkles on his forehead deepened.

"Grandpa, it hurts, it hurts, let go." Shi Tou shouted, escaped from the village chief's hands, ran out, and crashed straight into Lin Shuang.

"Ouch." The stone was knocked down, and Lin Shuang took a step or two back due to the impact.

"Kid, you can't even walk properly." The village chief followed behind, looking anxious and surprised.

"Grandpa, I'm not in pain. I'm going to find my mother." He glanced at Lin Shuang cautiously, pursed his lips, lowered his head and ran to find his mother.

After Shitou left, the village chief turned to look at Lin Shuang. "Lin Shuang, you're here to return the ox cart. Have you sold all of them today?"

The village chief spoke with a hint of concern, a kind look on his face, his hands behind his back.

Lin Shuang looked at the village chief and said, "Village chief, this is your ox cart. The waiter has already fed it during the day. Here's the money for renting your ox cart today."

Lin Shuang took out his purse, opened it, counted out thirty coins and handed them to the village chief.

The village chief looked at Lin Shuang in front of him and counted out thirty coins to him. He was stunned for a moment, not knowing how to react.

In the past, people never paid for borrowing the ox cart. I felt sorry for my children, so I never charged any money.

But now, why did he suddenly give me money?
