Gu Yanyue slowly woke up and opened her eyes. What caught her eye was the white veil above her head. Looking to the left, she saw Tuoba Chen sitting beside her, guarding her.
Seeing her open her eyes, Tuoba Chen breathed a sigh of relief, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes, and he said softly: "Seeing that you haven't woken up yet, I was wondering if the dosage I gave you was too high, so you slept for so long."
Gu Yanyue saw that she was in an unfamiliar environment and that Tuoba Chen was the only one beside her. Even if she hadn't thought about it, she could easily guess that it was Tuoba Chen who had abducted her from the palace. Looking out the window at the brightening sky, it seemed that a whole night had passed since she was abducted from the palace. She wondered what Yuwen Ran would do if he knew about her abduction.
She sighed, got up from the bed, looked at Tuoba Chen and asked, "You've been guarding me all night, so I guess you haven't eaten anything, right?"
Tuoba Chen was stunned. He thought Gu Yanyue would definitely throw a tantrum when she woke up. After all, she had righteously rejected him so many times yesterday for Yuwen Ran. He ignored her rejections and secretly kidnapped her from the palace. Any normal person would be angry, right?
But now, not only was Gu Yanyue not angry, she even asked him if he was hungry. Tuoba Chen's originally dim eyes flashed for a moment, and he nodded, "Yeah."
Gu Yanyue stood up, adjusted her dress and hair, looked at Tuoba Chen and asked, "Is it okay if I could use the kitchen of this restaurant to cook a meal for you?"
Tuoba Chen frowned, looking at Gu Yanyue, who seemed to be thinking about something. Gu Yanyue seemed to see what he was thinking and said, "If you are worried, you can go with me yourself. If you think the kitchen is not clean, you can send someone to go with me."
Tuoba Chen smiled faintly: "How could I not trust Ayue? I know Ayue's cooking skills. I really look forward to Ayue personally making some food for me."
Gu Yanyue got Tuoba Chen's permission and asked the waiter to take her to the kitchen. After explaining the reason to the chef, they took the initiative to give Gu Yanyue a seat, allowing her to fully display her talents.
Gu Yanyue looked at the ingredients in the kitchen and planned to make some home-cooked dishes for Tuoba Chen that were not available in this dynasty, such as black pepper, tomato and lean meat, Songhua fish, fried meatballs and pumpkin steamed eggs.
Gu Yanyue deliberately made a big scene, and the chefs who were originally holding the frying pans stopped what they were doing and looked at Gu Yanyue.
Gu Yanyue felt the chefs' gazes, and her hands moved faster instead of slower. She quickly washed the small pumpkin, cut off the top, scooped out the pumpkin seeds with a spoon, and scraped off some of the pumpkin flesh along the inner wall. She controlled the thickness of the pumpkin inner wall to about 0.6 centimeters. If it was scraped too thick, it would not be good, and if it was scraped too thin, it would affect the taste.
She placed the pumpkin, lid included, into the already boiling pot, intending to steam it first. While doing so, she prepared the eggs and set them aside, then went to prepare the other dishes.
She sliced the lean meat and marinated it with salt, oil, soy sauce, and black pepper for fifteen minutes. She then cut the lean and fatty pork into small pieces. Since she didn't have a food processor, she had to mince the meat manually. Then she added salt, pepper, and cornstarch, chopped scallions, minced ginger, chopped mushrooms, and an egg white, and mixed everything together...
After all the dishes were out of the pot, the chefs who smelled the aroma swallowed their saliva unconsciously. In order to thank the chefs for giving up their space for her, Gu Yanyue made an extra portion to thank them, and then she returned to the room with the four prepared dishes.
What she didn't know was that these four dishes were eventually served to the customers' tables in the restaurant, and somehow word got to the restaurant across the street, saying that a new chef had come to the restaurant and had made four dishes she had never seen before.
The restaurant across the street happened to be run by Gu Yanyue. When he heard that the dish was something he had never cooked before, and that the city had been sealed off last night in an attempt to find Gu Yanyue, the owner quickly sent someone to the palace to report to the emperor.
In the restaurant room across the street, Tuoba Chen finished his meal, put down his bowl and chopsticks, took a few deep breaths, stood up, straightened his clothes, and sat down again. He cleared his throat several times and spoke with trepidation: "Ayue, I've admired you for a long time. Can you come back to the Western Regions with me?"
Gu Yanyue shook her head and was about to say no, but she didn't expect Tuoba Chen to give her the chance at all. He strode up to Gu Yanyue, held her face and was about to kiss her.
Gu Yanyue was startled and tried to struggle subconsciously, but Tuoba Chen held her hand and was about to kiss her.
At this time, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Yuwen Ran rushed in with a group of imperial guards. As soon as he entered the room, he saw Tuoba Chen holding Gu Yanyue tightly and trying to kiss her forcibly.
Yuwen Ran and Tuoba Chen's eyes met, and Yuwen Ran's eyes were full of deep hatred. Without saying a word, he pulled Gu Yanyue from Tuoba Chen's arms to his back, and then punched her.
Tuoba Chen was hit on the side by Yuwen Ran, and he tilted his head and spit out a mouthful of blood. He wiped the corner of his mouth with his thumb, his eyes turned cold, and he asked Yuwen Ran in a hoarse voice: "What do you mean by this?"
Yuwen Ran ignored him and raised his foot to kick Tuoba Chen again. It could be said that the first time Yuwen Ran hit Tuoba Chen, it was because Tuoba Chen didn't react. But the second time, even though Tuoba Chen reacted, he was still kicked to the ground by Yuwen Ran.
"I've said that A Yue is my legally married wife, so don't touch her." Yu Wenran gritted his teeth.
"You'd better keep an eye on Ah Yue and don't give me any chance to get close to her, otherwise don't blame me for not warning you."
"Thank you for the reminder. I will never let you appear in A Yue's sight again."
After saying that, Yuwen Ran picked up Gu Yanyue and carried her into the carriage.
After getting on the carriage, Yu Wen Ran did not let go and kept holding Gu Yanyue, not moving for a long time.
On the surface, it seemed that Yuwen Ran was just hugging Gu Yanyue without saying anything. Only when you looked closely could you see the slight trembling on Yuwen Ran's shoulders.
Yu Wenran now thought about the night he found out Gu Yanyue was kidnapped, and he was filled with fear. What if Gu Yanyue never came back? What if he couldn't find her? He hadn't dared to close his eyes since last night.
Gu Yanyue could sense Yuwen Ran's fear. She took the initiative to reach out and pat Yuwen Ran's back, burying herself deeply in Yuwen Ran's arms, and said in a muffled voice: "Aran, it's okay, don't be afraid, I'm back."
Gu Yanyue held his hand tightly, brought it to her lips and kissed it. Only then did Yu Wenran feel that it was real. He had found Gu Yanyue and he had not lost Gu Yanyue.
