Chapter 208: Old Stories at the Base
The news that Si Xu had left Xiling Base quickly spread throughout the base. When Chen Yao came out of the laboratory, a colleague patted her on the shoulder.
"Yaoyao, has Professor Si really left? Will he come back?"
Chen Yao shook her head: "Seventh Brother never told me."

When he looked at her with a smile, his beautiful light golden eyes were filled with a hint of doting and tenderness, just like - they were the most familiar couple in love.
He held a potato in his hand, tossing it up and catching it again: "Stir-fried shredded potatoes with meat, want some?"
"Eat your uncle!" Unmoved by the man's gentleness, Shen Yao threw the bag of vegetables she was carrying at him and cursed, "Qin Huai! When the hell are you going to get out?!"
Ever since he followed her home the night of the explosion, he has been stuck to her house like a plaster.
Worried that she would expose his whereabouts, he used his psychic powers to control her, making her act like a lunatic now.
Catching the bag she threw at him, Qin Huai smiled harmlessly: "I'm not interested in you, you don't have to be so defensive of me."
After saying that, he walked into the kitchen carrying the bag.

"You..." Chen Yao was furious. She rushed into the kitchen in her slippers, looking around, then grabbed a knife and started to chop him. "Qin Huai! I'm going to fight you!"
Qin Huai easily grasped her waving hand, sighed, looked at her eyes that had lost focus again, took the knife from her hand and put it back in its place: "You go out first."
Shen Yao obediently turned around and walked out of the kitchen.
The moment she left the kitchen, she regained consciousness.
Knowing that rushing in again was useless, Shen Yao angrily returned to the sofa and sat down. Seeing the things on the coffee table, she was stunned and angry: "Qin Huai! Who told you to rummage through my cabinets?!"
There was a bag of White Rabbit milk candy scattered on the coffee table. It was given to her by Si Xu, but she was reluctant to eat it.
"You mean that toffee?" Qin Huai's voice came from the kitchen, and you could hear the smile inside. "You like White Rabbit too? I like it too."
"You like White Rabbit?" Shen Yao scoffed at him, "A scumbag like you is not worthy of my White Rabbit!"
Qin Huai laughed and didn't respond.
Thinking that she had choked him, Shen Yao casually picked up a candy, opened it, and put it into her mouth. The rich milky aroma spread in her mouth, and her wrinkled face relaxed.
This taste is healing.
Qin Huai quickly cooked two dishes, put them on the table, and said to her, "Have dinner, and eat less sugar."
"None of your business!" Shen Yao walked to the dining table and sat down, glaring at him, "Where's the meal?"
"Go get it yourself." Qin Huai ignored her and sat down to eat.
Chen Yao kicked the table leg: "Then I won't eat - if I starve to death, you'll be finished, Qin Huai."
Qin Huai looked at her and smiled slightly: "Why am I finished?"
“If I’m not in the lab for even one day, my colleagues will notice something’s wrong, and then there’s no place to hide.”
"Well, that's what I thought at first." Qin Huai put down his chopsticks, supporting his face with his hands, the curve of his mouth becoming more gentle. "But, I just heard that Si Xu took Jiang Ranran away from the base. Is that true?"
Chen Yao subconsciously denied: "Of course it's fake! How could Brother Seven leave the base?!"
She knew very well that in the current Xiling base, the only one who could control this monster was Si Xu.
"You denied it so quickly, it seems to be true." Qin Huai narrowed his eyes. "Should I say I'm lucky? Do you think that after Si Xu leaves this time and comes back, will Xiling Base still be able to accommodate him?"
"What do you want to do?" Shen Yao stood up suddenly, clasped her hands on the table, and said through gritted teeth, "I'm warning you..."
Before she could finish her words, there was a knock on the apartment door.
"Yaoyao, are you there?"
Shen Yao froze and didn't answer.
"It's Suqin."
Being in the same laboratory, Qin Huai was very familiar with Su Qin's voice.
He stood up and walked towards the door: "How can you not invite guests in when they come?"
"No!" Pulling Qin Huai's arm tightly, Shen Yao's eyes were panicked and she begged in a low voice, "Don't hurt her, Qin Huai."
"How could that be?" Qin Huai still smiled. "I'm happy to meet an old friend. How could I hurt her?"
Seeing the man's smile, Shen Yao felt as if she had fallen into ice water, and the bone-chilling cold made her shiver uncontrollably.
He subconsciously let go of Qin Huai's hand.
Outside the door, Su Qin continued to knock: "Yaoyao, are you there? I came to see you."
Qin Huai walked towards the door.
Shen Yao suddenly grabbed a chair and threw it at the man, screaming, "Su Qin! Go!"
Qin Huai didn't dodge, the chair brushed past his shoulder, fell to the ground and broke into pieces.
Outside the door, the knocking and talking sounds disappeared.
Qin Huai turned around and looked at the trembling girl, his eyes full of pity, and sighed: "Silly girl, do you think that my psychic ability cannot be used just because there is a door between us?"
