Chapter 37 Who is the plaintiff and who is the defendant?

Zhang Hujun drove a ox cart over, and Zhang Hubing and Xiang Chunhua also came back.

Zhao Guoliang and several villagers also came with Chen Erlang.

Zhang Hubing asked, "What happened to Dad?"

Wang pointed at Chen Dalang and said, "He beat him up."

Zhang Hubing glared, "You are looking for death..."

He was ready to kick Chen Dalang a few times, but when he saw that Chen Dalang's face was pale and he was still hugging his legs and groaning, he asked, "What's wrong with him?"

Wang replied, "Your sister beat him."

Zhang Hubing shrank his neck and looked at Zhang Hulan carefully. He was a little scared of Zhang Hulan. He had seen Zhang Hulan kick Chen Erlang away before. He felt that Zhang Hulan was even more aggressive than when he was a child.

Zhang Hulan glanced at Xiang Chunhua and asked, "How is your hand?"

Xiang Chunhua stretched out her hands again. Both of them were scratched and bleeding a little, but it was not a big problem.

Zhang Hulan said, "Come with us to the county town to have the doctor bandage it."

Zhang Hujun stepped forward and said to Zhang Hubing, "I will carry Dad onto the ox cart, and you hold Dad's legs."

Wang hurried into the house and took a quilt to put on the ox cart. Zhang Hujun and Zhang Hubing put Old Man Zhang on the ox cart.

Zhao Guoliang then asked, "What exactly happened?"

Zhou explained the situation to Zhao Guoliang, and then he looked at Zhang Hulan and asked, "Hulan, what are you going to do about this?"

Zhang Hulan said, "Uncle Lizheng, I plan to report to the police. I don't want them to cause endless trouble in the future."

Zhao Guoliang nodded, "Okay, let's report it to the police."

When Mrs. Cao heard that she was going to report to the police, she immediately got up from the ground and shouted, "Okay, report to the police. Zhang Hulan beat my son like this, I will also report to the county magistrate."

Zhang Hulan glanced at Mrs. Cao and said, "Don't worry, you will all meet the county magistrate."

Zhang Hulan then said to Zhang Hubing, "You, mother, and sister-in-law should stay at home and take care of him. My brother and I will take father to see a doctor."

Zhang Hubing said, "No, I want to go too. Chunhua is injured, I have to go and accompany her."

Zhang Hulan took a deep breath, suppressed the urge to beat Zhang Hubing, and said to Zhang Hujun, "Brother, then you stay."

Zhang Hujun asked, "Can you and Lao Er go?"

"It's okay. It's fine."

Zhang Hulan then said to Zhao Guoliang and Zhou: "Uncle Lizheng, Aunt Zhou, I have to trouble you to make another trip. Aunt Zhou, please help me testify."

Zhao Guoliang nodded, "Okay, if something happens in the village, I will definitely go there."

Zhang Hulan finally said, "Mom, brother and sister-in-law, I'll leave the house to you."

Wang nodded, "Don't worry about the family, just go now."

Zhang Hulan and her friends rushed to the county town, and Zhang Hulan brought Zhang Xinyao, Zhang Xinyi and Zhang Xinyue with her.

When they arrived at the county town, they went to the clinic first.

Zhao Guoliang helped carry Old Man Zhang into the clinic. Zhang Hulan explained the situation to the clinic owner, "Boss, my father broke his leg some time ago and it was you who fixed it. It was Doctor Yang who fixed my father's leg. My father was pushed down this afternoon and his leg must have been broken again."

The shopkeeper said, "How did you get pushed down? I remember your father's leg was reattached less than half a month ago. It was a period of growth. If you fell, it would have to grow again."

The shopkeeper scolded him, then said, "Doctor Yang is still here, bring your father in."

Zhang Hubing and Zhao Guoliang carried Old Man Zhang into Doctor Yang's clinic. Old Lady Cao asked Chen Erlang to carry Chen Dalang to the clinic as well. The shopkeeper asked Zhang Hulan, "Are you guys here together?"

Zhang Hulan shook her head, "No, it has nothing to do with us."

The shopkeeper was puzzled. You clearly came here together, so why aren’t you together?

However, Zhang Hulan said that they were not together, and the shopkeeper didn't say anything.

Zhang Hulan said to the shopkeeper, "Shopkeeper, you'd better ask them first if they have money, don't wait until you see the doctor and then you don't have money to pay the consultation fee."

The shopkeeper was stunned for a moment, then looked at Mrs. Cao and Chen Erlang and asked, "You didn't bring any silver?"

Mrs. Cao glared at Zhang Hulan and said, "Da Lang was injured by you. Of course you have to pay for the medical expenses."

Zhang Hulan snorted coldly, "You said I should pay? We have to wait until the county magistrate makes his decision. Besides, he was the one who injured my father, so you have to pay for his medical expenses."

Mrs. Cao said angrily, "You just watch Dalang suffer?"

Zhang Hulan laughed angrily, "I don't care whether he's in pain or not. Do I have anything to do with him?"

Zhang Hulan didn't want to waste time with Mrs. Cao, so she said to Zhang Hubing, "You stay here and look after Dad. Let's go to the government office first."

Zhang Hubing asked, "What about the money for seeing the doctor?"

"You guys wait here, I'll pay the bill later."

Zhang Hubing added, "You have to pay for Chunhua's consultation too."

Zhang Hulan glared at Zhang Hubing but didn't say anything. Xiang Chunhua had also contributed today. If she hadn't run out to call for help, Zhang Xinyao and the other three sisters might have fallen into the hands of Chen Dalang and his men.

"It's all mine."

Zhang Hulan said something, and then went to the county government office with Zhao Guoliang and others.

Mrs. Cao asked Chen Erlang to carry Chen Dalang on his back so that the county magistrate could see how badly Chen Dalang was injured.

At this time, the yamen was about to close. The yamen runner at the door was stunned when he saw Zhang Hulan. Zhang Hulan stepped forward and said, "Brother officer, I'm here to report a case. Can you help pass it on?"

The yamen runner was in a dilemma. At this time, he was still looking for work for the county magistrate, which was a bit ignorant.

However, the yamen runners saw a large group of people coming, some of whom were lying on ox carts, and they thought it was a serious matter.

The bailiff asked, "What happened to you?"

Zhang Hulan briefly explained the matter to the yamen runner, who thought for a moment and said, "Wait a minute, I'll go and inform the county magistrate first. If the county magistrate doesn't accept it now, you can only come back tomorrow."

The bailiff went into the county government office to report and came out soon.

"The county magistrate will be here soon, please wait a moment."

After a while, the sound of "dong dong" was heard from the yamen, as the yamen runners stomped the ground with their killing sticks.

A bailiff came out and told Zhang Hulan and the others to go in.

After everyone knelt down and saluted, Wu Deyong slammed the gavel and asked, "Who is here? What's going on? Tell the truth."

Before Zhang Hulan could say anything, Old Lady Cao burst into tears and shouted, "My Lord, please help me..."

Wu Deyong was stunned. Just now, the bailiff came in to report and said that Zhang Hulan was the plaintiff. How come the defendant started to cry out for injustice before the plaintiff even spoke?

Wu Deyong slammed the gavel again and shouted, "Who is the plaintiff? Who is the defendant?"

Zhang Hulan and Old Lady Cao answered at the same time: "I am the plaintiff..."

"I am the plaintiff..."
