After leaving her room, Shu Lan began to stroll around the Shu residence.
The bright moon is high in the sky, and the evening breeze rustles through the leaves, whispering secrets of the night.
As Shu Lan walked, she pondered what weapon to make for Qin An. She realized that she would be teaching Qin An magic and swordsmanship tomorrow, and she hadn't yet prepared a suitable weapon for him.
Unconsciously, Shu Lan walked into the bamboo grove in the backyard. The evening breeze gently swirled a few bamboo leaves, scattering them around Shu Lan.
A bamboo leaf playfully landed in Shu Lan's hand. Only then did Shu Lan realize that she had already entered the bamboo forest.
"Bamboo forest...bamboo...sword..."
“That’s right!” Shu Lan suddenly clapped her hands. “I can make a bamboo sword. It just so happens that Xiao An is in the basic stage right now and can’t handle weapons with higher grades yet.”
True to her word, Shulan began selecting her target in the bamboo forest. After a while, Shulan's eyes lit up, "I've decided on you!"
Shu Lan found a bamboo stalk of suitable thickness, used her spiritual power to create a blade, and neatly cut it in half. She then used the same method to cut off the bamboo tip and remove the branches.
Then, Shu Lan found a carving knife in her storage ring. Holding the piece of bamboo, she sat cross-legged in the bamboo forest and began to carve the sword with the knife.
The soft moonlight streamed down, drifting through the gaps in the bamboo and falling upon Shulan. It cast a hazy glow over her entire body, making her appear like a celestial being descended to earth under the moon, a truly enchanting sight.
After taking a shower, Qin An went to bed and waited for Shu Lan to come and sleep. He waited a long time, but Shu Lan didn't come. Qin An tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. So he simply got dressed and quietly got out of bed.
Qin An walked quietly through the Shu residence, without disturbing anyone's sleep.
He walked through the front courtyard, stepped over the central pavilion, and circled the garden. He couldn't find any trace of Shu Lan anywhere. Qin An grew anxious, his steps becoming increasingly hurried.
Just then, Qin An heard some noises in the backyard. He moved his small feet and quietly walked into the backyard.
After walking a few steps, Qin An suddenly hid behind a rock. He had already seen Shu Lan and the painting of the immortal under the moon.
Qin An's eyes widened slightly as he stared intently at the breathtaking scene, not wanting to miss a single second.
After a while, Qin An noticed that Shu Lan was whittling something in her hand. Upon closer inspection, he saw it was a bamboo sword.
Upon seeing the bamboo sword, Qin An suddenly realized that his master brother hadn't come to sleep so late to make him one. Thinking of this, a warm feeling welled up in Qin An's heart, and his nose tingled with emotion. How could his master brother be so kind? What had he done to deserve such kindness?
Before this, besides her mother, no one had ever loved her like her master. Just a month ago, she was a lowly slave. Everything she possessed was given to her by her master; he had given her a new life.
Tears rolled down Qin An's cheeks, one by one, and fell to the ground with a soft patter. It took Qin An a while to calm himself down and wipe away his tears with his sleeve.
Just then, a slightly chilly evening breeze began to blow. Qin An shivered and stepped on a tree branch. With a "crack," the branch snapped.
"Who?!" Shu Lan was completely focused on carving her bamboo sword, about to complete the last few steps. Suddenly, she heard a strange noise and quickly became alert.
"Master, it's me..." Qin An said weakly, slowly emerging from behind the rock. He covered his face with his hands in embarrassment.
"Phew, it's Xiao An! You scared me to death! Why are you still up so late?"
"Master brother, it's because you haven't come to sleep. I can't sleep alone in bed." There was a hint of grievance in Qin An's small voice.
"Uh..." Thinking about it, it really did seem to be her fault. Shu Lan suddenly felt embarrassed and swallowed back the words of reprimand she was about to say.
"I'm so sorry, it's all my fault. Xiao An, please wait a little longer, okay? This bamboo sword is almost finished." Shu Lan said as she continued working.
"Okay, sure." Qin An waited quietly to the side.
After a while, Shu Lan made the final few cuts, and the bamboo sword was finished.
"Here you go, Xiao An, try it out and see if it's comfortable to use?" Shu Lan handed the bamboo sword to Qin An.
"Master, is this sword really mine now?" Qin An carefully took the bamboo sword with both hands, cherishing it immensely.
Shu Lan said with a smile, "If I don't give it to you, who else would I give it to? From now on, this bamboo sword is yours."
"Yes, thank you, Master Brother." Qin An gently stroked the bamboo sword with his hand. This was the first bamboo sword his Master Brother had made for him, and he would definitely protect it well. "I like it very much."
"I'm glad you like it." Shu Lan took Qin An's small hand. "Now let's go back to sleep, okay?"
"I will listen to my master brother."
"Oh right, I forgot to ask you, what color was the spiritual energy you absorbed tonight?" Shu Lan asked as they walked.
"It's gold and red."
"That's a dual spiritual root of metal and fire! Xiao An is amazing!"
"Thank you for the compliment, Master."
"Once we get to the Star River Sect, I'll give you another test."
"Star River Sect?"
"Oh, you'll see when the time comes."
Shu Lan and Qin An walked further and further away, their voices fading into the vast night.
The next morning, Qin An woke up first. He opened his eyes and looked at Shu Lan's peaceful sleeping face, feeling incredibly content. Qin An snuggled closer, burying his face in Shu Lan's arms. Inhaling the cool fragrance of magnolia blossoms, he felt completely at ease.
At dawn, Shu Lan woke up on time. He greeted Qin An, who was also awake in his arms, with a "Good morning," and then pulled Qin An to wash up together.
After washing up, Shu Lan led Qin An to the backyard. She prepared to teach him magic and swordsmanship.
"The Spirit Summoning Technique includes corresponding spells and sword techniques. I transferred them all to you last night. Try them out first, and ask me if you have any questions."
"I understand, Master Brother." Qin An nodded knowingly.
Because the "Spirit Guiding Technique" is a supplementary cultivation method to the "Ancestral Spirit Scripture," Shu Lan had also practiced its spells and swordsmanship in her spare time. Although she hadn't reached the pinnacle of mastery as with the martial arts of the "Ancestral Spirit Scripture," she had still achieved a thorough understanding and made some progress. Teaching Qin An would be no problem at all.
"Brother Master, why does my fireball always go out suddenly just as it's about to condense?"
"Try gathering your spiritual energy here, then disperse the spiritual power in your hands."
"Master, how can we make the Golden Blade Technique more powerful?"
"Control your spiritual energy output; don't inject it all at once."
"Master, there are still some things I don't understand."
"Yes, control this acupoint well..."
...
And so it went, one asking and one answering. Whenever Qin An encountered difficulties, Shu Lan would always provide timely answers, demonstrate for him, and teach him step by step. The same was true when he was learning swordsmanship.
