Chapter 2 Becoming the Grandmaster Uncle of the Star River Sect

"Don't be nervous. I am Venerable Lieyang, the Supreme Elder of the Star River Sect. I have come to find my junior brother on the orders of my late master," said the old man in red robes with white hair and a youthful face.

"I wonder who your junior brother is...?"

“Far away, yet so close at hand.” Venerable Lieyang looked at Shulan in the man’s arms.

"This...is my son Shulan!" The man looked at the baby in his arms in disbelief.

Venerable Lieyang nodded.

"This, this is impossible?! My son was just born."

"My late master prophesied that one day a strange phenomenon would occur, and a child would be born. He had a master-disciple relationship with me, and we were also like brothers. Moreover, this child was born as a deity."

"Impossible! A Nascent Soul cultivator!" The man was completely dumbfounded. He knew that the Nascent Soul stage was already among the top experts on this continent. To be born a Nascent Soul cultivator—that was incredible!

"Haven't you noticed yet?" Venerable Lieyang chuckled, flicking his finger and sending a golden light into the man's eyes.

At this moment, Shu Lan in the man's eyes completely changed. He exuded immense pressure, and divine light flowed around him.

The man was utterly shocked, and his body began to tremble.

"Would you be willing to let Shu Lan join my Star River Sect and become my Fiery Sun Venerable's junior brother?"

"Yes, yes! Of course I'm willing!" You must know, the Star River Sect is one of the four top sects. With the Star River Sect's protection, the Shu family can be said to have soared to great heights.

"I, Shu Pengfei, am willing to let my son, Shu Lan, join the Star River Sect." Shu Pengfei agreed with great excitement.

"Your Excellency, I have a matter I cannot discuss." After a while, Shu Pengfei calmed down and thought of a difficult situation.

"What is it?"

"Could I have my son stay with us for a while? He was just born, and I want to spend more time with him as a father."

"This..." Venerable Lieyang hesitated for a moment. "Alright! When Shu Lan turns twelve, have him bring this to the Star River Sect." Venerable Lieyang handed a token to Shu Pengfei.

Afterwards, Venerable Lieyang took his leave.

Time flies. Year after year has passed, and Shu Lan has grown from a babbling toddler into a handsome young man.

Today is Shulan's twelfth birthday. The servants are frantically searching the mansion for their young master.

"Young master, young master, where are you, young master?" Maid Baihe followed the trail to the back garden.

"I'm here!"

Bai He looked up and saw a figure sitting on the large magnolia tree.

He possessed a smooth, fair face with sharply defined features and a cold, handsome appearance; his dark, expressive eyes shone with a captivating luster; his sword-like eyebrows slanted downwards, blending into the few strands of black hair at his temples. His high, straight nose and exquisitely shaped lips exuded nobility and elegance. A touch of bluish-green magnolia between his brows added a touch of mystery to his entire being.

Bai He was stunned. Their young master was so handsome. And he was only twelve years old. What a magnificent young master he would be when he grew up!

Shu Lan leaned against the tree trunk, a blade of grass between her teeth, looking incredibly relaxed and content.

"Young Master, today is your birthday banquet. Master and Madam are getting impatient. Please hurry up and go!"

"Okay! I know. Coming right now." Shu Lan jumped down from the magnolia tree and hurried into the house.

Today, many people came to congratulate Shu Lan on her birthday. Upon seeing Shu Lan, they all showered her with praise, calling her a prodigy, exceptionally gifted, and a worthy son of a great father… their compliments were endless.

Shu Lan had no choice but to bite the bullet and chew the delicious food without tasting it, while listening to their praise. It was pure torture.

"What kind of human suffering is this?" Shu Lan sighed inwardly. Whenever this happened, Shu Lan began to miss her life in her previous world. Back then, there were only four people in her family: her father, mother, herself, and her younger brother. Birthdays were simply celebrated by the family, without the need to invite so many people to join in the festivities.

Speaking of her family, Shu Lan felt a little downcast. "Fortunately, I'm not the only son in the family. I just hope my younger brother can take good care of our parents and not be too saddened by my passing," Shu Lan murmured to herself.

I just hope that unreliable book god can find a way to send him back to his former world as soon as possible.

Amidst the clinking of glasses and the swaying of wine, the sun gradually set in the west, and before they knew it, dusk had fallen. The guests finally departed, satisfied, and the Shu residence finally quieted down.

"Finally, some peace and quiet." Shu Lan slumped onto the table, utterly exhausted.

A little while later, his parents called him over again. They gave him a spirit sword as a birthday present. They also gave him instructions, such as how he should be more sensible now that he's a year older, and that he's a little adult now and can't be as naughty as before...

"Father, Mother, I'm a Nascent Soul cultivator. Don't I have any dignity?" Shu Lan silently complained in her heart, but on the surface she listened obediently and nodded from time to time.

"By the way, it's late autumn now. The Star River Sect will be opening its doors to recruit disciples next spring, and you'll be twelve years old then. You can go with the others. It'll only be a few months, so you can use this time to prepare."

"Oh, I see." It means becoming the junior brother of Venerable Lieyang, the grand-uncle of all those people your age. Just thinking about it is awesome! Hearing those people your age, and even those older than you, call you 'ancestor'—it's so satisfying! Shu Lan felt a surge of joy.

As night fell, everyone in the Shu residence fell asleep.
