Chapter 103 The Price

Buying clothes and toys for little kids is easy and difficult at the same time.

It's easy to say, just buy whatever the child likes; the difficulty lies in Li Xi not knowing whether something is good or bad. For example, clothes come in many different fabrics, so which material is most comfortable for a close-fitting garment? And what material should be chosen for a coat? Should it be attractive, stain-resistant, or durable?

The same goes for toys. Some toys children like may not be suitable for their age group or suitable for playing alone. Some toy manufacturers make poor quality toys, and excessive exposure to them may be harmful to children.

Although Li Xi had done some research beforehand, she still felt she'd be at a loss as to where to start when she got to the mall. So before leaving, she asked Aunt Lin to join her. Regardless of how much experience Aunt Lin had, having another person to draw on was always helpful.

Before crossing over, Li Xi rarely went shopping, and even when she did, it was mostly to eat. Don't ask why she didn't shop; the answer is, she was poor. After crossing over, Li Xi rarely went out either.

First, she didn't need to buy much. When she first crossed over, Li Xi wasn't familiar with them, and she even used Luo Jingxuan's card to go shopping at the mall. Later, after her relationship with Luo Jingxuan improved, and most importantly, her relationship with Assistant Jiang improved, she basically let Assistant Jiang arrange her food, clothing, housing, and transportation.

Of course, Assistant Jiang didn't meticulously arrange everything. For example, regarding clothing, he simply instructed the group's clothing brands and those that collaborated with Luo's to pack up the latest collections and deliver them to Li Xi's doorstep at the beginning of each month for her to choose from. This solved Li Xi's daily wardrobe problem. For formal wear, things were even easier. Assistant Jiang had long ago given Li Xi a punch card; whenever she needed something, she could simply pick one and add it to her bill. However, Li Xi's most frequented shop was Tang Tang's. The clothes were nice, and she was familiar with the people, so she didn't bother to move.

Second, Li Xi is lazy and doesn't want to squeeze in crowds. Unlike the original Li Xi, she doesn't need to relieve her boredom by shopping. Malls don't really hold much appeal for her. Before her time travel, she'd been drawn in by the aroma of food there. Now, Aunt Lin's cooking is delicious, but if she occasionally tires of it, she can order takeout from big hotels or private chefs; the quality and flavor are far superior to what you'd find at the mall.

Why go out when you can enjoy it at home? Besides, we have enough money now. Even if we crave the taste of restaurants in the mall, we can spend a little money and ask someone to cook for us at home. So, unless it is necessary, Li Xi rarely goes to the mall.

This time, she took her little brat to the mall, and she was excited for the first time in a long time. Of course, it was not for shopping or eating, but for the children's playground!

God knows how much Li Xi envied those parents who played with their children on the amusement facilities in the mall when she went shopping in the past. It wasn't that she envied them for being able to play on the amusement facilities, but that she envied them for being able to play with their children in public.

Do you understand this feeling? It's just like an adult going to McDonald's and ordering a children's meal. Doing childish things in public and openly is a special experience for adults, the kind that's addictive.

Li Xi used to go to the mall with friends. As adults, they didn't have the courage to compete with a bunch of kids for rides. (Although she hadn't tried it, Li Xi felt that if she was a little thicker-skinned, even an adult could get in with the staff if they had enough money.) But today! She brought little Jingchu along, and she had a perfectly legitimate reason to go.

The clothes shopping process with Aunt Lin was incredibly quick. When they reached the children's section, Li Xi asked Aunt Lin to evaluate the quality of any clothes she liked, and took the good ones with her. They bought a ton of clothes, both form-fitting and casual, and handed them all over to Yu Sui.

While Yu Sui put the clothes in the car, Li Xi took Aunt Lin and Jing Chu to the toy section to choose a lot of toys. This time, Aunt Lin's experience didn't play a big role. After all, children's toys are changing with each passing day, and Aunt Lin didn't know much about it.

Li Xi first let Jingchu choose on her own while she consulted a salesperson. She then handed over any toys she found appealing, planning to check out together after they finished their selections. After Jingchu finished, Li Xi didn't ask the salesperson for recommendations. She randomly chose a child about Jingchu's age and followed the mother and child. She copied whatever they chose and put it in her shopping cart. She then consulted the salesperson again, and when she felt they were suitable, she made her purchase.

In this way, he followed the three children until people started looking at Li Xi and the other two as if they were lunatics before he stopped.

Aunt Lin always treated Li Xi as a child, so she let her act up without saying anything. She just smiled and stayed by her side. When others looked at her strangely, she smiled and nodded at them, hoping that they would forgive her.

Jing Chu was a little embarrassed at first. He'd been taught to be a gentleman, so aside from a few moments of childish behavior around close friends, he'd always been well-behaved, sensible, and polite. He felt a bit embarrassed to be following someone else and picking things out like them. But seeing Li Xi's excitement, he didn't want to spoil her spirits.

As he followed more often, Jingchu began to find the fun in it. Different peers had different standards for choosing toys, and different parents treated their children differently. Jingchu watched quietly, realizing that even in a small toy store, one could see all sorts of human life. This had a profound impact on his young mind, demonstrating that humans are truly complex creatures.

Li Xi didn't notice Jingchu's inner shock at all. At this moment, she was immersed in the ocean of toys and couldn't extricate herself. Although she would be very tired every time she played with little Jingchu, she had to admit that she had a lot of fun every time.
