Li Xi didn't hesitate. She smiled and said hello to Lin Yuanyuan, standing up to leave. On the way, she called Yu Sui. Although Li Xi hadn't specified when the dinner would end, for her safety, the bodyguards and Yu Sui were on standby. So, Yu Sui was waiting nearby for Li Xi. The bodyguards had also just sneaked into the banquet hall, and would follow Li Xi as soon as she left.
Back in the car, Li Xi first sent Yu Sui and the bodyguard out. He changed out of his formal suit and back into his casual clothes in the car before inviting everyone to get in the car and go home.
When he got home, Jingchu had already finished his meal and was playing with building blocks in the play area that Lixi had specially set aside for him. Seeing Lixi coming back, Jingchu immediately dropped the building blocks and ran to the door barefoot, hugging Lixi's thighs.
"Sister, you're back~"
Li Xi patted the dog's head (not really) and smiled gently, "You're back. Have you eaten yet?"
"Eat, Auntie Lin cooked me steak, pumpkin porridge and buns."
"What kind of combination is this? A combination of Chinese and Western? Breakfast and dinner?"
"Hehe, this is what I want to eat." Jing Chu looked at Li Xi and laughed happily.
Li Xi rubbed Jingchu's head again, "Little Jingchu is full, but I'm still hungry. You play with the building blocks first. I'll go find something to eat and then play with you."
"Okay." Jing Chu pouted, wanting to act like a spoiled child, but then decided against it. Reluctantly, she let go of Li Xi's thigh and walked towards the game area, looking back every few steps. "Then hurry up, sister."
"Okay." Li Xi smiled and nodded, then walked towards the kitchen without looking back, calling Aunt Lin as she walked. Aunt Lin was still in the kitchen preparing breakfast for the next day, and she answered Li Xi's call.
When Li Xi wanted to eat, Aunt Lin put down the work in her hands and turned to prepare food for Li Xi. Since Li Xi was quite hungry, she prepared some quick dishes, including a fried steak, a portion of creamy pasta, and the buns that Jing Chu had left over (Aunt Lin originally planned to eat them herself tomorrow morning).
While waiting for dinner, Li Xi started texting Su Yuan about eating melons. Li Xi was not interested, but Su Yuan was very excited, typing a lot of words and adding a lot of emojis.
Li Xi read through the list one by one, finally understanding the reason for Su Yuan's excitement. It turned out that after the banquet began, Lin Yuanyuan had taken the lead, spinning the turntable whenever Zhang Dezong reached for food, leaving him empty-handed every time. In between spins, starting with Ms. Lin, each woman shared her own emotional entanglements with her ex-husband, bringing up Zhang Dezong's past and slamming him for what he had done.
Zhang Dezong's face flushed and paled at this. Furthermore, he hadn't gotten his food, and he couldn't get angry, so he was in a state of low spirits. His taunters were only getting more aggressive. His current sponsor didn't join in the conversation, nor did he offer any protection, simply watching from the sidelines. The others teased him even more vigorously.
Su Yuan, perhaps unwilling to be lonely, took advantage of the ladies' break and, as a male companion, asked Zhang Dezong a soul-searching question. "Doesn't it feel empty to maintain close relationships with so many people at the same time? Can you always soar to great heights?"
The words were a bit adult, not suitable for a child like Lin Yuanyuan. Li Xi, an older single woman, blushed a little when she saw them. But no one at the table scolded him for not being able to speak. Instead, they all looked at Zhang Dezong, anticipating his response.
Zhang Dezong's face darkened. He narrowed his eyes and glared at Su Yuan, then said something to his current sponsor. After receiving a nod from the sponsor, he stood up and left, probably heading to the bathroom.
Su Yuan made a "tsk" sound and muttered that he couldn't afford to play with it. He turned around and apologized to the beauties with a smile, saying that he was just curious and didn't consider that the sisters and children were there. He was so sorry.
The others just laughed it off.
Li Xi: "..." As expected of a playboy, dirty heart, dirty lungs, dirty words (╬▔皿▔)凸
After replying to Su Yuan with a "hehe", Li Xi turned her attention back to the food. Aunt Lin's cooking is just delicious, hehe.
Should I keep Aunt Lin here to cook the New Year's Eve dinner, or let her go home to celebrate the New Year with her family?
