Li Youran, along with a group of noble ladies, waited in the hall to watch the excitement, but even though the auspicious time had arrived, the bride was nowhere to be seen.
"Newcomer here!"
Just then, the voice of the wedding steward rang out from outside the door.
Although there were many guests attending the banquet, very few people braved the rain to go out and watch the excitement. Most people stayed in the corridors and halls, waiting for the bride to come in.
"Don't let Hu Qinqin's usual domineering demeanor fool you; today she looks like a drowned rat. If you didn't know better, you'd think she was on her way to the execution ground."
Zhou Caidie whispered in Li Youran's ear.
Li Youran smiled but didn't say anything. She looked at Hu Qin, who was being helped over by a servant.
Hu Qinqin was completely soaked, as if she had been pulled out of a lake.
Needless to say, the two maids beside him were soaking wet, and even their rouge was smudged, making them look both comical and funny.
"Why is there only the bride, but no groom?"
"Where did the Fourth Prince go? This is such a joyous day, it's really bad luck."
Hu Qinqin finally arrived, but the Fourth Prince was nowhere to be seen. Hu Qinqin was being supported by two maids and stood straight outside the Fourth Prince's residence.
After an unknown amount of time, the steward hurriedly went over to call the two old women and helped Hu Qinqin step over the brazier.
It was called a fire basin, but the fire had long since gone out because of the heavy rain, so stepping over it was just a formality.
The crowd had been buzzing with discussion, but after Hu Qinqin entered the Fourth Prince's residence, they fell silent and quietly looked towards the end of the corridor, where the Fourth Prince was walking towards Hu Qinqin at a leisurely pace.
"The newlyweds have arrived; please pay your respects."
The head butler shouted loudly, and the guests who had been watching the commotion stood aside and made way for him.
