“I see that the jade pendant hanging around the child’s neck looks to be of excellent quality. It might be a keepsake that His Highness the Third Prince left for his mother.”
As Li Youran spoke, she glanced at the sleeping child and continued.
"Don't let his quiet demeanor fool you, he's incredibly stubborn. I spent the whole day asking him about the origin of this jade pendant, but he wouldn't tell me a thing."
Upon hearing this, the Second Prince took the candle from the maid beside him, wanting to illuminate the jade pendant more clearly.
But before the Second Prince could even get close to the jade pendant, the child woke up. His first reaction was to snatch the jade pendant back from the Second Prince. Then, he crouched down in a corner in a defensive posture, looking at Li Youran and his group with a wary expression.
“Ajiu, don’t be afraid. These are my sister and brother-in-law. They are both prominent figures in the capital. Perhaps they can help you find your father.”
"I'm not here to find my father, I'm here for revenge."
Before Li Youran could finish speaking, Ajiu interrupted.
As he spoke, he glared angrily at Li Youran. He had told her countless times throughout the day that he was there to find his enemy, but this woman insisted that he was there to find his father.
If it weren't for the fact that he had given her food and clothes, Ah Jiu really wouldn't want to pay any attention to this woman.
"Seeking revenge? Your hometown is far away in Suzhou, so how could you possibly have enemies in the capital?"
The Second Prince looked at Ajiu with a questioning tone, as if he were lying.
Ajiu, unconvinced, grabbed the jade pendant around her neck and said solemnly.
“I, Ajiu, have never told a lie since I was a child. I have come to the capital to seek revenge. The owner of this jade pendant is the enemy I am looking for.”
Seeing this, Li Youran knew that the Second Prince had deliberately angered Ajiu. Seeing that Ajiu had fallen for the trap, Li Youran immediately asked further questions.
"Even if you're here for revenge, the capital is so big, with so many people. How can you find your enemy with just this jade pendant?"
As Li Youran spoke, he shrugged his shoulders and continued.
"Besides, this isn't a good thing. Your enemy won't just come out and say, 'I'm your enemy, come and kill me.'"
Upon hearing Li Youran's words, Ajiu, like a wilted eggplant, sat half-upright on the bed, lowered his head, and remained silent.
Seeing this, the Second Prince's wife felt a pang of heartache. The child was only twelve or thirteen years old, yet he had traveled so far alone from Suzhou to the capital. It was truly not easy for him.
"Ah Jiu, don't worry, we will help you find your enemy."
The pregnant Second Prince's wife couldn't bear to see such a scene. Overwhelmed by maternal love, she grabbed A-Jiu's hand and continued speaking to her.
"Don't worry, you can stay with me temporarily until you find your enemy."
Despite his feigned strength, Ajiu couldn't hold back his emotions after hearing the Second Prince's wife's words. He cried silently, tears streaming down his face like a broken string of pearls.
"A-Jiu, may we take a look at your jade pendant?"
Ajiu lowered all her guard in front of the Second Prince's wife and obediently took the jade pendant off her neck and handed it to the Second Prince's wife.
Seeing this, Li Youran couldn't help but feel jealous. She thought to herself, "What a heartless person! I personally chose the clothes and accompanied her, but even after coaxing her all day, Ajiu refused to take the jade pendant off her neck. Even when I looked at the jade pendant, Ajiu looked wary."
Ah Jiu had only exchanged a few words with the Second Prince's Consort before she took the jade pendant off her neck. Li Youran grumbled inwardly, thinking that Ah Jiu was being incredibly unfair.
"This jade pendant is of excellent quality. Perhaps your enemy is a powerful and wealthy person. This matter is a bit troublesome."
The Second Prince was certain at first glance that the jade pendant belonged to the Third Prince.
Because these jade pendants were given to the brothers by their father when they were young. Although they look different, they are similar, as they are all jade pendants of the same specifications.
However, the Second Prince did not directly reveal who Ajiu's enemy was.
Even so, when Ajiu heard the Second Prince's words, his eyes lit up, and he looked at the Second Prince with excitement.

Ah Jiu looked at the Second Prince with great excitement; he had been waiting for this day for far too long.
Before she died, his mother only told him that his father was a heartless man who abandoned them and even tried to kill her to silence her, causing his mother and himself to die while still in her womb. Fortunately, his mother was lucky and was rescued, and secretly raised him.
Ajiu didn't know who his father was, but he had heard his mother mention that his father was a member of the royal family from the capital.

As the Second Prince spoke, he continued, keeping everyone in suspense.
"But you have to tell me first what grudge you have against this person, otherwise how can I help you with this?"
Hearing the Second Prince's words, Ajiu wavered, unsure whether to tell the truth.
But then I thought, if he were to search alone, who knows how long it would take him to find that person.
"This person once tried to kill my mother and me when I was still in her womb, but fortunately my mother was saved by someone."
