He knew that now was not the time to worry about these things; the most urgent task was to bring the resources back as soon as possible, otherwise, everyone would be doomed.
He ignored the doubts and insults and turned to walk towards the cave.
"Ning Yu, where are you going?" Mu Xue caught up and asked worriedly.
"I'll go and bring the resources back," Ning Yu said without turning his head.
"But your body..."
"Don't worry about me," Ning Yu interrupted her. "I can manage."
After he finished speaking, he walked into the cave without looking back.
Watching Ning Yu's disappearing figure, Mu Xue's heart was filled with worry and unease. She knew that Ning Yu was very weak, but he still had to face those dangers alone, and she hated herself for not being able to share his burden.
"Ning Yu..." she murmured softly, but could only watch helplessly as he left.
Ning Yu dragged his exhausted body step by step toward the resource reserve. Breaking the restriction had depleted his supernatural abilities, and his current physical condition was even weaker than that of an ordinary person.
But he didn't stop. He had only one belief in his heart: to bring the resources back!
However, just as he was about to reach his destination, several figures suddenly appeared in front of him and blocked his way.
"What are you trying to do?" Ning Yu looked at the group of people in front of him warily. They were the same people who had questioned him and wanted to re-elect a leader.
“We can’t let you take this risk!” one of them said. “In your current state, you’re simply incapable of activating the restriction; you’ll only be throwing your life away!”
"Get out of the way!" Ning Yu said coldly. "That's an order!"
“We no longer acknowledge you as our leader!” another said. “You have no right to command us!”
"Then don't blame me for being impolite!" Ning Yu knew that reasoning with these people wouldn't work, so he could only force his way through.
He mustered the last bit of his supernatural power and suddenly charged forward...
"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue's anxious shouts came from behind, but he couldn't hear them anymore. All he could see was the gate leading to the resource reserve... Ning Yu mustered all his strength and pushed through the crowd of people blocking his way. He staggered a few steps, grabbed the wall for support, and his vision blurred. But he had no time to rest. He gritted his teeth, forced himself to steady himself, and walked towards the gate of the resource reserve.
The barrier on the gate emitted a faint blue light. Ning Yu took a deep breath and pressed his palm against it. As the last of his supernatural power surged forth, the barrier hummed, its blue light flickering before slowly dissipating.
The door opened.
The resource reserve was filled with all kinds of supplies: food, water, medicine, weapons... Ning Yu endured his physical exhaustion and carried these supplies out of the cave bit by bit, piling them up into a small mountain.
"Ning Yu, how are you?" Mu Xue rushed over anxiously and supported his swaying body.
"I'm fine, quick... quick, move all this back." Ning Yu gasped for breath, but a relieved smile appeared on his face. He knew that with these resources, they could weather this crisis.
However, when they returned to their new territory with the joy of a bountiful harvest, the scene before them plunged them into an icy abyss.
The once simple yet hopeful new territory was now surrounded by a group of people dressed in black uniforms. Each of them had a fierce look on their face and was holding weapons. The leader was none other than Zhao Kui, the number two figure in the old forces.
Those team members who had once questioned and opposed him now stood trembling before Zhao Kui, their faces filled with fear and unease.
"What happened?" Mu Xue asked in a low voice, her tone filled with disbelief.
Ning Yu didn't speak. He put the supplies in his hand on the ground, and his gaze slowly swept over the team members before finally landing on Zhao Kui.
"Ning Yu, long time no see." Zhao Kui looked at him with a forced smile. "Looks like you're not doing too well. You've actually fallen so low as to have to resort to such means to obtain resources."
"What do you want?" Ning Yu asked coldly. He knew that Zhao Kui's appearance here was definitely not for reminiscing.
“A wise person knows when to yield. You should understand that joining us now is the only way out.” Zhao Kui said, turning his gaze to the team members, “What about you? Will you choose to continue following him to your deaths, or…”
Zhao Kui didn't finish his sentence, but the threat in his words was unmistakable. The team members exchanged glances, their eyes filled with struggle and hesitation. Finally, a few of them slowly lowered their weapons…
"You..." Mu Xue was so angry that she trembled all over, but before she could say anything, Ning Yu grabbed her hand.
“I gave you a chance,” Ning Yu’s voice was eerily calm as he glanced at the team members who had laid down their weapons. “Now, you can leave.”
The team members were stunned for a moment, seemingly not expecting Ning Yu to let them leave so easily. They looked at Ning Yu, then at Zhao Kui, and finally, with their heads down, silently walked behind Zhao Kui.
“Very good, a wise man submits to circumstances.” Zhao Kui smiled with satisfaction. He turned to Ning Yu, “Well? Have you thought it through? Surrender now, and I might still…”
"I'd rather die!" Ning Yu interrupted him abruptly, her eyes flashing with a resolute light.
"Very well, since you won't listen to reason, then don't blame me for being impolite!" Zhao Kui's expression changed, and he shouted sharply, "Attack! Kill the men, and the women..."
"Who dares to touch him!" A crisp voice suddenly rang out, and everyone looked in the direction of the sound, only to see...
