Zhao Kun was jolted awake from his sleep, only to be met with a pair of cold, merciless eyes. Before he could react, a strong hand gripped his throat and lifted him up.
"You..." Zhao Kun tried to say something with difficulty, but could only make a "ho ho" sound.
"It's over, Zhao Kun." Ning Yu's eyes showed no pity as he gradually increased the pressure on his hand.
"Cough cough...you...can't kill me..." Zhao Kun's face turned red, his survival instinct made him struggle desperately, but to no avail.
"Why can't I?" Ning Yu's lips curled into a cold smile.
“I know… a secret…” Zhao Kun managed to utter a few words, “a secret about… the old era…”
Ning Yu paused slightly, a hint of interest flashing in his eyes: "Tell me about it."
As if grasping at a straw, Zhao Kun hurriedly said, "I know a place...where there are...a large amount of supplies and...technical data..."
Ning Yu didn't completely believe Zhao Kun's words, but his intuition told him that this secret might be very important. He released his grip, and Zhao Kun immediately collapsed to the ground, panting heavily.
"Take me there," Ning Yu said coldly.
The battle inside the "Black Claw" base is nearing its end. Mu Xue's team has swept through the enemy lines and wiped out all the remaining enemies.
"Reporting to the leader, the 'Black Talon' base has been completely captured!" a soldier ran over to report.
"Very good. Take stock of the casualties and tally the captured supplies and equipment," Ning Yu ordered.
"Yes, sir!" The soldier accepted the order and left.
Ning Yu's gaze swept over the ravaged Black Claw base, his heart unmoved. He knew this was merely a small episode on his path to rise, and greater challenges awaited him in the future.
“Let’s go, take me to see the place you mentioned,” Ning Yu said to Zhao Kun.
A cunning glint flashed in Zhao Kun's eyes. He slowly stood up and led Ning Yu deeper into the base… Zhao Kun walked ahead with faltering steps, glancing back at Ning Yu every now and then, a flash of ruthlessness in his eyes. Ning Yu took in all his subtle movements, but remained unmoved, only subtly tightening his grip on his Tang sword. He knew that the "secret" Zhao Kun spoke of was far from simple, but he was not afraid.
After walking along a deep underground passage for about half an hour, the view suddenly opened up before us. It was a huge underground space, with various instruments and equipment flashing cold lights, and a faint musty smell permeating the air, indicating that no one had been here for a long time.
“This is it,” Zhao Kun said, pointing ahead. “This place preserves a large amount of technological data from the old era and some rare resources. Only I know about this place.”
Ning Yu didn't speak, but walked straight to a computer and turned it on. The screen flickered a few times, displaying an old-fashioned interface. Ning Yu's fingers flew across the keyboard, quickly cracking the password and gaining access to the database.
A deluge of information flooded Ning Yu's mind, leaving him utterly astonished. It contained not only cutting-edge technological data on weapons manufacturing, energy development, and bio-genetics, but also valuable records of the history and culture of the old era.
"It seems you weren't lying to me." Ning Yu's tone revealed a hint of excitement; this information was undoubtedly a huge treasure to him.
"Of course, I swear on my life," Zhao Kun said with a forced smile. "Now, can you let me go?"
Ning Yu turned around, staring coldly at Zhao Kun: "Do you think I would believe the words of a traitor?"
Zhao Kun's expression changed, and before he could react, Ning Yu's Tang sword was already drawn. A flash of cold light appeared, and Zhao Kun's head flew high into the air, blood gushing out.
Meanwhile, at the "Black Claw" base, Mu Xue was busy directing everyone to inventory supplies and settle newly recruited members. However, some former "Black Claw" members were not used to the new environment and rules, and began to feel dissatisfied, even leading to small-scale conflicts.
"What happened?" Mu Xue asked coldly, determined not to allow anyone to ruin the hard-won victory.
“Reporting to Sister Mu, they…” a soldier in charge of managing the new members stammered, “They want…”
"What do you want?" Mu Xue asked sternly, emanating an invisible pressure.
The soldier took a deep breath and mustered his courage to say, "They want to see the leader, they said..."
"say what?"
“They said…” the soldier’s voice trailed off, “They said only the leader can lead them…”
Mu Xue's face darkened, and a cold glint flashed in her eyes: "It seems that some people still don't understand who calls the shots in the current 'order'!" She snatched the rifle from the soldier next to her, pulled back the bolt, pointed it at the sky, and with a "bang," the gunshot echoed throughout the base.
"Listen up, everyone!" Mu Xue's voice rang out through the loudspeaker. "Now, I don't want to hear any more dissent. Anyone who disobeys orders will be killed without mercy!"
The base fell silent. Everyone waited, waiting for Ning Yu's return...
When Ning Yu returned to the base, it was dusk. The afterglow of the setting sun shone on the ravaged land, highlighting the busy scene at the base, as if foreshadowing the dawn of hope.
As soon as Ning Yu stepped into the base, he sensed an unusual atmosphere. The base was orderly, with each member performing their duties, and everyone's face was filled with excitement and hope, a stark contrast to the lifeless atmosphere of the "Black Claw" members earlier.
