The conference room was completely silent; you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was stunned by Ning Yu's sudden decision. They looked at each other, but no one dared to break the silence.
"Are you crazy?" Mu Xue suddenly stood up, her tone filled with worry and disbelief. "'Steel Fang's' target is you. If you go to the front line now, what's the difference between that and sending yourself to your death?"
Ning Yu looked at Mu Xue, his eyes showing no hesitation, only unwavering determination. "I know what you're worried about, but there are some things I must do myself." He glanced around, his tone steady and powerful. "'Steel Fang' chose to attack at this time to take advantage of our internal instability and crush us in one fell swoop. If we panic now, we'll be falling right into their trap!"
"But……"
"No buts!" Ning Yu interrupted her again. "Believe me, I will definitely come back safely!"
He didn't give anyone else a chance to dissuade him, and turned around and strode out of the conference room.
Three days later, Ning Yu appeared in a small town less than fifty kilometers from the border. The once bustling streets of the town were now desolate and ravaged, with traces of battle visible everywhere. The air was filled with the nauseating smell of gunpowder and blood.
Ning Yu was dressed in a black combat uniform, his face painted with camouflage paint. If you didn't know him well, it would be hard to associate him with the strategist he was known for. He walked alone on the empty street, his sharp eyes constantly scanning his surroundings, alert to any potential dangers.
“The ‘Steel Teeth’ gang is going too far; they’re even targeting small towns like this.” A deep voice came from behind him.
Ning Yu turned around and saw a tall figure emerge from the shadows.
"Li Qiang, what brings you here?" Ning Yu looked at the burly man in front of him with some surprise. He was one of his most trusted subordinates, responsible for the defense of headquarters. Logically, he should be staying at headquarters now.
“Chief, I am acting on Miss Mu Xue’s orders to secretly protect your safety,” Li Qiang replied in a deep voice. “She said that she is really worried about you always disregarding your own safety.”
Ning Yu shook his head helplessly. He knew that his decision was too risky, but he had a strong premonition that he had to come to the front line in person. Only in this way could he find the key to solving the problem.
"Let's go, let's go take a look ahead." Ning Yu didn't say much and continued walking deeper into the town.
Along the way, they saw more traces of destruction caused by 'Steel Teeth': collapsed houses, dilapidated streets, and places that were once full of laughter and joy were now only deathly silent.
Ning Yu's expression grew increasingly solemn. He released his supernatural power, and an invisible wave rapidly spread out, covering the entire town.
"How long have they stayed here?" Ning Yu suddenly asked.
"Based on my observation, it won't take more than five hours," Li Qiang replied.
“Five hours…” Ning Yu repeated in a low voice, a glint of light flashing in his eyes. “It seems my guess was right. ‘Steel Fang’s’ goal is a quick victory; they don’t really intend to occupy this area…”
Before he could finish speaking, Ning Yu suddenly stopped. He abruptly raised his head and looked towards the north of the town, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
"What's wrong, Chief?" Li Qiang noticed his unusual behavior and immediately asked warily.
“It seems we’ve been targeted…” Ning Yu said coldly, “and the other party isn’t one of ‘Steel Fangs’…”
Ning Yu and Li Qiang didn't linger, quickly turning back to avoid the hostile gaze. Back at headquarters, Ning Yu immediately convened a meeting of all members. The atmosphere in the meeting room was even more tense than before, with anxiety and unease etched on everyone's faces.
Ning Yu walked calmly to the front of the stage, his sharp gaze sweeping across the entire audience, taking in everyone's reactions. He cleared his throat and said in a deep voice, "Besides investigating 'Steel Fang's' movements, I made an even more important discovery during my trip to the front lines—a new force has intervened in this war."
These words immediately caused an uproar in the conference room. Discussing amongst themselves, a sense of fear began to spread through the crowd. The emergence of this new force undoubtedly added even more uncertainty to an already precarious situation.
Ning Yu ignored the commotion and continued, "I have briefly clashed with this new force. Their strength should not be underestimated, but they are not invincible." He paused, his tone firm, "We need not panic, and we must not lose our composure."
He elaborated on his analysis and speculations about the new power, and presented the intelligence he had gathered. He pointed out that although the new power was strong, their goal did not seem to be occupation, but rather to gain benefits from the chaos.
"Therefore, I believe our primary task now is to unite and face external threats together!" Ning Yu raised his voice, his gaze fixed intently on the crowd. "The threat of 'Steel Fang' has not been eliminated, and new forces are eyeing us covetously. We cannot afford to continue our internal strife!"
He glanced around, his tone softening, and proposed a compromise: "I suggest we first make contact with the new forces to probe their strengths and weaknesses, while simultaneously strengthening our defenses to prevent 'Steel Fang' from taking advantage of any openings. As for internal conflicts..."
Ning Yu paused for a moment, his gaze falling on the core members who had previously opposed him. "I hope everyone can prioritize the overall situation, put aside their differences for now, and work together to overcome this difficult time. We can deal with internal issues once the crisis is over."
His gaze was full of sincerity and earnestness, and his tone carried an undeniable authority. Silence fell again in the conference room, but this time it wasn't a deathly stillness, but rather the calm before a storm.
