“This is…” Mu Xue followed Ning Yu’s gaze to the bottomless chasm, puzzled.
"This is our only way out." Ning Yu's tone was firm, his eyes flashing with determination. "These vines are extremely resilient and can be woven into ropes to carry us across the rift."
Time was of the essence, so Ning Yu didn't offer much explanation and immediately urged everyone to get to work. Using the wilderness survival skills he'd received from the system, he began guiding them in cutting vines and weaving ropes. "Quick! Hold on tight to the rope, don't panic!" Ning Yu shouted, his voice echoing through the valley.
No one dared to slacken their efforts; they gripped the ropes tightly, their palms turning white from the strain. The winged bat swooped down, its sharp talons tearing through the air, creating gusts of wind.
"Ah!" One of the team members couldn't dodge in time and was scratched by the winged bat's sharp claws, his clothes stained with blood. He groaned in pain, lost his balance, and slipped off the rope.
"Grab me!" Ning Yu reacted quickly, immediately using his supernatural ability to conjure a vine that accurately wrapped around the team member's waist and pulled him back.
"Thank...thank you, boss..." the team member said, his voice trembling with shock.
"Watch out!" Mu Xue's voice came from the side.
Ning Yu looked up and saw a winged bat swooping down on him, its gaping maw revealing sharp fangs. Ning Yu had no time to dodge and could only watch helplessly as the bat pounced on him…
At the critical moment, a figure stood in front of Ning Yu.
"Mu Xue!" Ning Yu was shocked, but it was too late to stop her.
Mu Xue moved with lightning speed. Instead of retreating, she advanced, leaping up to meet the swooping winged bat. A flash of cold light appeared in her hand as a sharp dagger sliced through the air, precisely piercing the bat's eye.
"Squeak—" The winged bat let out a shrill scream as its massive body crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Great!" The team members were greatly encouraged and cheered loudly.
Mu Xue landed steadily, wiped the blood from her face, and coldly glanced at the swarm of winged bats circling in the air. She said in a deep voice, "Don't panic, everyone. Although there are many of them, we have the advantage of terrain. As long as we hold out until everyone safely crosses the rift, we can get rid of them!"
Having said that, she launched the first attack, her figure moving like a ghost among the winged bats, the dagger in her hand turning into streaks of cold light, each strike taking the life of a winged bat.
Encouraged, the team members drew their weapons and fought back fiercely. Gunshots, clashing swords, and the screeching of winged bats mingled together, making for an exceptionally intense battle.
Ning Yu's eyes were bloodshot with rage. He suppressed the urge to rush forward, knowing that he had to lead the remaining people across the ravine as quickly as possible.
"Hurry! Speed things up!" Ning Yu urged loudly, while also keeping an eye on the battle on Mu Xue's side.
Time passed second by second. Under Mu Xue's leadership, the team fought bravely and finally withstood the winged bats' attack, successfully covering the last group of team members as they safely crossed the rift valley.
"Go!" Ning Yu made a decisive move, cutting the ropes connecting the two sides and leading everyone to quickly retreat.
The group ran wildly until they were far away from the rift valley before daring to stop and catch their breath.
"Where's Sister Xue?" someone asked anxiously when they noticed that Mu Xue hadn't followed.
“She will cover our retreat!” Ning Yu said in a deep voice, his eyes filled with worry.
"No, we can't abandon Sister Xue!"
"Yes, we have to go back and save her!"
The team members were filled with excitement and volunteered to go back and rescue Mu Xue.
Ning Yu raised his hand to signal everyone to be quiet. He took a deep breath and said, "I know everyone is worried about Sister Xue, but going back now would be tantamount to suicide. We must believe in her; she will definitely come back safely!"
