"Cough cough..." Ning Yu coughed up a mouthful of blood, the intense pain causing his vision to blur. He gripped the compressed biscuit tightly, his knuckles turning bluish-white from the excessive force.
"Still so stubborn!" Seeing that Ning Yu wouldn't let go, A-Qiang angrily punched him in the stomach.
Ning Yu groaned, his stomach churning, but he still didn't let go. His eyes red, he glared at A-Qiang and said, word by word, "Don't even think about it!"
"You're asking for it!" Enraged by Ning Yu's gaze, A-Qiang straddled Ning Yu and began punching and kicking him in the face.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
One, two, three...
Ning Yu's face was quickly bruised and swollen, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. His consciousness began to blur, but he still clutched the compressed biscuits tightly, as if they were his last hope.
The mutated rats around him squeaked excitedly, staring greedily at Ning Yu as if anticipating a feast.
Just then, Ning Yu's gaze inadvertently swept over the ruins beside him, and he discovered a narrow gap, just big enough for one person to pass through.
“Hope…” A glimmer of hope ignited in Ning Yu’s heart. He mustered all his strength and pushed A-Qiang hard, then took the opportunity to roll into the crevice.
"Damn it!" Ah Qiang was pushed off balance by Ning Yu. By the time he realized what was happening, Ning Yu had already slipped into the gap. He quickly got up and rushed to the gap, only to find that he couldn't fit in at all.
"Come out! Come out here!" Ah Qiang roared at the crack.
Ning Yu ignored him, leaning against the cold wall, panting heavily. He was injured in many places, and the intense pain made it almost impossible for him to move. But he knew he couldn't give up; he had to live.
He looked around and found that it was a relatively enclosed space with only a narrow passage leading outside. The mutated rats couldn't get in, so it was safe for the time being.
Ning Yu breathed a sigh of relief. He looked down at the compressed biscuits in his hand and gave a bitter smile. The biscuits were stained red with blood, but he still couldn't bear to throw them away.
Just then, his gaze was drawn to something in the corner. It was a small box buried under the rubble, and it looked quite old.
Ning Yu's heart stirred. He struggled to crawl over, used his hands to pry open the rubble, and opened the box.
Inside the box, several vacuum-packed bags lay quietly...
“This is…” Ning Yu’s eyes widened suddenly, and his breathing became rapid.
Inside the box lay several vacuum-packed bags of dehydrated vegetables and dried meat. Although the bags were slightly damaged, the food inside had not spoiled and emitted a faint aroma.
"That's great!" Ning Yu was so excited he almost shouted it out.
This was the first time he had seen food so well-preserved since he transmigrated to this world. Although there were only a few bags, it was enough to last him for a while.
Ning Yu carefully packed the food into her backpack, then looked around the small space again. There were some blurry murals on the walls, seemingly telling some story.
He reached out and touched the mural, and suddenly some images flashed through his mind—memories of this space.
“I see…” Ning Yu’s lips curled up slightly, and a look of understanding flashed in his eyes.
He stood up, dusted himself off, and then turned to look out the crack.
Ah Qiang was still shouting outside, his voice already hoarse.
"Hey! Are you coming out or not?"
Ning Yu ignored him and took out a piece of jerky from her backpack, eating it slowly and deliberately. Although the jerky was a bit dry and hard, it tasted especially delicious because of her hunger.
"Damn it! He still has the appetite to eat!" Ah Qiang was furious when he saw this.
He pounded on the wall with all his might, but to no avail.
After finishing the dried meat, Ning Yu drank a few sips of water, then stood up and walked to the gap.
"What? You've come to your senses? You're planning to hand over the stuff?" A hint of joy flashed in A-Qiang's eyes when he saw Ning Yu appear.
"Things?" Ning Yu asked, feigning confusion. "What things?"
"Stop pretending! That's a compressed biscuit in your hand!" A-Qiang said fiercely.
"Oh, you mean this?" Ning Yu took out the bag of blood-stained compressed biscuits from his backpack and waved it in front of A-Qiang. "You want it?"
"Nonsense! Give it to me now!" Ah Qiang reached out his hand, about to snatch it.
Ning Yu suddenly withdrew his hand and sneered, "Are you worthy?"
After saying that, he threw the compressed biscuits into the darkness behind him.
"You!" Upon seeing this, A-Qiang's eyes widened in fury.
Ning Yu ignored him and turned away from the crevice.
He had an even more important task to do: get back to the temporary shelter.
However, when he returned to the shelter, he found that something was wrong.
The shelter doors were tightly shut, and a group of people were gathered outside, talking loudly about something.
A sense of foreboding rose in Ning Yu's heart. He pushed through the crowd and squeezed in.
"Uncle Sun, what's wrong...?"
"Ning Yu, you're back just in time!" A familiar voice interrupted him. "Now, this shelter is mine!"
