Chapter 133 Deeper into the Perilous Ground, Approaching the Core

Ning Yu's words echoed in the empty cave, lingering for a long time. Looking at Mu Xue's pale face and the exhausted expressions of his team members, his heart ached as if being torn apart. He knew this path was fraught with danger, every step forward potentially costing him his life, but he had no other choice. The threat of the Overlord was like a sharp blade hanging overhead; only by finding it could this crisis be completely resolved, giving everyone a stable future.

“Let’s go. We can’t just sit here and wait to die.” Ning Yu took a deep breath, his tone firm, as if he had made some important decision. He helped Mu Xue up, his gaze sweeping over everyone present, his eyes filled with determination and hope.

The team members helped each other to their feet. Although they were exhausted, Ning Yu's words were like a shot in the arm, rekindling the flame of hope in their hearts. They knew that the man before them was a leader they would follow with their lives.

The group continued forward, the cave becoming increasingly narrow, and the air growing damp and cold. They were on high alert, vigilantly observing their surroundings, afraid of missing any detail.

"Wait!" Ning Yu, who was walking at the front, suddenly stopped. His gaze fell on an invisible barrier not far ahead. The barrier shimmered with a faint light, like an insurmountable chasm blocking their path.

"What is this thing?" a team member asked in confusion, reaching out to touch the barrier, but was bounced back by a powerful force, staggering a few steps before regaining his balance.

Ning Yu remained silent. He took out a crystal-clear blue crystal ball from his pocket, a treasure he had obtained from the system, possessing powerful energy. He gently placed the crystal ball on the barrier, and it immediately emitted a dazzling light, attempting to break through the barrier's obstruction.

However, the barrier's power exceeded his expectations. The crystal ball's light gradually dimmed and eventually went out completely, while the barrier remained intact. What unsettled Ning Yu even more was that fine cracks appeared on the surface of the crystal ball, as if it had suffered some kind of irreversible damage.

A chill ran down Ning Yu's spine. He realized that the trouble they were facing was far more complicated than he had imagined. Just then, he suddenly felt the ground beneath his feet tremble slightly, and a nauseating stench emanated from the depths of the cave, accompanied by a series of chilling hissing sounds…

"Watch out!" Ning Yu whirled around, his expression changing drastically. From the once empty depths of the cave, countless black, slimy creatures surged forth, writhing and emitting a sickening screech as they swept towards the group… The black slimy creatures surged like a tidal wave, carrying a nauseating stench, instantly engulfing the team. They seemed like creatures from a nightmare, without a fixed form, yet possessing extremely strong corrosive properties. The slimy creatures crawled all over the team members' bodies, frantically devouring their clothes and skin, making a sizzling sound that sent chills down their spines.

"Ah!" Heart-wrenching screams echoed through the cave as the team members struggled in agony, unable to escape the entanglement of the slimy creatures. Some of their skin had been corroded, revealing stark white bones, dripping with blood—a gruesome sight.

"Use fire!" Ning Yu shouted, suppressing his fear. He knew that facing these unknown creatures, they had to find their weaknesses as soon as possible, or everyone would perish.

Several team members with fire-based abilities immediately unleashed raging flames, attempting to incinerate the slime creatures. However, while the flames temporarily repelled some of the slime creatures, they couldn't completely eliminate them. These terrifying creatures writhe and tumble in the flames, emitting piercing screams, before quickly gathering together again to continue their attack.

Ning Yu tightly protected the injured Mu Xue, wielding his Tang sword to cut the approaching slime creatures into pieces. However, the slime creatures were too numerous to kill, and his strength gradually waned.

"Ning Yu, this can't go on, we'll be worn down here!" Mu Xue's voice was weak and anxious. She endured the excruciating pain and tried to stand up to help, but Ning Yu held her down tightly.

"No, you're too badly injured. You can't take any more risks!" Ning Yu's tone was firm yet gentle. He shielded Mu Xue behind him, his gaze fixed firmly ahead, his heart filled with anxiety and unease.

Just then, he suddenly sensed a powerful energy fluctuation coming from the rear of the group, and a deep voice rang out: "Let me handle this!"

"Boom!"

With a deafening roar of thunder, a dazzling bolt of lightning cleaved through the darkness from behind the column, like a sharp sword tearing through the viscous blackness. Wherever the lightning struck, the once arrogant slimy creatures let out shrill screams and were instantly vaporized into black smoke.

"It's the power of lightning! They're afraid of lightning!" Ning Yu was overjoyed, seeing a glimmer of hope.

A burly team member stood at the back of the group, his eyes closed and his hands raised high. Bolts of lightning shot from his fingertips, pouring down like a storm onto the slime swarm.

"Wang Meng! You actually possess lightning-based superpowers?!" someone exclaimed.

Wang Meng, usually quiet and unassuming, unexpectedly possessed such a powerful ability. He opened his eyes, his gaze filled with determination and pain. "I couldn't control this power before, but now, for everyone's sake, I must fight with all my might!"

The power of lightning, like the scythe of death, reaped the lives of the slime creatures. They twisted and struggled in the electric light, ultimately vanishing into nothingness. The cave reeked of burning flesh, but no one felt fear anymore, for they saw the hope of victory.
