Ning Yu looked down and his expression immediately changed. The originally gray-black ground had turned dark red, like a red-hot iron, radiating intense heat. A burnt smell filled the air, and the soles of the previous team member's shoes were already smoking, clearly burned.
"My feet! My feet!" Cries of pain echoed through the ranks as team members jumped up and down, trying to escape the scorching "ground".
Mu Xue frowned, and the special combat boots on her feet began to emit blue smoke, a burnt smell filling her nostrils. She cursed under her breath and quickly concentrated her supernatural power on the soles of her feet, forming a thin layer of frost to insulate against the high temperature.
"This won't do, we'll be roasted alive!" one of the team members shouted in a panic.
"Calm down! Maintain formation and try to stand in the cooler areas!" Ning Yu shouted, releasing his supernatural power to try and cool everyone down with the power of ice.
However, the heatwave seemed endless, and Ning Yu's supernatural power was being used up with minimal effect. The temperature beneath everyone's feet rose higher and higher, and many people were already scalded, their screams echoing throughout the air.
"Damn it! What kind of hell is this place!" Ning Yu said through gritted teeth, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead, but he didn't bother to wipe them away.
Mu Xue walked to his side and said in a deep voice, "Something is wrong here. We must find the Overlord as soon as possible and leave this hellish place."
Ning Yu nodded, about to speak, when he suddenly sensed a powerful energy fluctuation coming from ahead. He abruptly raised his head, looking into the depths of the light, his expression becoming extremely solemn.
"Watch out!" He grabbed Mu Xue and pulled her behind him. Almost simultaneously, a dazzling light shot out from the front, illuminating the entire space as if it were daytime...
After the dazzling light subsided, visibility gradually returned. Ning Yu squinted, took in the scene before him, and couldn't help but gasp.
At the end of the once empty passage, a sea of fire had appeared. Piles of fire erupted erratically from the ground, scorching lava flowing between them, turning the entire space a terrifying red. The air was thick with the pungent stench of sulfur and coke, a nauseating smell.
"Damn it, this place is hell!" one of the team members cursed, his voice filled with fear.
Faced with this sudden turn of events, Ning Yu quickly calmed down. He looked around and noticed that although the eruptions of the fire pillars were completely irregular, there were still some narrow gaps between them.
"Don't panic, everyone!" Ning Yu shouted, trying to calm the troops. "There are gaps between the pillars of fire; let's try to squeeze through them!"
"But the temperature is so high, we can't get close at all!" A team member pointed to the red-hot ground beneath his feet, his face filled with despair.
Ning Yu took a deep breath; he knew now was not the time to hesitate. He pushed his supernatural power to its limit, and a powerful surge of icy energy erupted from his body, forming a semi-transparent frost barrier above everyone's heads, attempting to resist the surrounding scorching heat.
"Mu Xue, you take the men and go first, I'll cover the rear!" Ning Yu said without turning his head, his tone firm and unquestionable.
Upon hearing this, a hint of worry flashed in Mu Xue's beautiful eyes, but she knew this was not the time to argue. She gritted her teeth and shouted, "Everyone, follow me!" With that, she rushed towards the gap in the pillars of fire.
Seeing this, the other team members gritted their teeth and followed. They carefully moved between the pillars of fire, the scorching air burning their skin and causing sweat to evaporate instantly. Although the frost barrier blocked most of the heat, everyone could still feel the suffocating heat.
"Ah!" A scream suddenly rang out. A team member was unable to dodge in time and was grazed on the arm by a sudden tongue of fire. His skin was torn open and his flesh was a bloody mess.
Seeing this, Ning Yu's expression darkened. He suddenly swung his right hand, and a beam of ice-blue light shot out, shattering the tongue of fire. However, before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, more pillars of fire rose from the ground, completely blocking their retreat.
"Looks like we're surrounded..." Ning Yu muttered to himself, gazing at the terrifying sea of fire before him, his eyes gradually hardening. He reached for the Tang sword at his waist, a chilling killing intent emanating from him... "Captain, this can't go on!" a team member cried out in pain, clutching his scalded arm, his voice hoarse, "We'll be roasted alive!"
Ning Yu remained silent, his face grim and terrifying. He stared intently at the raging pillars of fire, trying to discern a pattern in their eruptions, but to no avail. These pillars of fire seemed to be controlled by some unseen force, exhibiting no discernible pattern whatsoever.
"Mu Xue, how are things on your end?" Ning Yu asked in a deep voice, his voice tinged with fatigue.
"This is not good," Mu Xue's voice came from ahead, tinged with anxiety, "The temperature here is getting higher and higher, and our superpowers can't hold up for long!"
Ning Yu's heart sank upon hearing this. He knew that if they couldn't find a way out, they would all perish in this sea of fire.
"Damn it, is there really no way out?" A team member slumped to the ground in despair, letting sweat and tears stream down his face.
Seeing the growing despair on his teammates' faces, Ning Yu felt as if an invisible hand was gripping his heart, making it almost impossible for him to breathe. He was unwilling to give up, and he couldn't just abandon his cause like this!
"There must be a way, there must be other ways..." Ning Yu told himself again and again, his eyes frantically searching his surroundings, trying to find a glimmer of hope for survival.
