Chapter 144 Trapped in a Maze, Struggling to Survive

The hall spun faster and faster, and the maze patterns on the walls changed unpredictably, dazzling the eyes. Ning Yu felt a sudden dizziness, her stomach churning, and she almost vomited.

"Hold on!" he shouted, trying to suppress his discomfort. "Try to maintain your balance and don't look at the wall!"

The others were feeling equally unwell; some were pale, and others had begun to vomit. Mu Xue was relatively calmer; she closed her eyes, trying to combat the dizziness.

After an unknown amount of time, the spinning finally stopped. Ning Yu opened his eyes and found that they were still standing in the same place, but the surrounding walls had changed completely.

"Damn it, what kind of place is this?" one of the team members couldn't help but curse.

Mu Xue ignored him and walked to a wall, carefully observing the patterns on it. The patterns on the wall resembled a complex map, covered with various lines and symbols that were puzzling.

"Did you find anything?" Ning Yu asked as he walked over.

Mu Xue shook her head, her brows furrowed: "I don't understand. There's no pattern to these lines and symbols."

"Could it be some kind of script?" another team member guessed.

“It doesn’t look like it.” Ning Yu examined it carefully and rejected the guess. “I have never seen this kind of script before.”

They were trapped in this bizarre maze, unable to find an exit or contact the outside world. Time ticked by, and a shadow fell over everyone's hearts.

"What should we do now?" A team member asked, his voice trembling slightly.

Ning Yu looked around, his gaze resolute: "Let's try to find an exit first."

After saying that, he led the way in one direction, with Mu Xue and the others following closely behind. They carefully searched every corner along the wall, hoping to find some clues.

However, after walking for a long time, they found themselves back at the starting point. The patterns on the wall seemed to mock their futility, as if saying, "Give up, you'll never get out..."

“Something’s not right,” Mu Xue suddenly stopped, her gaze falling on a tiny detail on the wall. “Look…”

Mu Xue pointed her slender finger to an inconspicuous corner on the wall, where the lines of the pattern seemed thicker than elsewhere.

"Could this be some kind of marking?" A team member leaned closer to examine it, but couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Having been trapped in the maze for too long, tension and anxiety began to spread through the group. Some suggested continuing forward, hoping to find an exit; others advocated returning the way they came, believing this was the only way to find their way back. The disagreement made the group restless, and even led to arguments.

"Enough!" Ning Yu roared, silencing the crowd's argument. "Calm down, all of you!"

His tone carried an unquestionable authority, and the team members immediately fell silent, their anxious gazes fixed on him as if he were their last lifeline.

Ning Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and attempted to communicate with the system, hoping to get some help from it.

"System, analyze the current environment and find a breakthrough."

The system's voice rang in his mind, but unlike its usual calm and clear voice, this time the system's voice was intermittent and full of noise, as if the signal had been severely interfered with.

“Analysis...environment...structure...complex...data...missing…”

The system was spouting nonsensical words, and Ning Yu grew increasingly alarmed. What exactly was this maze that even the system was helpless against?

"System, can you find an exit?"

"Exports...exports...cannot...calculate..."

The system's response sank Ning Yu's heart to the bottom. He opened his eyes, looked at the bewildered teammates around him, and a sense of powerlessness welled up inside him.

"What's wrong? What did the system say?" Mu Xue noticed his unusual behavior and asked in a low voice.

Ning Yu shook his head and said with a wry smile, "The system is also affected and cannot provide us with any assistance."

Upon hearing this, the team members' initial spark of hope was instantly extinguished, leaving only despair and fear on their faces.

Time ticked by, and the maze remained silent, save for the sound of everyone breathing. Just then, a strange smell began to permeate the air…

The smell was initially faint, like the stench of some rotting plant, mingled in the damp air, barely noticeable. However, as time passed, the smell grew stronger, gradually transforming into a nauseating stench, like an invisible hand gripping everyone's throat.

"Cough cough... What's that smell?" one of the team members couldn't help but complain, covering his mouth and nose with his hand.

"Don't speak, hold your breath!" Ning Yu immediately realized that something was wrong; there was likely something wrong with the smell.

However, his warning came too late; some team members had already begun to feel dizzy and their vision was becoming blurry.

"I...I feel dizzy..." A team member swayed and collapsed.

"Oh no! This fog is poisonous!" Ning Yu shouted, rummaging through his backpack.

"I have antidote pills!" Mu Xue took out a delicate little porcelain bottle from her pocket, poured out a few pills, and distributed them to the team members around her.

The antidote melted instantly in his mouth, and a cool sensation spread throughout his body, slightly easing his dizziness. However, the nauseating smell grew stronger, and the fog thickened, reducing visibility to less than a meter.
