Chapter 156 The Treasury Undergoes a Shocking Turn of Events, and Dire Circumstances Return

With a soft "hum," several red laser beams shot out from the ground beneath their feet, moving at a speed too fast for the naked eye to follow. Ning Yu reacted swiftly, tackling Mu Xue to the ground and narrowly avoiding the fatal blow. A scorching heat swept over their heads, and the smell of burning hair filled their nostrils, sending chills down their spines.

"That was close!" Mu Xue gasped for breath, her face pale as she stared at the laser beams that formed a web of death. "How could there be such a dangerous trap here?!"

Ning Yu didn't answer. He got up from the ground and sharply scanned his surroundings. The warehouse was quiet, with only a few emergency lights flickering dimly, casting long shadows of him and Mu Xue, adding to the tense atmosphere.

“These laser grids seem to be connected to the warehouse’s electrical system,” Mu Xue said, pointing to the dense network of wires in the corner. “Perhaps we can find the control center and shut it down.”

Ning Yu followed her gaze, his brows furrowed. The warehouse's wiring was a complex maze, making it incredibly difficult to locate the control center quickly. Worse still, the activation of the laser network seemed to be merely an appetizer; the sounds of machinery churning emanated from the depths of the warehouse, foreshadowing an even greater danger approaching.

“Time is of the essence, there’s no time for a thorough investigation.” Ning Yu made a quick decision. “You wait here for me, I’ll go and try to force a breakthrough.”

"Be careful!" Mu Xue grabbed his sleeve worriedly, but eventually let go. "Take care."

Ning Yu nodded, took a deep breath, and activated the few remaining supernatural abilities within him. Pale blue light danced at his fingertips, illuminating his resolute profile. However, just as he was about to make his move, a sharp headache suddenly struck, causing his vision to blur and nearly making him lose his balance.

Damn it, it's that feeling again! Ning Yu gritted his teeth, enduring the excruciating pain, and tried to activate his superpower again. However, this time, his superpower seemed to be suppressed by something, appearing and disappearing intermittently, completely beyond his control.

"Ning Yu, what's wrong?" Mu Xue noticed his unusual behavior and asked anxiously.

Before Ning Yu could answer, a laser beam slipped past his arm...

A burning pain shot through Ning Yu's arm, and he groaned, staggering backward. Crimson blood instantly stained his sleeve, appearing particularly gruesome under the eerie red light of the laser.

"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue exclaimed, rushing to his side to check his injuries. "How are you? Where are you hurt?"

Ning Yu was pale and his forehead was covered in cold sweat, but he still endured the pain and comforted others, "I'm fine, it's just a scratch."

"You're injured like this, and you still say you're fine!" Mu Xue glared at him reproachfully, then tore off a piece of cloth from her waist and deftly bandaged his wounds.

"Don't worry, this little injury is nothing." Ning Yu forced a smile and wanted to reach out to touch her head, but the pain in his arm made him hang down weakly.

"Don't talk for now, save your energy." Mu Xue looked at him with concern in her eyes.

"Hmm." Ning Yu nodded, leaning against the wall, trying to calm his surging blood and qi. He knew this was not the time to be reckless; the most urgent task was to find a way to break through the laser net as soon as possible, otherwise they would all be trapped here to die.

"Boss, we've tried! These laser emitters are made of special materials; ordinary attacks can't destroy them at all!" At that moment, several team members ran over, panting, their faces filled with anxiety and helplessness. They had just tried using the surrounding debris to damage the laser emitters, but they were like impenetrable walls, completely unmoved no matter how they attacked.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath, his heart sinking. He had originally thought that these laser nets were just ordinary defensive measures, which could be neutralized by finding the control center or destroying the source of the lasers. He hadn't expected things to be so much more complicated than he had imagined.

Just as everyone was at a loss, a series of clicking sounds suddenly came from deep within the warehouse, like some kind of large machine starting up. A piercing alarm then blared, echoing through the empty warehouse and adding to the oppressive atmosphere.

"Oh no, there are other traps!" Ning Yu's expression changed, and he stood up abruptly, shouting to everyone, "Watch your step!"

However, his warning came too late...

"Ah—" Accompanied by a scream, the ground beneath a team member's feet suddenly collapsed, and he fell down instantly.

"Third brother!"

"Quickly, save them!"

Everyone rushed to the cave entrance with cries of alarm, only to watch helplessly as their team member disappeared into the darkness amidst screams. The trap was bottomless, with only faint metallic clanging sounds coming from below, a testament to the desperate situation of those who had fallen into it.

"Calm down! Don't move!" Mu Xue shouted sharply to stop the panicked crowd, her eyes quickly scanning the ground. "These trap holes should follow a pattern. Everyone watch your step and try to walk on areas with piles of debris!"

The experienced team members reacted immediately, reminding each other and moving their feet cautiously to avoid stepping into traps. However, there were simply too many traps to avoid, and within minutes, two more team members unfortunately fell into them.

"Damn it! What kind of hell is this place?!" one of the team members cursed, his face filled with fear and anger.

Ning Yu suppressed his headache and scanned his surroundings with sharp eyes. The warehouse reeked of acrid burning and dust, and the flickering lights above made the already eerie environment even more unsettling. He noticed that the warehouse walls were covered with strange symbols and lines, resembling some kind of ancient script or totem.
